Shady Grove Campground, Denver, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

First off I'd like to say that the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The campground is very conveniently located near an entrance to the Pennsylvania turnpike. With that said, there was no traffic nose from the turnpike, there was some road noise from a nearby road but that wasn't too bad. The interior roads were wide but they did have a few bumps that were rather large. The campsites were all gravel. From our campsite there was a grassy area for walking our dog, so that was nice. Our campsite was pretty level. The hook ups were conveniently located. The water pressure was ok for most of our visit although there were a few times where it seemed a little weak. The electric was fine, no sags that I noticed. Sewer was convenient for me, however the connection was not threaded. I did not care for that. You needed to place something heavy on the sewer hose to keep it in the connection while dumping the black and gray tanks. The store had a few basics but was not really well stocked. They did have gold cart rentals that ran $40.00 for 24 hours and they rented paddle boats which you could use to explore the pond. The price for that was $2.00 per half hour, one of the cheapest prices I've ever seen for that that of thing. The fishing in the pond was pretty good. The pond has Bass, Bluegills and Catfish. We camped at Shady Grove Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Starlite Camping Resort, Stevens, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We made a late reservation to Starlite, but they were able to accommodate us. Our site had full hook ups. The Staff was very friendly and helpful. The store was very well stocked. It had everything one could want. The site was pretty level. I did need to use some leveling blocks but when I did the trailer was dead on. The connections were convenient. If I had to find something to nitpick it would be that the sewer connection was not threaded and you had to find a heavy object to put on top of it to make sure that the hose didn't come out of the ground. Also, our site was a little difficult to back into because the interior roads are narrow. Our site was wooded which afforded us quite a bit of privacy. Bathrooms were clean. The view from the plateau sites was really nice. Highly recommended. We will definitely be back. We camped at Starlite Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Mountain Vista Campground, East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

We camped on Father's Day weekend. The campground was in a hilly setting, keep in mind it's called Mountain Vista. Staff was very friendly. Store was well stocked. Plenty of activities for kids. Pool was nice but on the small side. Our campsite was very wooded, set into the side of a hill but is was pretty level. The roads in the campground were pretty easy to navigate but they were steep in spots. We were escorted to our site by a staff member. One negative was the entrance to the campground, the parking area outside of the office was narrow and on a steep hill. Our site had full hookups, the water pressure though was a bit low. Our site was a bit narrow but my wife and I liked it quite a bit. I fished in the pond that's across the street from campground. The fishing was a little slow but there are some big bass in there. All in all a really good trip. We will definitely be going back. We camped at Mountain Vista Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Silver Valley Campsites, Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at Silver Valley the first weekend in May. The campsite we had was very level but also narrow. The staff was friendly and the store pretty well stocked. The fishing in the two ponds was not that great. The campground was mostly seasonals. Most were in good repair but not all. We traveled with friends of ours and we had buddy sites so our doors opened up facing each, that was nice. All in all a pretty good trip. We camped at Silver Valley Campsites in a Travel Trailer.

Luray KOA (formerly Luray RV Resort Country Waye), Luray, Virginia

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

This was our Autumn trip to Virginia. This is our fifth trip to this campground, still my favorite campground of all those I've stayed at or visited. This trip we had a back in site that overlooked hill which gave us great views of the valley, farms and of course the mountains. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed for the week. This campground is so well maintained and kept up. Our site featured a new fire pit and concrete block sitting area overlooking the hill and countryside. They are always trying to improve the campground, a very nice touch. We were right across the lane from the bathrooms. These were very clean and well taken care of. Water pressure was fine, as was the electrical hookup and the sewer hookup. All in all an excellent campground. We will be back inn the spring. We camped at Luray KOA (formerly Luray RV Resort Country Waye) in a Travel Trailer.

