Sand Castle RV Park, Long Beach, Washington

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

We have to disagree with the other reviews I have read about this park. We were here for two nights with the passport america rate, which was $45 for the two nights. The manager here has been one of the most helpful and friendly rv park managers we have ever dealt with in the past two years of full timing rv'ing. The wifi is fair to good and they have expanded cable, which the manager came over to our MH to help hook up the box for us. The park appears very clean and the lawns and grounds are kept up. We have a 34 foot MH and had no problem backing into our site with assistance lent by the manager. Large level, grassy site with full hook ups and plenty of room for both our slides. Quite with minimal road noise-would stay here again. We camped at Sand Castle RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The rv park is located in the small touristy seaside town of Long Beach-fun for clam chowder, t-shirt shops and poking around. On the way here from Seaside Or. we stopped at the Lewis and Clark national park just south of Astoria Or off Rt 101-informative visitors center with a reconstructed village area, easy to see in just a few hours and worth it. For bigger shopping Astoria has a costco and homedepot, and it is tax free in Or. Small local supermarket here in Long Beach.

Desert Palms Mobile Home & RV Park (Formally Bakersfield Palms RV Park, Bakersfield, California

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Having read other reviews I was not expecting much when we got to the park. We found a very friendly and helpful manager-was able to get directions from him and even borrow a ladder to fix something on our MH. Good cable and WiFi, very clean sites and we were completely in a different section of the park from the long term residents. You are right next to a railroad track, and it would have been noisy except it was hot and with the ACs on the noise was not bad. It is a good park for a short stay, but probably because we did not really like Bakersfield for much longer. We camped at Desert Palms Mobile Home & RV Park (Formally Bakersfield Palms RV Park in a Motorhome.

Sunset Harbor RV Park, Crescent City, California

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Older, run down park with many long term residents. Basic cable but we did not have WiFi. Did not visit every RV park in town, but the ones we saw all seemed run down like this one. We camped at Sunset Harbor RV Park in a Motorhome.

Furnace Creek (NPS Campground), Death Valley National Park, California

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Very strange set up for the utilities at this park. Our 36 ft MH has sewer about 10ft forward from the driver's side rear bumper and the electric hook-up is at the rear corner on the driver's side. We found the sewer connection at the park all the way behind the back of the motorhome almost in the spot that would be behind us-barely was able to connect to the sewer as we had a back-in site. Also have never seen something like this before but the plug for the electrical was installed upside down. What I thought was a cable TV connection just had a female connector end and was not able to connect, and there was no wifi. Would ask for a pull thru site next time. We camped at Furnace Creek (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Very average restaurants near park and over priced, good gift shop near campground. Would go back in winter or spring next time. Try to see in the park: bad water, art's drive, 20 mule drive and see dante's view at sunset.

Very friendly staff, good WiFi and basic cable. Gravel lots, fairly level. Did find the travel lanes in the park relatively narrow to drive down but basically no problem with our RV. Would stay here again. We camped at Riverside RV Park in a Motorhome.

Good clam chowder at Sportsman's marina restaurant across the street. Check out all the pull outs and view points on 101 north, especially Arch Rock, Whales head rock, and Harris state park beach.

Totonaka RV Park, San Carlos, Sonora

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

This is the only rv park we have stayed at in Mexico so far. It is located about5-6 hours south of the Nogales Az. border. You travel on good highways to the park which seem very safe at least during the day. The park probably has the nicest and most helpful manager of any park I have ever been too, on either side of the border!! It has wide spaces that are grass and dirt, 30 amp electrical, with non-potable water, and sewer at each site. Good english cable TV and good wifi at each site. The park feels very safe with a night security guard and locked gate. Overall the town of San Carlos I believe is very safe for tourists. The manager can make arrangements to have a 5 gal container of purified drinking water delivered to your site whenever you need it for about $1.25. Would definitely return next time in Mexico. Lots of Rv'ers use this as a stop before making the trip down to Mazatalan; I was told it takes about 12 hours to get their from San Carlos. We camped at Totonaka RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

San Carlos is a small tourist town, very nice marina with good restaurants around it-try Hammerheads for pub fare. There is a local supermarket in town as well as a very good smaller market with a butcher. Just across from the RV park is the sea of cortez, and beautiful beaches not far away. About 15 miles away is the town of Guaymus with a walmart, propane, and larger supermarkets and pharmacies.
