Chicot State Park, Ville Platte, Louisiana

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This may have been a nice park once but it is horribly run down and service seems to be lacking. We camped in the North Loop based on previous reviews of the bathrooms. Yes, the bath house is decent but extremely run down as are the campsites themselves. Half don't even look like they could be used. Lots of garbage around. Would not camp here again. We camped at Chicot State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tickfaw State Park, Springfield, Louisiana

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Love this park! Nice and quiet. Clean restrooms and despite being in a swamp, hardly any mosquitoes! We were lucky to have an ADA site which is all paved. We camped at Tickfaw State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Kolomoki State Historical Park, Blakely, Georgia

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

This is an absolutely gorgeous park! Small (only 22 sites) and dark and quiet. Just the way we like it! No cell coverage (for us anyway) but there is wifi available at the visitor center. The actual name of the park is Kolomoki Mounds. We camped at Kolomoki State Historical Park in a Travel Trailer.

Wind Creek State Park, Alexander City, Alabama

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

This was a pretty nice park but I found the sites too close together and some didn't have much usable area besides the trailer pad. Ours didn't even have a fire ring. We were there for some fall festival with kids trick or treating so it was very busy but suprisingly quiet at night. I'd go back if I could get site B34 or one in the E loop. We camped at Wind Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Noccalula Falls Campground, Gadsden, Alabama

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

This park is in a great location to explore Gadsden and surrounding areas. The price is right and the amenities good but there are too many sites that are jammed in together. In some, it's hard to tell which hookups belong to you. Thankfully the fire rings are just rocks so we were able to move ours to a better location. Yes, there's lots of trash bins but the whole park could use a good clean up and rearrangement. We camped at Noccalula Falls Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Love the park! Sites are close together and it's a tad run down (like many AL State Parks) but it's dark and quiet at night and the sunrise over the lake is beautiful! We camped at Paul M. Grist State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Benchmark RV Park, Meridian, Mississippi

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Not a bad spot. Near a main road in town but very little noise at night. I wanted to stay two nights but I don't think the owner understood that. No picnic table at our site and none available. Makes it hard to cook a meal (for us). Plug slightly iffy; had to jiggle it to ensure we had power. Only two bathrooms for the whole place. We camped at Benchmark RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

George P Cossar State Park, Oakland, Mississippi

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

What a great spot! Dark at night and quiet! The deer were amazing! $7.49 for a huge bundle of fire wood. Pick a site at the Yocama loop; Jones Creek looks a little run down. In fact, I wosh they would keep the park as neat as the bathrooms. We camped at George P Cossar State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Downtown Riverside RV Park, North Little Rock, Arkansas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

As others have said, this one is all about location. Within walking distance of lots of attractions. The RV park itself is just a big parking lot. With the PA rate, it was worth the cost. It seems to be geared towards self-contained campers as there is no shade or picnic tables except in the large pavillion. Depending on your site, your hookups might be on the wrong side. We camped at Downtown Riverside RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Lakeview Park (COE), Lakeview, Arkansas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

A very nice park with what looks like a relatively new shower house. Sites are spacious and have lots of trees. I guess there's lots of seasonal sites as many were blocked off and not occupied. If you need to hook up to water, bring a very long hose. We camped at Lakeview Park (COE) in a Travel Trailer.

Natural Falls State Park, West Siloam Springs, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

A very nice state park. We wanted to stay two nights but they were booked up. Bath house was dated but very clean. Nice hiking trails. Apparently WiFi is available at the visitor center. My only complaint was the placement of our fire pit. It was on a slope. We camped at Natural Falls State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Keystone Lake State Park, Sand Springs, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in the Lake County loop. The Green County loop is just a ring near the marina, if that's what you're interested in. It was nice and quiet. Distant train noise not bothersome. The bath house had two separate full bathrooms with shower, sink and toilet. Could use better cleaning than it received but not terrible. We got a $1.00/night discount with our Good Sam card. We camped at Keystone Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Don't buy firewood at the park. $5.00 gets you a bundle of about 5-6 small sticks. Go to Phelps Market in Mannford; decent sized bundles for $5.99.

Cheney State Park, West Shore, Cheney, Kansas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

This park is located about 30 minutes from Wichita. In a previous review, someone said it wasn't well marked if arriving from the west on the 400. I agree but we found it, no problem. I wasn't terribly impressed. The sites are spacious but there's a serious lack of toilets (we don't have one). A couple of vault toilets or port-a-potties would be nice. I also agree with the comment about confusion with the pricing. Apparently, the campsite price includes the $3.00 "admin" fee and if camping, you don't pay the $5.00 vehicle fee (all this according to the host). Quiet at night. Hubby said only one toilet in the men's bathroom had paper. Kansas State Parks really need to provide maps at the self pay stations! Not a terrible spot, but I wouldn't stay again. We camped at Cheney State Park, West Shore in a Travel Trailer.
