Adirondack Gateway Campground and Lodge, Cold Brook, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

I am giving this campground 5 stars for many reasons, but mainly because of the owners! The lady at the front desk was sooo nice! When I first called for the reservation we chatted like old friends, and when I called back to see if I could extend our stay she was very accommodating. But the amazing part happened after the lightning storm. Our 45' newly purchased motorhome was struck by lightning! This was horrifying to us as we were unable to start our diesel engine and many of the rigs systems were fried. The owner's found out and they were so helpful! Our Verizon signal didn't work, and obviously we needed to make calls. The owners let us come up to their house to make any calls, and a guy who worked there even gave us his phone to use for the day until we could get things arranged. The owners came by our rig periodically to see how they could help and allowed us to stay (without charge) until the tow truck could pick us up. I can't say enough nice things about the way this park is run! There were many activities for the kids, but if you just want to hang out in a beautiful, peaceful place....then this is it! We will definitely stay here again if we are ever in the area....AND if there are no storms predicted! LOL. We camped at Adirondack Gateway Campground and Lodge in a Motorhome.

Covenant Hills Camp, Otisville, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

This is a wonderful park with great people working the desk. I would have given it a 10 overall if it hadn't been for the huge boulders on the corners of the turns. We have a 45' coach and my husband had to make multiple attempts at the turns (by backing up, readjusting, inching his way around the turns) or he would have hit the boulders. Also, the trees hit the top of our RV, so they need to be trimmed.

Other than that, it was a nice park with friendly people. We would stay here again. We camped at Covenant Hills Camp in a Motorhome.

Indian Creek RV & Camping Resort, Geneva, Ohio

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Once inside the park it is very nice. (Gravel site surface, featuring a fire ring and picnic table. Spacious, sunny and open exposure.)

However, getting here was a nightmare! The BP Gas station covers up the Yellow Indian Creek Sign so we missed the turn. We had to drive 3-4 miles and then it was all residential. We had to pull over to the shoulder, un-hook our tow, make a u-turn with our 45' motorhome. Stopping traffic both ways. Not something I want to repeat.

When we finally got to the check-in desk, I asked about Passport America, but she said they didn't allow this on weekends. (However the website says it accepts it Sunday-Thursday...and this was a Sunday.) I told her this and then she told me that since she had already rung it up she couldn't re-do it. Oh well.

So we headed to our campsite. (It was 2:00 p.m. and check-out is 11:00.) It was filled with a guy in a trailer who said he would be gone "in a bit." So we had to sit there for 15 minutes hogging the road while he packed up. Again, the campground is nice, but getting into the place leaves a lot to be desired.

If you have kids this would be a great place, but if you want a restful, peaceful park: I would go somewhere else. We camped at Indian Creek RV & Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

ALSO: you need to drive through town to get here. It's right on the main road through town, and it is BUSY and CONGESTED!!

River Park RV Park, Valdosta, Georgia

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

The park is pretty with lots of nice trees. I would have given it a higher rating except for 2 things. The lady at the front desk was LESS than hospitable! She did NOT seem to like her job (or people). Honestly, if you are going to be in this business, you should at least look at your customers when they walk in the door and not make them feel like they are wasting your valuable time! We did talk to a guy on a golf cart (who we learned was the owner) about her curt behavior and he dealt with it immediately. He seemed to be a really nice guy. The only other issue was the palm trees sticking out in the road. There was no way to avoid them hitting our rig. The sites were long enough for our 45'rig and tow car, but the asphalt pad was very narrow. But, at least it was an asphalt pad instead of gravel or grass. We camped at River Park RV Park in a Motorhome.