Warwick Woods Campground, Elverson, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice campground. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Upon booking I was told that I should make sure that I had at least 50 feet of fresh water hose because the hook up was a good distance from the campsite where we were booked. Upon arrival at the campground we checked and was then escorted to our campsite. It was after sunset so that was greatly appreciated. I don't think I would have found my campsite without the help. The staff also brought up a 50 foot fresh water hose and it's a good thing too as my two 25 foot hoses together would have been three feet short. the campsite itself was pretty deep and very wide. One of the nice things about their website is if you click on the campsite it will show you the actual campsite, usually several pictures. My campsite was all gravel, the size of the gravel was on the smaller size. The campsite was no very level from side to side, it was a challenge leveling. There were many seasonals there, but they were well maintained. The store was not well stocked but that might be because it was approaching the end of the season. The campground was very wooded so the campground name fits. Water pressure seemed a bit low. Electricity worked fine, no apparent line sags. The last thing is the interior roads were very tight, trees close to the road edge making traversing them a little difficult. There were also several rocks near the edge of the roadways. We camped at Warwick Woods Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Country Acres Campground, Gordonville, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

This is the nicest campground that I've been to in Pennsylvania. The grounds were immaculate, the sites were very large. We were in the newer section and the trees were only about 12 feet tall. This was not an issue because we did not need shade. We had nice fall weather. We were there for the annual balloon fest, which is only about three miles away. Water pressure was good and the electric was very stable, friends that went with us said that the cable TV was good. My wife and I don't watch TV while camping. The sewer hookup was very convenient as well. Even though the campground was obviously in a hilly area, the individual sites were as level as I have ever seen. The store was small, but had all the necessities. Bathrooms were clean. They have a small dog park which was nice. Gave my dog a chance to run off leach. This campground is very conveniently located to the many attractions in the area. Excellent campground, I can't say enough about them. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this campground. My wife and I will be back. We camped at Country Acres Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Appalachian Campsites, Shartlesville, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $68.00
Overall Rating:

We were very excited to visit this campground. There were pluses and minuses to the campground. First the positives: The roads were pretty easy to navigate, our site was easy to pull in to, there was a greeter at the main gate with our paperwork, made it very easy to check in, this I think was because it was 4th of July weekend. There was a live band one night and a DJ the next, the proximity of our sites to the stage made it easy for us to sit at our campsites and enjoy the music. My wife and I do not have small children but there were many activities to keep kids busy. The pool was nice but perhaps a little on the small side. The camp store was stocked with the basics. The ice cream store was also very nice. The campground was also nicely kept, very clean. Now for the negatives: While the pull sites were very long, they were also very narrow. Our door opened up to a common space that was shared by our neighbors. Now, in our case our neighbors were our very good friends who went along with us. The sites alternated in which direction you pulled in. So our door and our friends door opened up towards each other. Our campers were so close to one another that we could not put our awnings all the way out without bumping into each other. there were two fire rings and two picnic tables in the common space. For us wasn't a problem but if you didn't know your neighbors you'd have to pick the one you wanted to use. As far as the campsite itself, it was far from level. I've never been in a campsite so unlevel before. Out friends camper was so high in the front that their bottom step was about three feet off the ground. Fortunately, they had a foldable step that they could use to get in their trailer. The last thing I would like to point out is that the claimed "Well stocked" pond was a disappointment. Over three days of fishing I only caught one Bass, it was the only fish I saw that was caught over those three days. We camped at Appalachian Campsites in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

If travelling to the campground from the east on I78 be aware that there is construction right at the exit where you get off. When leaving the campground and you want to go back east you have to get on I78 west until you get to the next off-ramp where you can turn around. There is also a large Walmart and Cabelas about six miles to the east on I78.

Robin Hill Camping Resort, Lenhartsville, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $64.00
Overall Rating:

We found the campground at Robin Hill to be a very nice place. Our site was spacious and open. One concern is that it was very tight to back into. We had to move the sign out in front of the seasonal site across from us to get into our site, but once that was done we backed in with moderate effort. Once in the site it was easy to level it. Water pressure was good. Both electrical and sewer hook ups were convenient. The back of our site backed up to a farmers field with a thick tree line between it and our site. The site had a picnic table and fire ring. The site was very quiet and relaxing.

