Madison / Pittsburgh SE KOA, Ruffs Dale, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

BE SURE TO USE THE EXIT AFTER IRWIN! The driveway in, is steep, and narrow. We arrived after dark after using the Irwin exit on advice from our Co-Pilot GPS, and found after attempting to enter that we couldn't make the turn from that direction. Other than that the site was pull through and serviceable. Park is extremely busy, lots of traffic day and night, even in late November. Standard KOA features, playground, dog park, jump pillow, pool. Looks like they are doing some construction. Intererior roads are narrow, and dirt. We camped at Madison / Pittsburgh SE KOA in a Motorhome.

Trout Run Camp Resort, Wellsville, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Trout Run is a family owned campground, and they aim to please. While my husband was checking in they chatted with him and found out that he brought his golf clubs and couldn't wait to watch the game the next night, and changed our site accordingly. They provided us with a big pull through site that wasn't under the trees and faced in the right direction so he could get a signal for satellite service. They are very receptive to making your stay as comfortable and pleasing as they can. The sites are quite roomy, the campground were quiet, and there were activities on the weekends and we had no problem with any of our utilities. We stayed two weeks, so I used the laundry twice and had a positive experience. Though there were always some machines out of order they were never the same machines which tells me that they repair them often. In fact, they were constantly improving the grounds the entire two weeks we stayed. The driving range was wonderful and self service. The pool my husband visited but only once due to the weather only being at 75* if we were lucky even though it was August! The speed bumps are sneaky and hard to see, be sure to drive slowly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Trout Run and highly recommend it. We camped at Trout Run Camp Resort in a Motorhome.

Hunt's Cedar River Campground, Tipton, Iowa

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

We only stayed at Hunt's for one night, however we want to go back and spend more time. I'm not sure why it has so many negative ratings. Yes, it is right next to the Highway and there is highway noise, however we slept fine, although our AC also ran all night as it was HOT. I was a little concerned with the dirt road that led to it and scared about the hill that leads down into the campground, but we navigated both with no trouble. We parked and hooked up to excellent 50 amp service, and water and immediately went to the pool. I have seldom seen a cleaner and better cared for campground pool. We truly enjoyed our dip. We ached to play the mini golf which looked like some of the A&W golf from back in upstate NY, however time was not our friend. We were excited to see they offered archery tag, but didn't get to partake in that either, nor did we get to use the multiple horseshoe sites, the volley ball court, the 1/2 basketball court or play on the playground. They offer plenty to do. The people who checked us in were friendly and gave us our choice of spots. We enjoyed our stay and would go back. We camped at Hunt's Cedar River Campground in a Motorhome.

River Beach Campground, Milford, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This campground isn't your typical, or even really focused on being a campground. Their main order of business is renting equipment and doing river tours. Staff here were friendly and helpful, but that was the only thing I can recommend about it.

Pulling into the grounds was nerve wracking as there is a large dip at the end of the driveway and a sharp turn, meant that we went through the dip one tire at a time with a lot of leaning and swaying and cupboards flying open, even with our CHF. Our site, #113, was actually part of the parking lot. The approach to pull in the spot was skinny with sharp turns and nerve wracking, not motor home friendly. The site were terribly uneven. Our jacks wouldn't auto level saying it was too far out of level. One motor home there was sitting on a block that was tall enough to use as a stool! The sites were water and 30 amp power, with a dump station available. Leaving was the absolute WORST. I thought for sure we were tipping over, you can't see approaching traffic well, I spent a good bit of time picking up and closing cabinets after we stopped rocking. I'd love to come back and spend more time acquainting myself with the area, but at a different campground. We camped at River Beach Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Milford and Dingman were both cute little towns with lots going on.

Dingman had a carnival going in their awesome little park, and also offered bumper boats and had a stable for trail riding.

Milford was a pretty little town with lots of shopping and restaraunts without being to big or to "chain."

Tower Campground, Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is pretty much for business stays. The people staying here have a purpose in Sioux Falls. We were changing our residency, and this was the perfect place to stay. Good location, close to everything, amenities are well maintained and in good working order. Other than a few jets flying over at night, campground is quiet. The staff is wonderful and very friendly and helpful. That being said, it's not a typical campground. There is a small playplace for kids, no pool, no "fun director" or anything like that. If you are looking for a clean quiet place to stay, this is it, if you are looking for fellowship, fun, theme nights probably not for you. I would gladly stay again. We camped at Tower Campground in a Motorhome.

Whispering Hills RV Park, Georgetown, Kentucky

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed overnight, and therefore didn't make much use of the facilities. We stayed on one of the gravel sites. Rough on the knees while you are setting up. Well designed sewer and reliable electric were a plus. This is not a scenic campground, I wouldn't stay there for longer than a night. There are no trees (plus side for satellite tv, not so great for nature lovers like me), little grass, they have a pool and a pond though. Store didn't open till 10 so I not know how well outfitted it was. It was a quiet nights stay and pretty packed too. We camped at Whispering Hills RV Park in a Motorhome.

American Heritage RV Park, Williamsburg, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

Our stay was shortened at American Heritage due to an emergency at home, however, we hope to go back as soon as we can arrange the time. This park is the BEST! There are two types of campsites, regular which includes all hook ups a concrete pad and patio and deluxe. The deluxe sites also have concrete pads and patios but include as well beautiful stone boundary walls with built in fire pits, fixed grills and patio tables with umbrellas and that seat six! The pool on site was beautiful, clean and had lots of tables and chairs on the deck. The park paid a great deal of attention to details to make it a lovely place to enjoy your stay. They also offer 3 nature trails. We were only able to do one of them. They also have a good sized dog run, which unfortunately we didn't get to take advantage of either. We cant wait to go back! We camped at American Heritage RV Park in a Motorhome.

Quakerwoods Campground, Quakertown, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

We only had the opportunity to stay at Quakerwoods one night, however we thoroughly enjoyed it! We arrived later in the afternoon, so we didn't have the opportunity to try any of the amenities. The campground is wooded, clean and well kept. The staff was helpful and friendly. The only thing that was disappointing was that the sewer drain was higher that the gravel pad we were parked on making it more difficult to dump our tanks. We camped at Quakerwoods Campground in a Motorhome.

Delaware Beaches Jellystone, Lincoln, Delaware

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

It is a steaming hot Memorial Day Weekend, and we have lost power for most of Saturday. Once the campground loses power they shut down the camp store as well. The pool was closed due to an electrical charge running through it, giving a mild electrical shock to anyone in the water and a more significant one to anyone who touched the hand rail. There is no shade, and no wifi and no real amenities here to make a stay worth while. Your campsite is just big enough for your awning not a picnic table. The sewer drain is on a raised platform making it difficult to dump. They are refusing to adjust the rates for the campsites even though they are not providing electrical service. We camped at Delaware Beaches Jellystone in a Motorhome.
