Manchester State Park, Port Orchard, Washington

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed two nights and had a delightful stay. Staff very friendly. They even were trimming bushes at 8:00pm. Very woody sites, nice path to beach. Restrooms very clean so we'd stay here again. We camped at Manchester State Park in a Motorhome.

Iron Horse RV Resort, Elko, Nevada

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Park is set off road plus you can use the Hilton Hotel's pool and business center. I needed some printing done, so that worked perfectly. Big, clean laundry room and showers. Level sites. Staff very professional. Great place! We camped at Iron Horse RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Horseshoe Casino RV Park, Council Bluffs, Iowa

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Sites are VERY close together, Can't put out awnings. No picnic tables. I called ahead and was told there was WiFi. When I registered they said the WiFi was inside the casino and I could bring my computer inside.

Showers were basically in good shape but needed a deep cleaning. Wads of hair in drain, and you could tell showers hadn't been washed in weeks. Water flow was a lukewarm trickle.

Would not go back. We camped at Horseshoe Casino RV Park in a Motorhome.

Mallard Bend Campgrond & RV Park, Sheridan, Illinois

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

We needed to be in this location and this was the only campground in the area. Driving in, I was impressed with the clean pool, lots of flowers and freshly painted fence. I was shocked at paying $60.00! Staff was friendly but that doesn't justify such a high cost. No cable or internet unless you sat on their porch with a computer. Bathrooms were average. The dump station was situated so your RV is tilted in such a way that your tanks can't drain. How can a campground charge so much for just a bit of space? We camped at Mallard Bend Campgrond & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Rock Cut State Park, Loves Park, Illinois

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

We've been full-timing for 3 months and this was the worst park we've been at. The person at the front desk was friendly, but kept confusing credit cards, site numbers, etc. We were in the "100" numbered campground section which I would avoid at all costs. All the other sections had level sites. We "tried out" 4 sites before finding one we could make work because they were all so sloped. We watched other people come in and get super frustrated with their site. Some people left and came back with wood to raise their trailer or RV. The bathrooms had a flimsy shower in the center of the restrooms. The men's restroom had a sharp metal rusty bar down the center and was dirty. If you stay in the 200-500 section campground area you'll have level sites and cleaner bathrooms. Avoid the 100 area! We camped at Rock Cut State Park in a Motorhome.

Geneseo Campground, Geneseo, Illinois

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

The campground location is right on the Hennefin Canal bike path. We rode 24 miles and could have kept going. They rent bikes as well as kayaks and canoes so you can get plenty of exercise. A very well stocked store that includes the owner's collection of pins. Fun to just look at the thousands of pins in his collection. Clean facilities, level sites, and friendly staff. We camped at Geneseo Campground in a Motorhome.

Hollywood Casino Hotel & RV Resort, Joliet, Illinois

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

What a find! We wouldn't have considered camping at an casino but all the state parks were full. we're glad we stayed! Nice clean restrooms with fabric shower curtains. Level sites, picnic tables, mostly treed sites. Water and sewer at each site. Nice water park within walking distance if you sneak through some trees. Simply walk to the hotel for a free breakfast with fruit, oatmeal, eggs, bacon, etc. Fun bonus! Staff at hotel were polite but gave us little information about the nearby bike trail, how to get to Joliet and other basic questions we asked. But everything else was wonderful. We camped at Hollywood Casino Hotel & RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Brown County KOA (formerly The Last Resort RV Park) , Nashville, Indiana

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This park was well maintained. Staff were very friendly, even when I interrupted them while they were eating dinner! You could tell staff cared about cleanliness in the restrooms and laundry room. Great place to camp.

A clean pool was available. Sites were all fairly flat and the location close to Nashville made this a great place to camp while exploring the area. The entrance to the park is a slight hill, but shouldn't be a problem. We camped at Brown County KOA (formerly The Last Resort RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Old Mill Run Park Campground, Thorntown, Indiana

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We work while on the road, so I called to ask about Wi-Fi. The staff person said they had a hot spot and it worked well. When I arrived and registered, the same person told me the hotspot only worked around the camp office and they were closing in an hour. We would not have stayed if we knew that ahead of time. So we stayed one night instead of the two nights we expected.

That said, the park is big! 320 sites, so it has lots of planned recreation activities plus a mini-golf course, pool, and pond. Restrooms were basic and clean. Looks like a majority of the sites are permanent campers, but everything was well kept and in good shape. Level sites with a few shade trees. We camped at Old Mill Run Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Prophetstown State Park, West Lafayette, Indiana

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This State park has an amazing bike path that goes to a Pioneer Village, aquatic center and working historical farm. Clean restrooms! During the summer, you can pay $2.00 on some nights and go to the aquatic center after hours and "walk" the lazy river. Great exercise. We're from Seattle but would come back. The sites are all level. The "older' part of the park has lots of shade trees. we stayed in the newer section so trees weren't as dense, but we still had shade. We camped at Prophetstown State Park in a Motorhome.
