Not sure why they receied bad reviews. The office staff was very friendly and accommodating we well as the on site staff. Our site was level. We had no issues with tight turns. Although I could see dye to trees that sone others might be tight. Our WiFi worked better than most other camp grounds and the cable worked great. Restaurant on site. Tips for other Campers:

The restaurant has BBQ that can be delivered to your site. We did not eat there but our neighbors said it was very good. Blue Hole was a fun place to visit and is free of charge, so bring towel and change of clothes. You can change there . Route 66 really had nothing to see, but there is a section that was built in the 1930s called the early route 66,if you're just trying to see as much of it as you can

Shady Lane RV Camp, Barstow, California

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Great place for an overnight stay. Staff is great! Even though we had enough room to stay, we unhooked and went into town, about 5 miles.

Don't follow your GPS. When you call to make your reservation they will tell you how to get there to avoid all the construction. We camped at Shady Lane RV Camp in a Travel Trailer.

Arena RV Park, Chowchilla, California

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Staff is very friendly as well as the people staying in the park. This was a great place to stay for overnight. Our pull through was long enough to stay hooked up. The only negative comment would be that the train is very close and does wake you up and it would have been nice to have a picnic table. Location is great. Roads are nicely paved. Large concrete patio. We camped at Arena RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Mount St Helen's RV Park - KOA, Castle Rock, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

A little confusion with registration because we didn't get a confirmation and then when I called to make sure we still had a site we were told check-in was 3 p.m. we arrived at 3:10 and the office was closed. This would be a great place if you were traveling with kids! The Wi-Fi didn't really work at our site but there is a lovely deck set in the woods off the back if the store/recreation room that we used. Great coffee in the mornings too! And you can borrow fire pits! We camped at Mount St Helen's RV Park - KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Cedars RV Park, Ferndale, Washington

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This would be a great place for families with children. We did have a very spacious site but our door faced the other campers sitting under their awning and they could see into our living room if we left the front door open. Great site if you were camping with others though! Luckily we had great camping neighbors. Having your own fire pit was certainly a bonus. WiFi needs to be used outside of office, but has good connection in library as well. My only negative comment would be that the bathrooms might need to be cleaned twice per day instead of the once per day late morning. We camped at Cedars RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

We loved the location of this park. It is very well maintained and the staff is wonderful! Yes, the sites are close together, but the convenience of this park as a base station surely makes that a lesser concern. We camped at Bellingham RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

The historic downtown area us lovely with nice restaurants and shops. Make sure you eat at Anthony's, there are two, one serves just seafood, at the pier. The food and service was excellent! Many things are closeby. Catch the starfish at Larabee State Park at low tide if you can. Nice museum downtown too, even if you are not interested in electricity and radio, is worth a trip.

The staff here is wonderful! The lodge is comfy with leather couches, fireplace, library and coffee selection. The wood carving is amazing! The laundry room is nice and clean as well as inexpensive. The owners and manager were very friendly and helpful. They live on site and are available easily. We originally were only staying 2 nights but ended using this as our base for traveling around the area. Our site backed up to the river. Beautiful large site. Nice private dock on river as well. My only negative comment would be that I could never get the WiFi to connect. We camped at On the River Golf & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Sundial bridge was a must see. As well as the free tour of Shasta Dam. Shasta Lake National Park was lovely for picnicking. Gary's RV service helped us out at the last minute with brake controls. Phew! Would have liked to have stayed longer to see all the waterfalls in the area.

The Lakes RV & Golf Resort, Chowchilla, California

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

The feel here was very "gated community" with a lot of rules but I think if I was an owner I might want it that way as well. I think if you're a golfer this is a great place. Though we received a "discount" since we didn't golf. The club is an easy walk and the restaurant was fine. The lake is really a pond but still it was lovely to sit outside there. The pool area is very nice with a grill you can use. We stayed a week here because we were using it as a home base for day trips. Both Yosemite and Monterey we a couple hours drive away. I wouldn't stay a week again. 4 full days would probably have been perfect for us. If you get a back-in site on the "lake" beware. We were told we would fit and did not. Parking is in a different area. They do pick up your trash every morning. It took me days to get the laundry finished because you are limited to using only one washer and dryer. We camped at The Lakes RV & Golf Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Farensi restaurant near the hotel was absolutely the best food ever. Don't be put off by the looks of the building. Don't travel 30 miles to Home Depot. The hardware store downtown has a little bit of everything and has a wonderful staff. Local supermarket nice and hair dressers and other stores very close by. Would not recommend the nail place though. I left with 3 nails bleeding.
