Devils Tower Nat'l Monument / Belle Fourche Campground, Devils Tower, Wyoming

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

you come here to see devils tower. And see it you can. each campsite has a decent view of the tower. we had no problem navigating the roads with our 35' and toad. Big rigs might be a little tight but there are a dozen sites that could fit a big rig. All the sites are pull through. There are no showers but the modern toilets are clean. The camp host came by each day and they were all very friendly. we were here mid week and each night at dusk one of the rangers gave a presentation at the amphitheater. The campground is right next to a prairie dog field. The family had a good time just sitting and watching the prairie dogs play. as a national park it is rustic with no power, water or dump statoin. if you need these there is a KOA just outside the park with the same view and modern hookups for $15 more per night. We camped at Devils Tower Nat'l Monument / Belle Fourche Campground in a Motorhome.

Faribault County Fairgrounds, Blue Earth, Minnesota

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We stopped here as we were headed home from out west. This is a surprisingly nice little full hook up campground for only $20. The campground is tucked away in the back of the fairgrounds. Just follow the camping signs past the fitness center to the back of the park. There are 9 RV sites and 4 tent sites. All 9 RV sites are nicely groomed and full hookup. They are all 50' back in and there was enough room for us to back in our 35' with the toad attached. The camping loop is not huge but there is plenty of room for big rigs to get in and out. ATT and Verizon both had strong signal and fast 4g LTE. We camped at Faribault County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Van Buren State Park, South Haven, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

We have camped at most of the state parks along lake michigan. Some how we never made it here until now. Our site was grass over sand so plan on some blocks under the levelers. We ended up near the playground which the kids loved. State park play grounds are hit an miss. This one was one of the better ones. Roads are paved and can be a little tight to navigate. We disconnected the toad before entering the park. upon arriving at our site it was clear that it would be tight to back in. It was a good thing the campers across the street had not arrived otherwise it would have been difficult to back in with one shot. Verizon signal was about 50% internet speed was good but not top speed. ATT signal was a little better. We camped at Van Buren State Park in a Motorhome.

Tawas Point State Park, East Tawas, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park with the bay on one side and lake Huron on the other. We stayed here for the long 2017 4th of July weekend. The sites are large and grassy, most are slightly shaded. Most sites allowed for back in or parallel parking which is rare for a state park. the sites are a little close to the rear. However, if you are here with friends you could get back to back sites and parallel park to great a nice camp area in between. It was clear that many have done this. The roads are paved but a little narrow. we had no problem navigating our 35' rv through the park. We did unhook the toad before driving in. It would be a little tight otherwise. Plenty of room to park the toad at the site. Verizon signal was a little week and intenet on the slow side but usable. ATT signal was strong and speed was great. We camped at Tawas Point State Park in a Motorhome.

St. Louis N.E. / I-270 / Granite City KOA, Granite City, Illinois

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for spring break 2017. We checked out campgrounds all around St. Louis. Non of them had great reviews. We decided to stay here since it appeared to be conveniently located to get in and out of town. We were right. I am not sure why this campground doesn't have better reviews. It was early in the season and the owners were cleaning and prepping the campground. The bathrooms were cleaned and nicer than i had expected. Our 3 kids loved the bounce pad and playground. We received an escort to our site. The roads are wide enough and we had no problem navigating the camp ground with our car in tow. We were given a pull through site which was convenient with the toad. We had a full hookup site. Water was decent. The sites were a little on the small side for the price. But given the limited choices around St. Louis it was ok. Originally we had planned to stay here 2 day then head to another park further south. After checking that one out we decided this one was nicer and more convenient so we stayed here a few more nights. If we come to St. Louis again we wont hesitate to stay here again. We camped at St. Louis N.E. / I-270 / Granite City KOA in a Motorhome.

Lucky Lake Campground, Montague, Michigan

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This very large campground is a hidden gem. There are limited sites with power so make sure to have a reservation if you need one. I was a little hesitant when I heard that the campground only had port-a-potties. I will say that these were amazingly clean and odor free. They have these placed every 500 feet around the campground. The roads are dirt and it can get a little dusty at times but it never bothered us at our site. Big rigs will have no problems navigating the campground. Many of the sites are right on the water and the kids were able to swim right from our site. There is a beautiful sandbar with swim platforms in the middle of the lake. We did not fish but our site neighbor did and was able to catch a large bass every second or third cast. The owner and his wife were very friendly and made rounds regularly. It is clear that they take pride in the park and keep it well maintained. We did not receive a WiFi signal (nor did we ask about it) but we had strong AT&T 4g so it wasn't an issue. We camped at Lucky Lake Campground in a Motorhome.

North Higgins Lake State Park, Roscommon, Michigan

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

Great park with a lot of space between sites. Roads are paved and a little narrow at times but we had no problem getting through with vehicle in tow behind our 34' MH. Michigan state parks don't have WiFi but i did have 2-3 bars of AT&T 4g. Internet wasn't perfect but we had and acceptable connection when needed. The only negative we had was that there is only one dump station for the entire park. It may have been due to the holiday but it took an hour in line to dump before leaving. The beach was a little small but the water was warm and clean in late May. We camped at North Higgins Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

wood on at the ranger station for $5 a bundle was better quality than the $5 bundle at the gas station up the road.

East Fork State Park, Bethel, Ohio

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

this was our first stay at an Ohio state park. this is a huge park. It was early in the season so the place was pretty empty. the sites are well spaced. I bet this place is great in the summer. We were here for a local geocaching event during spring break. Bathrooms and the park were clean. We camped at East Fork State Park in a Motorhome.

Caesar Creek State Park, Waynesville, Ohio

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here during spring break 2016. This is a big beautiful park and the sites are well spaced. The roads were wide and easy to navigate. The grounds were well maintained and the site was perfectly level. There was no potable water at the dump station but that may have been due to the early season. But there was a water hookup near our site but we didn't use it assuming there would be water at the dump station. We were able to check out a few of the well marked hiking trails. We stayed here since it was a reasonable distance from the National Air museum. We would stay here again. We camped at Caesar Creek State Park in a Motorhome.
