Whispering Oaks RV Park (Formerly Columbus KOA), Weimar, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park. Big rig friendly. 85' sites, level, wide, and nice grass at the site. New owner working hard on improving the park. Paved roads and gravel sites. Hidden gem on I-10 between Houston and San Antonio. We camped at Whispering Oaks RV Park (Formerly Columbus KOA) in a Motorhome.

Hickory Hollow Campground, Utica, Illinois

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed 1 night passing through the area. Had a pull through site that was adequate. No tv. WIFI ok. Dirt roads were bad with dust. The park was in the begining phases of being dismantled, so speed limit rules were ignored and not enforced. The park was sold to the gravel pit next door. We camped at Hickory Hollow Campground in a Motorhome.

Lake Tobesofkey Arrowhead Campground, Lizella, Georgia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

First let me say that I went there based on the RV Park review showing this to be a "Big Rig" park which it is not. The roads are hilly, windy and 10' wide. The sites are not long enough for a motorhome and the pads/gravel is only 8'wide. But what this park is good for is family camping with a med sized 5th wheel , travel trailer or tents. The park is on a very nice lake with a boat launch. Swimming and good fishing. We didn't fit in at all in our 40' rig but everyone there was haveing a great time. We camped at Lake Tobesofkey Arrowhead Campground in a Motorhome.

Custer's Gulch RV Park, Custer, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park lots of lush green grass. Site we had was 40' wide and and 60'deep. Nice and level. The roads are gravel but there are speed bumps which slow people down and it keeps the dust down. The views at the park are really nice. We had a satellite friendly site. Some are, some aren't. The only problems we had were you couldn't buy water to wash your rig and the water itself was not good. I filled a pail to wash the bugs off my windshield and it was orange. We camped at Custer's Gulch RV Park in a Motorhome.

Indian Campground & RV Park, Buffalo, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in a 40' motorhome and wanted to use our satellite so they put us in the back section. Not good. The sites all needed grading. When I tried to level the coach, two of the levelers went 5" in the ground. The sites were all out of level front to back and side to side. They moved us to a pull-through in front. That was OK. There are big mature trees everywhere in the park which are really nice unless you have to drive a big rig through them. The cable TV was adequate. We stayed here a few years ago and it looked like they hadn't done any real maintenance since we were there the last time. There are quite a few seasonal or full time residents that don't observe the speed limit and as the road is dirt the dust was a problem. I won't stay here again. This is not a real big rig park. We camped at Indian Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Billings KOA, Billings, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

We had a deluxe patio pull-through site on an end, which was huge with nice landscaping. This is the first KOA and is a showpiece for KOA. It is run like a well oiled machine. The roads are all paved so no dust. The park is immaculate. Big pool, nice play area for kids. A river runs by the park but you cannot swim in it. All the RV sites and tent sites are plenty big enough. They have fresh ice cream every night until 9 and there is a small restaurant that has breakfast and BBQ at night. We didn't try it but it was busy. See more at blog. Big Cable TV selection. We camped at Billings KOA in a Motorhome.

Yellowstone's Edge RV Park, Livingston, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $66.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here in a 40' motorhome. The roads are gravel but very little dust. We made our reservation in March and wanted a river view site and they were all taken. I asked to be put on a waiting list. When we arrived they had a cancellation, and we got a beautiful river view site with a large concrete patio. The park is very well maintained , nice grass everywhere. Dog walk area along the riverside. The park store has a very nice selection of items from shirts to fresh ice cream. This is a real first class park. A lot of the campers are seasonal and they were very friendly and welcoming. The views from are really breathtaking. We camped at Yellowstone's Edge RV Park in a Motorhome.

Edgewater RV Resort & Motel, Lakeside, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

When I booked this park it was in February and the park was closed. We sent an email The manager called us from where they winter and got our reservations all done. Which was good because the the place was full when we got there the middle of June. At first glance the park looks like a parking lot with hook ups which it sort of is. But when you spend a few days there you find out it is much more. The managers are are worderfully accommodating for just about any reasonable thing you could ask for. The laundry facilities are modern and clean as are the showers. There is a rec room with books and games. They are constantly working around the park fixing and painting things. There is a pavillion for groups with ample outdoor cooking grills etc. You can also rent a nice gas grill for your site. For me the bst thing was you can wash you rig or car on site. 5.00 for the RV 2.00 for your car. There is a hardware store, grocery, liquor store and casino within walking distance. Oh and the road through the park is paved. No dust on your food while you are trying to eat. See park on blog. We camped at Edgewater RV Resort & Motel in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed here twice and it is always a great experience. We stay in the back section because of our rig size. There are a few concrete pads but most of the sites are on firm grass very large with oom for motorhomes and vehicles. There is no cable but adaquate over the air TV. No problem hitting satellite. One of the best features of the park is the restaraunt. Great burgers and ice cream at reasonable prices. The owners are as nice and friendly as you will find. Indianapolis KOA, Greenfield, Indiana

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

This is a hard park to review. When I arrived I was given a pull through "Premium site" A gravel pull through with concrete pad. . While setting up I noticed the sewer lin was full to the top. Mentioned it to a worker who said they would see about it. I also noticed dried cracked mud around the site. About 5 minutes after setting up the sky opened up and the site was under 5 inches of water. I found out why the sewer was full, it was under water. We were given what turned out to be the worst site for flooding in the campground.D45 The other problem was I asked for a satalite site as there is no cable. Did I say it was 65.00 a nite. And I was under trees and couldn't hit the satelites. All that said I waded to my car and went over to the office that was also flooded and asked to be moved. A very nice young lady came out to see the mess and moved us after a little request for satalite to site #D11. A nice long "premium" site with lots of room between sites, pull through long enough for my 40 rig and car with room to spare. All's well that ends well . They are finishing a very nice pool and water park for kids that will be very nice. It looks like they are really trying to make a nice park. The present sites are gravel and grass and are by no means premium. It is way overpriced especially with no tv. There were around 35 local channels though. A good overnite but not yet a destination. We camped at Indianapolis KOA in a Motorhome.

