Golden Golf Club RV Park, Golden, British Columbia

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Secluded spot for RVers who like to get in a round of golf, if it doesn't rain. Beautiful golf course and clean, easy to navigate RV park. Quiet and level gravel sites with lots of shade. Verizon signal ok. $26 nightly rate is CAD.

There are two narrow bridges on the road up to the facility, Class A's might want to scope out ahead of time. We camped at Golden Golf Club RV Park in a Motorhome.

Wagons West RV Park, Fillmore, Utah

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Basic park with some regulars off to one side. Big pull thru sites, plenty of room but no shade in pull thrus. Level but grassy, could use a trim. Quiet, no goats anymore that I saw. Short walk to interesting little town with museum and old fashioned car hop. Propane available on site. Verizon signal good, didn't try wi-fi. We camped at Wagons West RV Park in a Motorhome.

$32 CAD, $25 USD. Short stroll to hot springs which are drained each morning and refreshed (saw them doing draining). Electric, no sewer. Joint Base Elmendorf/Richardson Famcamp, Anchorage, Alaska

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Military guides list $18 for a site; that's for dry camp in overflow. Still less expensive than commercial campgrounds in area. Water and electric in well spaced sites, surrounded by trees, ferns, flowers. Quiet and convenient to commissary and exchange. Camp hosts took up 3 of the 6 pull-through sites. We camped at Joint Base Elmendorf/Richardson Famcamp in a Motorhome.

Chicken Gold Camp and Outpost, Chicken, Alaska

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed 3 nts during Chickenstock, a music fest, and got free camping with the purchase of tickets to the festival - no option to just camp. We were on upper hill in a parking space shoulder to shoulder with other campers dry camping. No space numbers, over 500 people there in campers and lots of tents. There are electric/water hookups in shaded area around general store. Easily accessible pit toilets and garbage bins. Gold panning in park is ok, other gold prospecting options are pricey. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good coffee shop and snacks and a couple of small restaurants in walking distance. We camped at Chicken Gold Camp and Outpost in a Motorhome.

Savage River Campground (NPS Campground), Denali National Park, Alaska

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

We booked the first 3 nights in a row we found when we checked for reservations 2 weeks in advance. You have to book thru system so be somewhere with a good connection and you have to setup an account. You are charged $10/person entry fee and then given a refund for America the Beautiful pass if you go to Backcountry Wilderness Center (not Visitors Center). Be aware that if someone cancels they do NOT release the site; we had many sites around us that were not occupied. Deanali is manical about "preserving nature". Not encouraging about hiking on your own and you must take an expensive ($35-70) bus trip or tour to get past the first 15 miles and close to Denali. If the weather is bad you won't see it. Savage River loop trail was nice hike as was the Horseshoe Lake trail. Our spot had picnic table and fire pit (but no fires were allowed); nearby toilets and bear proof garbage. Quite hours after 10pm and generator only 11-2 and 4-8. No cell reception (Verizon) at campground. Surrounded by trees and shrub no views. Showers, laundry, flush toilets at check in location. We camped at Savage River Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Try to get in the park rather than outside at commercial sites - its much, much nicer and easier to explore the park. The further in campground that allows RVs only allows you to drive your tow in and out ONE TIME while camping there so plan accordingly. Savage River is the 13 miles in on the road, away from the bustle of the entry yet able to come and go.

Liard River Hot Springs Provincial Park, Liard River, British Columbia

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Park is adjacent to the hot springs and camping includes access to springs. Camp spaces are mostly back-in, we detached tow vehicle although there are a few pull-throughs. Free firewood (feature of Canadian provincial parks) and fire pits and picnic tables. Sites are widely spaced with trees between and level. Easy walk to springs along the boardwalk. Barrel style fire pits restrict heat output. We camped at Liard River Hot Springs Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

Stoddard Creek Campground, Dubois, Idaho

This is a USFS campground in a beautiful setting, surrounded by tall trees. Easy access on level dirt road. Pull-through sites are actually half-turns, lots of room. Picnic table and fire pits. Pit toilets. Quiet and away from traffic, just short of the Montana border. We camped at Stoddard Creek Campground in a Motorhome.

Butte KOA, Butte, Montana

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed one night. Called ahead and was quoted a lower rate which was not offered when we arrived, staff was rude, take it or leave it. Gave us a spot on far side of park near road, noisy and geese droppings everywhere. Didn't use wifi, Verizon signal was ok. We camped at Butte KOA in a Motorhome.

Panguitch KOA, Panguitch, Utah

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

I find KOAs to be pricey. Level, sunny site with full hookups and pleasant check-in. Well stocked convenience store. Dog run and playground. A ways from any activities in town. There's a central pavillion but not individual fire pits. We camped at Panguitch KOA in a Motorhome.

Congdon Creek Campground (Yukon Government), Destruction Bay, Yukon

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $12.00

Best views we had on our trip. Beautiful setting overlooking the Kluane Lake. Skip the resorts and camp here. Level back-in sites in a circle most of which face the lake. Well spaced with trees in-between. Short trails to lakeside. Quiet. Has pit toilets, picnic tables, fire pits. We camped at Congdon Creek Campground (Yukon Government) in a Motorhome.

Teslin Lake Campground (Yukon Goverment), Teslin, Yukon

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

This was a generously spaced provincial park campground, $12/night. There were parallel pull thrus on level gravel, pit toilets and picnic tables with fire pits. The fire pits in the provincial parks are enclosed metal drums that limit the heat output. The lake is down a short hill and there's a boat launch. Some bugs since near the lake. We camped at Teslin Lake Campground (Yukon Goverment) in a Motorhome.
