Rincon Country West RV Resort (55+ park), Tucson, Arizona

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Who could believe that until January you can get a Passport America discount at a place like this! We were looking for a stop on the way through the area in December of 2017, this popped up on a search through Passport America and decided to give it a try. Impressive to say the least. As we pulled in and were setting up a couple parked near us invited us for Happy Hour, so friendly all through this beautiful resort. Meticulously manicured and impressive! We used our own Internet and had great 4g coverage with both Verizon & AT&T. We stayed in one of the courtyard sites with a green grass square in the middle. Very close to a back gate that lead to great biking and hiking. We liked it so much we stayed for a week in January of 2018 without the discounted price! someday when we don't want to move around as much as we do I could see spending the entire season here! We camped at Rincon Country West RV Resort (55+ park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Lake Athens Marina and RV Park, Athens, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Needed a place to stay around Athens, this was suggested by a friend. Pretty nice place although maybe a bit more expensive for the amenities they have. Good 4g coverage with both Verizon & AT&T. Clear view for our DirecTV antenna too. We camped at Lake Athens Marina and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

We needed a spot while in the area and we chose Diamond Jacks, great location, we had good 4g Internet with our Verizon & AT&T. Nothing super fancy, but a good place to spend a few day with FHU. We camped at DiamondJacks Casino and Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Dream Catcher RV Park - Escapees Rainbow Park, Deming, New Mexico

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

We were needing a place while traveling through the area and decided to stay at this Escapees Rainbow Park. We used our own Internet and had good 4g with both Verizon & AT&T. These Escsapee's parks are some of the friendliest places we stay at. Just not much to do right here, would probable stop again while passing through in the dry camping area and save even more but for 18 pretty reasonable for FHU. We camped at Dream Catcher RV Park - Escapees Rainbow Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Rainbow's End - Escapees Rainbow Park, Livingston, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

Needed to stay for a few days to use Smart Weigh, pulled in after dark and settled in to site #82 right next to weigh station. Had good 4g with both Verizon & AT&T, and good clear view for my DirecTV antenna. Got here the day after the pool closed. So happy hour and the tours were what we chose to do. We camped at Rainbow's End - Escapees Rainbow Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Circle T Resort, Hamilton, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This RV park is mainly intended for those with horses attending events, but it is available to the public. These are back in sites very close to one another. The site I was at had covered horse stalls directly behind the site, would be very convenient if I had horses here. Very poor cell and data service both Verizon & AT&T. Free Wi-Fi was barely good enough for checking email. 50 amp electrical & Water all worked good. There are no sewer hook-ups or dump station on site. We stayed for an event, but without data service wouldn't stay any longer than necessary. We camped at Circle T Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Heart of Texas Fair Complex (Not open to the Public) , Waco, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here while working an event in October the last few years. Lots of 50,30,20 amp FHU sites, some just water & elec. All utilities work great. Being right in Waco: lots of OTA TV. It's wide open so satellite reception also good. Cell and data service is good, but can slow considerably during events, so be prepared for that! Great RV site while attending an event. We camped at Heart of Texas Fair Complex (Not open to the Public) in a Fifth Wheel.

Texas Station, Gatesville, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Needed a place to stay for a few days in the area. Called and found vacancy in what is referred to as Texas Station 2. Security Gate out front so the attendant gave me the code to gain access and said to call when we got there. Called several times and just got the voice mail, so they had said only one pull-thru was available and after looking found site #6 open, so we pulled in and set up. After a half hour or so they finally called back apologizing for missing our call back and that they had an issue with a client at the other park. Overall very nice quiet park. although lots of shade had a hole in the canopy enough for my satellite to get a signal. Also had plenty of Verizon 4G LTE Data with speeds of 8.13 mbs/down. Very good place for a few days and at $15/day a great price to boot! We camped at Texas Station in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Although the interior roads of the park would be difficult to maneuver (due to tight turns and low branches) our 35' Toy Hauler, it was easy from our site to just back-up to leave. There was enough room to park our TV behind and to the side of our site. Very close proximity to a Super Walmart and Gatesville. Be sure to visit the Museum downtown and one of the largest spur collections in the world!

Alcock County Park, Frederika, Iowa

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Decided to try this park rather than stay in a Walmart for the night. Very convenient location to US 63. Was quite surprised when we arrived. Very nice well kept park, it was kind of tight getting around with our 35' toyhauler with lots of trees and had to trim a branch or two, but being very careful and moving slowly was able to back into site 10 on the loop right on the bank of the river. Self serve park, camping fee was $10 +$5 for electricity. Electric was 30 amp. Was one camper and a van when we pulled in right by the entrance, but back along the river we were all alone. We had great Verizon & AT&T Data. Had a dump station and water available. Firewood available for $5 donation. Would have dry camped for $10, but so much shade decided to opt for the additional $5 for electricity. We camped at Alcock County Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We were able to stay in our 35' toyhauler, but I would not call this big rig friendly. Very nice park, would stay again if in the area. Lots of trees in this park, weather was good so we stayed, but if storms were forecast would not feel comfortable staying here.

Dakotah Meadows RV Park, Prior Lake, Minnesota

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

Rate reflects the April weekly rate. One of the only parks open this time of the year in the Twin Cities area. We were certainly not disappointed! Very reasonable weekly rate, here is a discount available on the daily rate with AAA or FMCA. Very clean park overall and well maintained. Utilities worked great. Had clear satellite TV reception, good Verizon (7.75mps down) & AT&T (9.82mps down) Data connections, never tried park wi-fi. Free shuttle to casino, and fitness center. Very friendly and helpful staff. The only thing missing is a dog park, but there is plenty of places to walk along sidewalks. Will definitely stay here again! We camped at Dakotah Meadows RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Kofa Ko-Op - Escapees Park (members only), Yuma, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

First time at an Escapees park. We were in the area to get Dental work done and had been boondocking, but hi temps forced us to get a break from the heat and get hookups. Very helpful staff, clean park. A little out of town but still close enough to work. Great Verizon signal with fast Data speeds 10.03 mbs dwn, 11.71mbs up AT&T data signal good speeds 5.15mbs dwn, .75mbs up. Nice Gravel lots with patio. Utilities work well. Sites are metered and you are charges seperately for electricity. LP is also available on Tues, thurs & Saturday at 2 pm. Laundry and pool area veery nice and clean. Super nice off leash dag park. Overall very nice park we will definitely return! We camped at Kofa Ko-Op - Escapees Park (members only) in a Fifth Wheel.

Catalina Spa RV Resort, Desert Hot Springs, California

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is an older park but under new management that is currently working hard to renovate. We needed a break after boondocking in the desert and stayed to treat ourselves to the mineral pool & spa and FHU's for a night. We wish we had stayed longer. Very nice staff, very nice people. Beautiful pool area. We also had an awesome dinner and breakfast the following morning both very reasonably priced and excellent too! Would definitely stay here again! Very nice dog park with green grass! The only downside was that the roads are very tight, but as long as you go slow (posted speed is 5 mph) you should be fine. La Mesa RV Park, Cortez, Colorado

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We needed a place to overnight while passing through the area. We came in late, had to call the owner on the phone and wait for them to arrive in a bout 15 minutes. Very helpful once they were there in getting us settled in. The went above and beyond to make sure we had a water source for the night and took some extra time to set up for the expected overnight freezing temps to insure there would be no problems. Would definitely stop in again if in the area. We camped at La Mesa RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