There is plenty of shopping within 3 miles of the campground. I would disconnect before making the turn at the office. You have to make a U turn between a barn and the office. Also you cannot wash your rig or car here. Buckets only. You can't even pay for the water to wash. I sort of got lucky when it poured rain while I was there.

Western Kentucky RV Park, Central City, Kentucky

Stayed here two nights in my 40' motor home. Site was adaquate for RV and car. Great location right of Highway. Had a 50 amp breaker problem and as the owner wasn't there to fix the manager offered an extension cord to the next site or move over to that site. We moved no big deal. As there is not alot in the way of RV parks in that area I was glad it was there and was treated very well by the manager. We camped at Western Kentucky RV Park in a Motorhome.

Whispering Hills RV Park, Georgetown, Kentucky

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

I stayed in a premium site which once you got there was very nice. Nice grass between sites. Newer picniic table. Staff was very friendly. Also the location near lexington is very good. That is the good. The bad is the Campground is on a 16 foot wide county road with no shoulders and there are two blind hills you have to go over to get there and it is terrifying not nowing if someone is coming at you over the hills or not. The other problem with the park is the dust. The entrance to the park and the main road you have to travel to get to the premium section has a fine dust that if you have a rear engine diesel or god help you a side mount radiator the dust cloud behind you is so bad that it obliterates 50 feet behind you and on the sides so if you are towing a car both it and the rear of your coach are a different color (grey) by the time you park. Add to this there is a strictly enforced rule about not useing any water to hose off your car or coach. So if you can unhook at the Pilot before getting to the campground. WIFI non existant, no cable TV but as the park is new there are no trees to obstruct Satellite. We camped at Whispering Hills RV Park in a Motorhome.

Mountaindale Cabins & RV Resort, Colorado Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

This is the best RV Park in Colorado Springs. But that is because the other parks are more or less trailer parks for full time residents with travel trailers or fifth wheels. This in large part due the extensive military presence in Colorado Springs.

The staff is very helpful and friendly but do not enforce the 5 mph speed limit so if you are in the font row of the main driveway (sites 1-8 or 9-16) every time a registering camper coming in or sewer truck, FedEx, UPS, or other delivery truck goes by a dust cloud from the red gravel covers your car and RV. The worst violators are the campground employees who go up and down the main driveway 20 mph in Golf carts, skidsteers, and utility vehicles all day. The park has their water delivered so you cannot wash your rig unless you use their mobile wash guy who has a contract with the park.

The park wireless depending on where you are is very good. They have a signal extender for cell phones so if you want to make a Verizon call you can if you are near the office where the tower is.

Cable TV was adequate, depending on which site you are on. I moved once and had a good signal on one site and grainy on another.

Sites 1-7 are so narrow if you have slides on both sides you could be overhanging the site next to you and the sewer connections are in the next site in the front so your neighbors sewer connection is 3 feet from your front door on your site.

Other sites are very wide and spacious. We camped at Mountaindale Cabins & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Pueblo South / Colorado City KOA, Pueblo, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

This KOA is right off I-25 and there is virtually no road noise. The park itself is immaculate. The roads and RV sites are gravel with very nice lawns in between with picnic tables. There are large mature trees for shade but they are trimmed high so driving around the park is easy in the biggest rig.

I stayed in space B-4 which was 65 ft long, had nice shade from a huge tree, and I was still able to hit the Dish Network satellite. That said there are 73 cable channels that worked well and the wireless was acceptable.

We were here over the 4th of July weekend and the park was full with families with kids and everyone had fun in the pool, volleyball, playground, etc.

We were very impressed with the effort the new owner has made to make this a really great park.

I will be back again. We camped at Pueblo South / Colorado City KOA in a Motorhome.

Alpen Rose RV Park, Durango, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

We booked a big rig site and paid the 53.00 deposit for it 3 months in advance and when we got there we were told they were full and they don't guarantee sites? Anyway we ended up in a 50 amp pull through site #73 that was barely long enough for our 40' Motorhome.

This may have actually been a blessing because you have to drive down a gravel road into the park that goes right by the front of the big rig sites and the dust clouds created by people entering and leaving the park blows right into the Big Rig sites. There is a fence on the other side that helps keep the dust down on the north side of the park where we were.

The sites other than the big rig sites are very tight as they are double sites that alternate facing on the hook up side so you are just feet apart.

The WIFI was non-existent. The cable TV was good. The roads were tight but manageable as long as you drove slow.

If they would just pave the road coming into the park it would make a big difference. The dust was unbearable.

The staff other than giving away our site was very pleasant and helpful.

There is also a good percentage of full time residents.

That said this is the best park in Durango. We looked at all the others and they were just gravel lots with hook ups.

Alpin Rose did have nice grass between the awning sides of the double sites. We camped at Alpen Rose RV Park in a Motorhome.
