Doheny State Beach, Dana Point, California

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed 5 nites. Spacious sites with small shrubs between. Well kept, clean and right on the beach. Lots of families with kids. They are very strict on out by Noon, NOT in before 2PM, and generator rules are strictly adhered to, allowed 10AM to 8PM. Bring your own firewood. The stuff the host was selling was pieces of soft pine, more like lumber cuts. Would stay again and great if you want to be right on the beach or within a few feet of walking to the sand. We camped at Doheny State Beach in a Travel Trailer.

Las Vegas KOA at Sam's Town, North Park (Formerly Nellis location), Las Vegas, Nevada

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Not many trees, a lot of open space in the heat. Site was clean and level, convenient to the casino and restaurant. Keeps you away from the nuts on the strip. Had to come up for a Vegas Wedding of a family member, stayed 3 days. Will be staying here again. Hookups worked well, WIFI ok and TV was sufficient. Who goes to Vegas for TV anyway ??? We camped at Las Vegas KOA at Sam's Town, North Park (Formerly Nellis location) in a Travel Trailer.

Camp Rilea (Military FamCamp), Camp Rilea Armed Forces Training CT, Oregon

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Second year here on our way back from Alaska. Full HU everything but the cable worked great. Our tower cable didn't work. Nice quiet place, geese all over, next to the range if they are using it daytime but quiet at night. Nice, safe camp close to areas we came to see. Would stay again. Price is marginal for a famcamp, but it is always like minded folks. We camped at Camp Rilea (Military FamCamp) in a Travel Trailer.

Kalaloch Campground (NPS Campground), Olympic National Park, Washington

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

Very small sites, but well spaced. Not designed for Big Rigs. Great 'home base' for beachcombing and visiting the Hoh Rain Forest and other local venues. Close to the Visitor Center. Would stay here again !! We camped at Kalaloch Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Swinomish Northern Lights Casino RV Park, Anacortes, Washington

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Due to early departure from Canada due to the wildfires, we had to stay 2 days at the casino. Everything else booked. Hard to pay $35 when the casino takes so much more. Isolated as this is, not likely you won't lose some here. Sites are great, full HU, well maintained. We camped at Swinomish Northern Lights Casino RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

K'san Campground, Hazelton, British Columbia

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Our second year staying here. Stayed a week, but our sightseeing was limited due to the BC wildfires. Plenty of firewood, but the burn ban was in effect. No campfires. A GREAT park, well maintained and a super location right on the river. Highly recommended !! We camped at K'san Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Camp Run A Muck, Hyder, Alaska

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed 4 nights for the bear viewing. A fair deal, safe sites, could use a bunch of TLC, but water and electric were good, (we skipped the sewer). WIFI is very weak and if a big rig blocks line of site to the office, forget it. Staff is friendly. Restrooms and showers need more cleaning, we used our onboard and the free dump station across from the Petro station in Stewart BC. Potholes need attention, drive slow.

If you miss the bears at the Forest Service deck, you may also catch a few near the Hyder landfill. Want bears (black and grizz) and eagles? THIS is the place. Be at the platform at 6am to avoid the Combat Cameras later in the day. We camped at Camp Run A Muck in a Travel Trailer.

Takhini Hot Springs, Whitehorse, Yukon

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Returned in 2017 after twice in 2016. Awesome park, spacious, mostly level gravel sites. Elec only since all their wells keep coming up with hot water ... it IS Takhini HOT SPRINGS. Showers are better than my house, except the cost, but reasonable and you can control the timer. Well worth the drive from Whitehorse and not a bad drive back and forth. In Whitehorse, go to the Visitor Center and get a 3 day FREE parking pass for any city street. We camped at Takhini Hot Springs in a Travel Trailer.

Cabelas parking lot, Anchorage, Alaska

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

Not much better than 'free'. Marked lot on the side, long double spaces. They do ask to limit stay to 48 hours. Secure part of town. Dump station on the lot - $5, coin-op. TY Cabella's !! We camped at Cabelas parking lot in a Travel Trailer.

Talkeetna Camper Park, Talkeetna, Alaska

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

One night. Close to everything ... but then, Talkeetna is a VERY small town. Convenient to RR, only a few trains, so not a noise factor. Spaces were designed for small Class C RV's. We only pull an 18' TT and had to disconnect. Only the trailer fit the spot. Very busy, reservations HIGHLY recommended. Would stay again, as we did last year. We camped at Talkeetna Camper Park in a Travel Trailer.

Black Spruce RV Park (Military FamCamp), Anchorage, Alaska

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed 3 nights. Had to take one of the 5 non-sewer sites, but happy to get in. No reservations accepted at this CG. Hosts are great and very interactive. Well kept and a pleasure to stay. All sites are roadside pull-throughs, plenty of space. Glad we opted for this instead of another location; !! Dining hall on the Army side was very good. Would definitely stay again !! We camped at Black Spruce RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Travel Trailer.

All Seasons Campground (formerly Countryboy Campground), Ninilchik, Alaska

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed 7 nights. Central to driving anywhere on the Kenai with ease. Level sites, 30 amp, they had some electric troubles, but didn't affect our site. Better spacing than most Kenai 'Combat Camping' CG's. Saw moose in the area several times. Would stay again !! We camped at All Seasons Campground (formerly Countryboy Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Hidden Lake Campground, Soldotna, Alaska

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $5.00
Overall Rating:

Directions from 2015 are accurate. There are 3 loops. Lake Loop has 6 sites, 1 is handicap and USFS is now enforcing usage. Great CG, EZ access, plenty of pit toilets. We had bear visitors through the park, but no interest in humans. 44 total sites, 5 handicapped mixed in the loops. Awesome CG for boondocking. Spacious wooded sites. Would stay again. Park is patrolled by USFS and Federal Officers regularly. We camped at Hidden Lake Campground in a Travel Trailer.
