Sugarite Canyon State Park, Raton, New Mexico

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed 3 nights in the Lake Alice campground in lot 12. Was very nice, had ranger talks in the morning with coffee and doughnuts and ranger talks and walks at night also . The lakes were beautiful, and the campgrounds were kept very clean. Nicest state park I have ever stayed in. Roads and sites in Alice were gravel and cement, some not too level, but we got our 34-footer level easy enough.

Spent 2 nights up top in the Soda Pocket campground dry camping. Beautiful sites and lots of trees, mostly level with tables nice big covers and fire pits. Big spaces, spaced quite far apart. We camped at Sugarite Canyon State Park in a Motorhome.

Starlite Classic Campground, Canon City, Colorado

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

We had a great stay. The owners are great, very down to earth and helpful. This is a place of peace and quiet, with large spaces and some have nice trees. The vintage stuff is great and set up nicely. No, the roads and spaces are not paved, but very level and clean.

When we came in they were mowing grass and doing daily chores. Was nice to see everything was kept up and clean. If you are looking for cement, lots of frills and uppity folks....this is not the place for you. This is down home, peaceful, and no frills. But you will be treated right and looked after nicely.

We were in a 34 ft RV with 4 people, 5 dogs, and 2 cars. we had no problems getting around the campground or getting into space. Will stay again next year. Had a great view of the canyon and the bridge at night. We camped at Starlite Classic Campground in a Motorhome.
