Forsyth KOA, Forsyth, Georgia

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

We had a site in the back-was a new section. No trees around. Road through campground was very rough, narrow, and pitted. Entrance was confusing. We camped at Forsyth KOA in a Motorhome.

Starke / Gainesville N.E. KOA, Starke, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Located right off Highway 301, this park is easy to find and pull into. Our site was a nice wide space with a large oak tree to shade it. Sites were fairly separated and privately situated. Park was very clean and neat, including pool and restrooms. We didn't hear any traffic noise. The staff in the office and on the grounds are friendly and helpful. We camped at Starke / Gainesville N.E. KOA in a Motorhome.

Obey the speed limit on Highway 301; it's a notorious speed trap! Sonny's BBQ is close by - a family chain that's very good.

Tucson / Lazydays KOA, Tucson, Arizona

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Campsite was beautiful with a stone patio, grassy area, and a lemon tree-plus a nice asphalt spot for our tow car. We picked lemons from the tree-they were as big as grapefruit! The office staff were very nice and they have someone patrolling for security so we felt very safe. Visited San Xavier Mission, Tucson Mountain Park and Saguaro National Park--all worth visiting! Best was Mt. Lemon in the Coronado National Forest. It's a 28 mile drive up the mountain with incredible vistas starting with cactus at the bottom and going up through rocks, then trees, and snow on the top--of course it's a lot cooler on top so bring a sweater. We camped at Tucson / Lazydays KOA in a Motorhome.

Travelers World RV Resort, San Antonio, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park; clean and quiet. Like someone else said, the surrounding area is "iffy" but we felt safe and the people at the front desk were friendly and very helpful. The first day we took a tour bus trip of San Antonio including the Missions, the Alamo, and parts of the River Walk. We took a bus (stop located across the street) to join the tour group. It was good--just went through some of the stops awfully quickly. The next two days we toured San Antonio on our own and used Uber drivers. We liked Uber much better than the bus and it was not expensive--plus we got to go on our own time schedule. This park is very convenient to all the attractions in San Antonio--We would definitely stay there again. We camped at Travelers World RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Make sure you phone the campground ahead of time and get directions--do not use GPS! There are some RV unfriendly roads you'll need to avoid.
Must see: On Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday nights, the illuminated Cathedral downtown. At 9pm they put on an amazing laser light show with music depicting the history of San Antonio--beautiful!!!
Also, we found the best restaurant outside of the river walk--it was across the street in the "market" and called Mi Tierra.

Anthony/El Paso West KOA (formerly American RV & Marine Resort & Rally, Anthony, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Very desert looking environment. Big wind at night; didn't get much sleep due to the wind. The campground was sparse - not too many amenities but the grounds were clean and the spaces were large. We walked around the campground in the evening and were warned to stay on the road and look out for rattle snakes! We didn't see any snakes. The people in the office were very friendly and helpful. Good TV channels. We camped at Anthony/El Paso West KOA (formerly American RV & Marine Resort & Rally in a Motorhome.

If you like Tamales, there is only one place to go and it's located about 5 minutes from the park. It's Tamales Lupita. Not a restaurant - take out only, but you can get one or a half dozen or a dozen. Best tamales ever!!! I sampled the traditional red, the chicken, and the cheese--all were so good!

Junction/North Llano River RV Park, Junction, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $37.00

Big spaces and trees! Our campsite had a little pagoda with two glider chairs, a pot with flowers, a smoker, fire pit, and a stone patio. So nice! We checked in after hours and one of the managers, Sam, came out and escorted us to our spot. We walked the loop and also walked down to the river. Lovely! Good TV channels and Internet too! We camped at Junction/North Llano River RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed one night on our way home. It's a family run campground and they don't take credit cards for payment. The owner was very friendly and the campground was clean and quiet. They charge a few dollars extra for Wi-Fi. We camped at Eagles Landing RV Park in a Motorhome.

Midway RV Park, Vacaville, California

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Lots of Eucalyptus trees but we still had room to maneuver our coach into a pull through spot. Very shady, quiet, and safe. We left for a few days and drove to San Francisco; was an easy drive. There's a large outlet mall nearby and some excellent restaurants in nearby towns. The manager was helpful and friendly. Liked that they had free movie DVDs. We camped at Midway RV Park in a Motorhome.

Large pull through sites; easy to navigate roads. Park was clean and quiet and secure. Great place to stay and visit Hoover Dam, Valley of Fire State Park, and Las Vegas.

We walked down to the lake - it was a bit of a hike, but worth it. The lake with the mountains behind is beautiful!
We felt safe enough to leave the park for a few days and drive to the Grand Canyon! We camped at Lake Mead RV Village in a Motorhome.

The Lakes RV & Golf Resort, Chowchilla, California

Great place to stay when visiting Yosemite. Beautiful site across from a lovely fountain; incredibly well kept park. Gated and secure. Lots of shrubs between sites made for more privacy. We'd been through some dirt and mud on the way there and the manager recommended someone to come to the site and clean our RV. He did a great job! We camped at The Lakes RV & Golf Resort in a Motorhome.
