Summer Lake Hot Springs RV Park, Paisley, Oregon

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Mice! This park has an abundance of mice. Set the traps in your rig when you park or you'll go hone with hitchhikers, and unlike in Disney movies they are not cute.
Other than the indigenous rodent population it's a good place to spend a couple days resting and soaking. The hot springs are well kept and clean, and the mineral water is delicious. It comes hot right out of the hydrants at your site! It was wonderfully quiet, and a great place to rest up before another 400 miles of driving :-) We camped at Summer Lake Hot Springs RV Park in a Motorhome.

Cannon Beach RV Resort, Cannon Beach, Oregon

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

The spaces are not anything special. There are some that abut the neighboring wooded area, which are nice. They are mostly back in. The pool is ok, though not useful for swimming laps. The hot tub/spa was well cared for and cleaned. There was almost no one there, and there was plenty of room and heat to practice yoga. The internet did not work, and neither did the cable. Though I have my own wifi card, and don't use the internet, some people may find that irritating. We camped at Cannon Beach RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Lots to do in the town of Cannon Beach. The park is distant from the town and beach, bring a tow vehicle.

Barview Jetty Park, Rockaway Beach, Oregon

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in the Y site. Y4 to be exact. I travel in a 38' diesel pusher with no slides. The ocean was very active, and the sea spray even touched our RV! It was a wonderful experience to watch an incoming storm so close to the ocean. I have never encountered a site so well situated. The site has no hook ups, dry camping, but the view and stark lack of people was well worth not having AC power or water hook up. The fishermen came early in the morning to cast their lines off the jetty. Though they came early, they were all very respectful and quiet. There are ample trails, some of which are handicapped friendly. The staff was friendly, and very helpful in pointing out the good tourist destinations in the area. We camped at Barview Jetty Park in a Motorhome.

Evergreen State Fairgrounds, Monroe, Washington

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

After searching for the RV campground, which was not signed, I called the fairgrounds during their regular business hours, but they did not answer. They did eventually return my call at ten AM the next day. I ,along with two other people in RVs, finally found the site. They had tried to call also, but with no success. I stayed in campsite 213. When I arrived another person was in my site. The camp host was nowhere to be found so I spent the first night in site 214. The next day the "host" was still nowhere to be found. Finally the site i was supposed to be in was vacated. I moved over. The tree behind my site had branches sticking in to my space, and it did not allow me to fit in to the space all the way. I parked a little ways out in to the lane that circled the campground. The site was level, and gravel with no pot holes. The utilities box was in good repair, as were the hydrants. There were no clear site boundaries, but there were some faded chalk lines. People with dogs off leash were prominent, despite the signs stating dogs must be on leash. The sites were lit by street lights, and the lights did not turn off. This made it difficult to sleep at night. We camped at Evergreen State Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Columbia Hills State Park -- Horse Thief Lake, Dallesport, Washington

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

The sites are back in only, If you are skilled at operating your vehicle that should not be a problem. If you are not, you will probably hit the tall concrete divider pillars and damage your rig. The sites are close together, if you had slides this could also present an issue. For my stay the issue was the wind and the neighboring fire ring. The fire ring was located at the front tire of my rig, and the wind easily pushed it too close to the rubber. Had I not been paying attention, this could have resulted in severe damage to my rig. The main issue is space. Noise, and parking were also issues. This is no fault of the campground, but the layout is not conducive for silence or for space. I drive a 36 foot rig which is 8'9" wide and 12'8" tall.

The camp host was friendly, and very helpful. The petroglyphs are within walking distance, and the lake is quite beautiful. The grounds are well kept, and the grass is trimmed. The anthropological history alone is well worth a one or two day stay. I would have liked to arrange a guided tour of the glyphs, but was unable to due to time constraints.

This makes a good base camp, but not somewhere to hang out and spend the day. Other than the lake, there is not much there. The glyphs are about 1/4 mile down the road, and Horsethief Butte is a great climbing place or even a short hike, is also down the road. We camped at Columbia Hills State Park -- Horse Thief Lake in a Motorhome.
