Prairie Pines Campground, Rantoul, Illinois

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Quick overnight on the way to SoCal. Nice quiet park with lots of mature trees for shade. Surrounded by fields. Some might say a little run-down, but fine for me. Level sites. Helpful on-site manager. I wish all the higher-priced parks had internet as good as Prairie Pines'! Not super-fast but solid; it didn't fade to nothing in the evening. We camped at Prairie Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

Check out the interesting abandoned Chanute aircraft museum on the way to the park from Rantoul. Drive around back for more aircraft.

Brazos Valley RV Park, Caldwell, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

I don't think I've ever been to a park as clean and new as this one. What a nice surprise! Melissa was quick to respond to my late email inquiry and checked me in efficiently and in a friendly manner. Wifi worked fine! Another reviewer mentioned workers warming up their diesels early in the morning; I must have been tired because I didn't notice anything. If I live long enough I hope to see the young trees mature! It'll be really beautiful. I was just passing through and Melissa gave me a brochure for the George H. W. Bush museum/library, a helf-hour away in College Station. I went and it's a nice place to visit. We camped at Brazos Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.

Bennetts RV Ranch, Granbury, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Well, it's a stretch to call this a "ranch", but I'm a Yankee, so what do I know? :-) But it's a nice little RV park in a charming and rapidly growing town. A couple of quirks: they use marine power pedestals, which are 50 Amp only, but they supply a free loaner converter to 30 Amps. Also I understand they only have wired internet, though I used my own Verizon Jetpack. The park abuts an RV repair service and an excellent RV parts & supply store, both run by the same family. I found everyone friendly and helpful. We camped at Bennetts RV Ranch in a Motorhome.

Lassen RV Resort (Lassen Pines RV Resort), McArthur, California

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

The worst thing about the park was that I could only stay one night. It's in a great location, with huge sites and excellent restroom/shower/etc facilities. Wifi didn't reach my site, but I got strong reception for both AT&T and Verizon.

The owner went above and beyond with emailed directions as the park was officially closed -- mid November. I found that Google maps gave me good directions, too. When I arrived he led me to a great site with full hookups. Good followup after my stay, too. We camped at Lassen RV Resort (Lassen Pines RV Resort) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Nice park convenient for visiting friends in Vacaville and Davis. Special shout-out for the free air compressor! I had checked tire pressure a month ago, but found I needed 10 lbs more in each of 6 tires. Thanks!!!! We camped at Vineyard RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

I heard that the "Consolidated Rock & Mineral" at 5115 Quinn Rd, Vacaville, CA 95688 is spectacular! Unfortunately it is closed Mondays, when I was there. Fossils, crystals, minerals, geodes. gemstones, antique bottles, seashells..... I'll be back at Vineyard to check this out.
