Claytor Lake State Park, Dublin, Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice campground on a beautiful lake--and it's very convenient to the highway. We were in section D with water and electric--no sewer. We had a large, level, gravel, back-in site with plenty of shade. (Some of the trees needed trimming.) There is no wifi or cable TV. The restrooms are old, but clean. We definitely plan to return! We camped at Claytor Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Sylvan Lake Beach Park, Hopewell Junction, New York

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is on a beautiful lake, but it's too far from the highway for a one night stay. I'd recommend it for a longer stay, however, because it's a lovely, peaceful spot! We had a roomy, level, gravel back-in site site with shade. The wifi worked well; no cable. We camped at Sylvan Lake Beach Park in a Motorhome.

Twin Bridge Meadow Family Campground, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

We only spent one night here and it was a long way from the highway--through the town of Chambersburg--not easy to get to! The owner was very accommodating and gave us our pick of pull through sites on a large treeless grassy field. (No sewer; 30 amp.) There was a creek and wooded area near our site. The wifi was awful and there was no cable TV. I doubt we'd return. We camped at Twin Bridge Meadow Family Campground in a Motorhome.

Walnut Hills Campground (formerly Staunton / Walnut Hills KOA), Staunton, Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We spent one night here on our way north. It's in a large park-like setting. We could not get level on our first site, which was by the lake. The second site wasn't close to the lake or restrooms, but it was level. (Both sites were gravel.) There is no wifi or cable, but this was fine for a short stay. We camped at Walnut Hills Campground (formerly Staunton / Walnut Hills KOA) in a Motorhome.

Pine Hill RV Park, Kutztown, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

This is a well-maintained campground with nice, roomy, gravel sites in a lovely area. It is very convenient to I 78, although our GPS told us to get off at the wrong exit and sent us the long way. (Take exit 40.) We had a pull-through site with full hook-ups. They have wifi and cable. The restrooms are clean and well-maintained. We will definitely stay here again. We camped at Pine Hill RV Park in a Motorhome.

Red Gate Campground & RV Resort, Savannah, Georgia

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We've stayed here twice--both times for one night only on our way to someplace else. The staff is very accommodating. The sites are on a large, grassy field, but the campground is in a farm setting with a pretty lake and gazebo. There is also a pool with restrooms, but there's only one other restroom/shower in the main office building. We camped at Red Gate Campground & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Battle Row Campground, Old Bethpage, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

We spent a week here while visiting friends and family on Long Island. It is a rustic campground with very few amenities in a lovely wooded setting. There were many seasonal RVers here, though not having a sewer hook-up must be inconvenient! Our site was asphalt, but we had a very hard time getting our RV level. There is no wifi or cable; very poor TV reception. The restrooms were clean, but there are no laundry facilities. We would probably return for a one-week stay. We camped at Battle Row Campground in a Motorhome.

Red Apple Campground, Arundel, Maine

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $67.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautifully maintained upscale campground with many seasonal mobile homes and RV sites. They have lots of activities from live entertainment to bingo. It is a convenient location for visiting Kennebunkport. The staff is friendly and helpful. They offer free DVD rentals in the store and we especially loved having a lobster dinner delivered to our door. (We paid $30 for two 1 1/2 lb. lobsters.) They also have a nice pool and laundry facilities. Our asphalt site was level and had some shade. The wifi was excellent; no cable. Our only complaints: site C-3 is next to the dump station and the picnic table faces the neighbor's sewer hook-up. We did not have any problems with noise, though. We camped at Red Apple Campground in a Motorhome.

Carowinds Camp Wilderness Resort, Charlotte, North Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $64.00
Overall Rating:

This is a popular campground for families visiting the amusement park. It's quite crowded on weekends, but much quieter during the week. We stayed here because the location was convenient for us--we did not visit the amusement park. We had a nice, roomy, level pull through site with plenty of shade. There were four restrooms nearby, each with its own shower. Good wifi; no cable. This is one of the most expensive campgrounds we've stayed at, but there aren't many options in the Charlotte area. They do not offer a weekly discount. We thought it was over-priced and would not stay there again unless we had no other choice. We camped at Carowinds Camp Wilderness Resort in a Motorhome.

Rutledge Lake RV Park, Fletcher, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

We had a large paved pull-through site (13) near the lake. It was extremely convenient, but had no shade and was not very private. When the back-in sites along the lake were occupied, it blocked our view. Fletcher is a great location, right in between Asheville and Hendersonville, and the park is easy to reach. The staff was friendly; they even help you park! The owners do a great job landscaping the sites, and even though they are adding new ones, noise was never a problem. The pool was inviting; restrooms were modern and clean. We will definitely return, but next time we'd request one of the gravel sites in the back where there's more shade and privacy. We camped at Rutledge Lake RV Park in a Motorhome.

Crossroads Travel Park, Perry, Georgia

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

We spent one night here on our way home. It was convenient to the highway, and, as transients, we were given an easy (though narrow) pull-through site, close to the office and bathrooms. The hook-ups for water and 50 amp were fine and the cable TV and WiFi were excellent--the best on our trip! The bathroom is old, and though they try to keep it clean, every time someone walks in, they track in dirt and grass. This travel park suited our needs for one night; we'd definitely stay here again. We camped at Crossroads Travel Park in a Motorhome.

Riverbend Motorcoach Resort, LaBelle, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

Riverbend is an upscale RV resort situated in a beautifully landscaped setting with large, paved, private sites. Many of the sites are privately owned, mostly by retirees who come to Florida for the winter. Ours was a pull-in, facing a lake with a fountain. We were there for three nights with a group of 15 other coaches that were scattered all over the park. (Probably due to the way the rental pool works.) Even though our group received a discount and it was off-peak season, we paid over $50 per night. (The restaurant was already closed for the season.) In peak season river sites are $140 per night. The fee does not include free WiFi, and our cable TV connection was poor. Landscapers woke us up at 7 AM, trimming trees and bushes. I would not stay here again because the park is not convenient to Fort Myers. Sanibel is over one hour away, and Fort Myers beach is close to an hour away as well. However, I imagine this would be a fun place to stay in peak season when the restaurant is open, especially if you're interested in getting involved in the activities and don't plan to drive into Fort Myers. We camped at Riverbend Motorcoach Resort in a Motorhome.

Stagecoach RV Park, St Augustine, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Convenient location for visiting St. Augustine. We spent three nights here with a group of about 19 coaches. We had a large pull-through gravel site that was level. As others have noted, the sites could use more gravel, but there was lots of room between coaches and plenty of shady trees. The staff was friendly and helpful and we made good use of the activity room. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Stagecoach RV Park in a Motorhome.

Fort Myers Beach RV Resort, Fort Myers, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $64.00
Overall Rating:

We spent three nights here in February. As others have noted, the streets and sites are tight and the park has a run-down, crowded feeling to it. Our site was a pull-in located next to a dilapidated permanent structure. There are many long term seasonal renters and owners here. We received a useful information packet when we checked in. The staff and our neighbors were helpful and friendly, but we would not stay here again, even though the location is close to Fort Myers and the beaches. We camped at Fort Myers Beach RV Resort in a Motorhome.
