Morro Dunes RV Park, Morro Bay, California

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We were the wagon masters for a weekend TT rally of 14 units. Nice facilities, clean level grounds. Very hard pack gravel. Our only issue was on the weekends they tractor units in from storage for 'regulars' to use and the ones close to us looked more like homeless/vagrant trailers in serious need of a bath and cleaning. All HU's worked well, free cable, staff very helpful. We 'might' book our group here again as it is close to the rock, downtown, the Embarcadero and the bay, but we usually move around each year for a new area to see. We camped at Morro Dunes RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Morro Strand State Beach, Morro Bay, California

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

Combat camping in a corn row ... but ... it IS on the ocean. The nightly fee reflects the

Distinguished Veteran Pass that gives us 'free' fees for camping for all Calif State recreational locations. This is a special California category of pass. Nice level concrete for full HU's. No shade, but again, it's the beach, not the forest. Fab utility hookups, EZ access. Stayed 2 nights waiting for an RV rally to start in town. Would stay again. We camped at Morro Strand State Beach in a Travel Trailer.

Flagstaff KOA, Flagstaff, Arizona

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Older, typical KOA park that needs a lot of TLC and updating. Roads can be tight, spaces barely long enough and not really 'big rig friendly'. Water spigots are dual-site use so it may not be on the correct side. Our site was fairly level, but noticed some that would have been terrible. OK for a one-nighter, but might be looking elsewhere if we came back through. We camped at Flagstaff KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Very well maintained. Friendly, helpful staff. Guided to space after check-in. Convenient to Canon City and Royal Gorge park. Very level gravel sites with concrete patio and a walkway. Some spaces are shaded, some not. Enjoyed our stay. We camped at Mountain View RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Don't miss the Royal Gorge Route RR trip and at least drive out to the Royal Gorge Park to view the suspension bridge, zipline and tram. You can pay to enter and walk out to the bridge, or view it all from the free parking area.

Four Seasons RV Acres, Abilene, Kansas

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Good for a one-nighter. Fairly level gravel sites, FHU all worked well. No picnic table at our site, but wouldn't have used it anyway. Needs a little TLC and a lot of longterm units, maintained and clean areas. Didn't create any issues. Close together, considering everything in Texas is supposed to be B-I-G. Would stay again. We camped at Four Seasons RV Acres in a Travel Trailer.

RJ's RV Park, Garden City, Kansas

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

Appears to have been a KOA many years ago. Great for a one-nighter, it is right off old Hwy US50 so there is some traffic noise and a train or two, but very tolerable. Not many choices in this area. Park was clean, level gravel sites, decent hookups. No added amenities but that is reflected in the price for FHU. Easy access, seemed all sites were pull-through. Would stay again. We camped at RJ's RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Prairie Rose State Park, Harlan, Iowa

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed 1 night, also paid a $4 reservation fee. Great park, isolated and quiet. Most sites were empty on a Sunday night, most looked level, some ... not so much. Ours was level, FHU if you parked 15' away from the tower, water and sewer was even farther. Camp host had a space, but never saw anyone, maybe it was because a busy weekend was over. Lots of rabbits and birds. Would stay again. We camped at Prairie Rose State Park in a Truck Camper.

Waterloo / Lost Island Waterpark KOA, Waterloo, Iowa

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Typical KOA. A few good points, if you can get past the bad. Site was a pull-through uneven side to side, gravel over asphalt with weeds growing through. FHU worked good, as did the cable. Couldn't get the WIFI, too far away I guess. Stayed one night, they placed 2 charges on our c/c, different amounts for full nights. Confusion at front desk, on the way out they assured us it would be handled. Tonight we get an e-mail for a partial refund. Will get KOA Home involved if need be, but we shouldn't have to. Fueled in the front too at their pumps. Claims to be 87 unleaded, but after 1 day of driving, we lost 2+ mpg on that tank. Beware ... fuel elsewhere !! They concentrate heavy on their E-fuels, but I used the straight 87 hose. Refueled after 220+ miles and jumped up to our normal mpg. We camped at Waterloo / Lost Island Waterpark KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Ho-Chunk Casino Campground, Baraboo, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed 3 nights in a pull-thru. there are also back-ins and elec only sites. We had Full Hookups. Hard packed gravel, could use a slight leveling effort as the ground has settled. Casino has a free shuttle 24/7 back and forth to the RV lot. Buffet is lacking in quality for the price, better off in town at the Dells, lots of choices. Go to the HOTEL check-in before going to the CG. They issue a keycard for electric lock and access to hotel amenities. Gas station is discounted as are most Indian operated stations. It's off the Dells 'strip', but that worked for us. Close to the Circus Museum in Baraboo. Would stay again. We camped at Ho-Chunk Casino Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Ledge Park, Horicon, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park, still a bit hard to find, needs better signage. Park has been upgraded and has 30/50 amp power, at least ours did. Well kept and the camp hosts and crew were great. Stayed 4 nights while visiting family. Our site was the park handicap site, asphalt, but a bit unlevel. Other sites up the hill were closer together and looked like level dirt/grass/gravel. Free dump station for registered campers. Would stay again. We camped at Ledge Park in a Travel Trailer.

Wild West Campground & Corral, Amherst, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Price was a bit high, but after you're inside ... maybe not. Spacious, private sites for most, shady well kept grounds. Horse back riding available. We opted for the FHU, but for $35 you can get elec/wtr and a free dump. In heavy rains you may not want to enter. Dirt road and dirt sites, but level and grass-sided. Long dirt entry road that gets pretty narrow if you meet an opposing unit. But it's doable. Would like to return when we have more time. We camped at Wild West Campground & Corral in a Travel Trailer.

Bad River Lodge & Casino, Odanah, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

Needed a one nighter, no frills. This was it. 20 large, level and wide back-in spaces. Tower and spigot are set back a bit so a long-ish cord and hose would help. Back of the lot so highway noise is minimal. Restaurant and casino on site. You get a few discounts and freebies when checking in at the gift shop. Towers are locked, they come out and remove the key once you check in. Would stay again. We camped at Bad River Lodge & Casino in a Travel Trailer.

Spitit Lake Casino & Resort RV Park, Devils Lake, North Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Needed a place for one night. The website says all RV sites are booked for 2018 season, but they do have quite a few back-in sites in the parking areas set aside for RV's at $25 a night. We were going to take one of those but the hotel desk said they had a cancellation and a FHU site was open so we took that. A lot of seasonal and permanent units, but all in very good condition or park models. A recreation center on Devil's Lake. Site was level and they have a golfcar shuttle service from morning to midnight. 2 restaurants on site. RV sites are in a wooded area, so OTA or dish reception would be limited. We camped at Spitit Lake Casino & Resort RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