The store was well stocked and the people there were very friendly. The grounds were well maintained. The pond it held many large fish, definitely a plus for me. As others have pointed out, there are many seasonal campers here, but in our section they were well maintained and those who we spoke to were very nice and friendly. The roads in the campground were a little tight but we managed just fine. Our friends used the pool and they said that was very nice. They also have a large game room. We will definitely be going back. We camped at Robin Hill Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

This was our fourth trip to this campground. It is very picturesque. Surrounded by mountains, very beautiful. New this year, the entrance road has been paved, which is nice. The interior roads are still gravel but are well maintained and easy to navigate. Also new this year is the addition of more deluxe patio sites. The site that we've stayed at in the past has been upgraded to a deluxe patio site and it is very nice. I highly recommend these sites. The grounds are always well manicured. We really love this park. My dog enjoys the bark Park where he can run off leash. Water pressure is good, electrical hookups and sewer connections work as expected. We will be returning there in the fall. This is my favorite campground! We camped at Luray KOA (formerly Luray RV Resort Country Waye) in a Travel Trailer.

Pine Cradle Lake Campground, Rome, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed there for the 4th of July weekend. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Someone even came down to our site with us to show us where it is and to help back in. The roads and all of the sites were gravel. My site was level where the camper was parked but right outside the door was a fairly steep hill sloping away from the camper. That made it a little tough getting in and out the camper. The gravel in the site was also pretty large, more like rocks than gravel. That was really the only negative to the campground. The grounds were well maintained, the lake was very nice. The fishing was pretty good. They had fireworks the Saturday night before fourth and they were really nice. The store was pretty well stocked. They have a cell phone booster in the store which was nice because reception there was not very good, but that's not the campgrounds fault. I prefer not to be bothered when I'm camping anyway. The other campers were also very nice, there are many seasonal campers there. The campsites were well spaced but some of the sites were tight because of the trees in them. We camped at Pine Cradle Lake Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is very well maintained and landscaped. I like the dog run (and so does my dog). There is plenty of open space for kids to run around and play in. The scenery can't be beat, the Massanutten mountain on one side and Skyline drive on the other. The staff was very friendly and pleasant. Our site looked out over a farmer's field and out to the mountains in the distance. The hookups worked very well, no issues with power or water. Sewer worked as expected. The site we had was very level. Picnic table/patio area was very nice, right outside our door so that it could be covered by the awning. The other campers are very friendly as well. There are some seasonal campers but not many, they are also on the other side of the campground. The pool is very nice. This is my favorite campground. We will be returning here again in the fall. Tohickon Family Campground, Quakertown, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

My wife and I were looking for a campground nearby where we could go and just unwind for a few days. This campground met all of our requirements. It was close, had sewer hook ups and the site was pretty level. We went on Father's Day weekend. I was expecting it to be packed but there were several transient sites available. There were many seasonal campers here as had been stated in previous reviews, but the campground has done a very nice job of separating the seasonals from the transient campers. The site we were assigned was fine for our camper which is 33 feet long. I had to park my tow vehicle perpendicular to the trailer so that it wouldn't stick out in the road, but to me that was not a big deal. Previous reviews made too big a deal out of that in my opinion. The sites in our section were gravel, not dirt that had been mentioned in earlier reviews, that must have been updated. The picnic table that we had was very nice, it looked new and appeared to be of high quality. Our site overlooked the creek in the distance, very pretty setting. Fishing was OK in the creek. The store was adequately stocked with a few essentials. Everyone of the staff was very friendly. We will definitely return. We camped at Tohickon Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Our stay was very nice. The campground is very well groomed and clean. Our site was very level, as were most sites. The office staff was very friendly. The store was well stocked with all of the essentials. Plenty of open space for games and kids to run around. Playground seemed to be very nice as well. My only complaint, and this is no reflection on the campground or the staff, as noted in other reviews I-78 is very nearby and it is pretty loud. If that interstate had been a river or creek instead this would be a 10 star review. We camped at Pine Hill RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
