Rocky Top Campground, Blountville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Outstanding owners! I was greeted with a smile and preprinted paperwork. We spent more time laughing and scratching than doing the details! It's a small park, so call ahead, but it has pull throughs for us big boys and smaller popup type sites as well. This is such a breath of fresh air compared to so many other parks we stay in. We full-time and travel, so we stay in quite a number of rv parks during the year. This is absolutely better than any KOA we've stayed at and far better than most other $40 a night parks. Highly recommended for all adult rv'ers! It's 55 and over. We camped at Rocky Top Campground in a Motorhome.

Camp Turkeyville RV Resort, Marshall, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This a KOA with more room between sites and wide roads. Great staff and a nice, rural dog-friendly setting. Very, very busy on weekends, with lots of family camping. The only knock on this park is the extremely low water pressure. It wouldn't have been a problem, except that our 12 volt water pump failed and we couldn't boost the pressure. Had to suffer with "Dribble Showers"! We camped at Camp Turkeyville RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Close to the historic town of Marshall, with many restored 19th century homes: must see! Go into Marshall, MI, get a cup of coffee at Bigbee, and tour the historic residential district. They say there are 850 historic homes!

Water Tower RV Park, Lapeer, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This is a no frills park. Clean, and adjacent to a city park complex, but definitely not a destination. Sites are very close, and larger rig sites are limited. However, the price is very reasonable. We were dissappointed with the managers, who felt compelled to micro manage those of us who only stayed a few nights. We were continually advised of the 5 mph speed limit, told to move our portable satellite dish 2' to the south, and told that we should have parked 12" closer to a tree because "I have a Newell that parks closer". Ok.....? This is an ok park, but we won't return. We camped at Water Tower RV Park in a Motorhome.

Ventura Beach RV Resort, Ventura, California

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $73.00
Overall Rating:

NOW I UNDERSTAND! I wondered why only 2 stars for a facility that looked so nice online. Now I know. First, access to the park is awful, requiring the navigation of narrow, busy surface streets with sharp turns, particularily from the south and east. Office staff gave us directions as if we were driving a Ferrari instead of a 43' motorhome with a tow car. We're unfamiliar with the area, so we had no idea. Second, the rules and regulations are oppressive. Wrist bands are required (and checked) at all times, even when walking the dog within the park. Daily dog fee is $5, and if you have guests, a $5 wrist band is required for each person as well as a $5 car pass PER DAY! The park is well maintained, and attractive, but narrow streets and congested parking detract from the experience. Heaven help you if you need to drive your Class A motorhome out on a Saturday! Even a car has to weave around parked vehicles! Nice facility, but far too focused on generating income. Together with the difficulty accessing the park, we don't feel that the $80+ (with tax) daily fee is appropriate. We camped at Ventura Beach RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Osage Beach RV Park, Osage Beach, Missouri

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Good, But not four stars. Old KOA that is dated and small. Ok for smaller rigs, but not for large motorhomes. Grounds are muddy in damp weather, marginally level, no OTA tv, and adverised wifi was always going to be fixed "soon, I hope". New owners have much to do, from getting rid of weeds growing through the gravel to moving the west dumpster so that the corner doesn't encroach on the tight corner turn. We camped at Osage Beach RV Park in a Motorhome.

Jonesburg Gardens Campground, Jonesburg, Missouri

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

While the owner was nice, he is fighting a losing battle against time and deterioration. I have no idea how this park can have as high a rating as it does...maybe it was nice 20 years ago, but now it is only a 50 year old park with junk cars, abandoned RVs, a scummy green pond and moss covered paddleboats that were apparently for rent. The roads are narrow and lined with trees that scratch RVs. The water system leaks so bad that several sites are only mud bogs, and the sites are so out of level that we could not get the motorhome properly set up. The office smells like the cigarette smoke, hasn't been aired out in years. Never, never, never again!! We camped at Jonesburg Gardens Campground in a Motorhome.

Daisy May Campground, Fort Macleod, Alberta

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

Old, old, park that desperately needs updating to justify the price. Dusty, dirty, and awkward to navigate. We had to squeeze by another motorhome as we left (mirrors kissing) because of the location of the dump station. Great office staff, but terrible park. Junk stacked in back of park near the river. Only stayed two nights because of business. Never again. We camped at Daisy May Campground in a Motorhome.

Dinosaur Trail RV Resort, Drumheller, Alberta

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Specifically requested 50 amp power and reasonably level site for our class A motorhome at time of booking. E-mail confirmation included those requests, so I know the office was aware of our preferences. On arrival, we were assigned a site where the door of the motorhome was inaccessible without a 3' ladder and only 30 amp power was available. We were moved to another, better, site, but the power remained an issue on a warm day due to health issues. Office blamed "the trainees". Sounds like a "trainer" problem, not a "trainee" problem. A reference was made to a partial good faith reimbursement, but after a month, nothing has been done. They call themselves a resort, but the park doesn't justify that name or the prices charged. Beware. We camped at Dinosaur Trail RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Los Suenos de Santa Fe RV Park, Santa Fe, New Mexico

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

Old park. Don't bring a motorhome here! Entry/exit from sites is difficult and some sites are worse than others. The park map (the one you get AFTER you've paid) even says that some are "hard access". 50 amp service is high on a pole on the opposite site of the site from where it should be, so the cord must be snaked under the rig, if it's long enough.

Staff is friendly but unable to handle the rigors of scheduling. We were promised a site, and paid a deposit, only to find on arrival that "our" site had been given to someone else. We were placed in another narrow site, backing and filling to get in, and then were told that someone else was coming in the next day, so we would have to move again.

I understand that it's location, location, location, but for the price, this park doesn't measure up. Look elsewhere. We camped at Los Suenos de Santa Fe RV Park in a Motorhome.

Singing Hills RV Park & Campground, Cave City, Kentucky

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

Five star? Nope. Clean, with large grass play fields, and pleasant staff, but the interior roads are very narrow and dusty, the sites are narrow and out of level and the water pressure and wifi are poor. Ok for short stay, I guess, because of the location near Mammoth Cave, but not a destination. We camped at Singing Hills RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

OBX Campground, Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Management no where to be seen. Large dogs running loose and attacking smaller dogs. Very dusty. 1/2 mile of dirt road to get to the park, and all dirt or gravel interior roads and sites. Long term residents, particularly, drive too fast, endangering campers and children, as well as creating clouds of dust. Website would imply that this is a resort. Far from it. Look elsewhere on the OBX. We camped at OBX Campground in a Motorhome.

Greensboro KOA, Greensboro, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Small, very tight park. Roads are narrow and the sites are "awning close". There is not a level site in the entire park. We moved our class A to an alternate site because our front tires were 7" off the ground! At our new site they are only 2" off the ground. We were escorted to our site, and when the staff member noticed that the sewer connection was uphill and 30 feet away, he offered to sell us more sewer hose at "half price"!

Just stayed here one night, and that was enough. I-40 is 100 yards away. This is the stereotypical KOA that we all fear. We camped at Greensboro KOA in a Motorhome.

Rutledge Lake RV Park, Fletcher, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Clean park from what we could see, but small and with many very close spaces. Only a few suitable for a class A motorhome, and even then the way into the site and the way out is very, very tight due to other vehicles being parked on or partially on the road. The electricity in site 46 is abominable. We paid for 50 amp service, but our Energy Management System said that one leg was only 106 volts, and kept shutting the coach down. This played hob with the A/C units, and wiped out the main circuit board in the onboard washing machine! We finally switched to 30 amp, and limped along, turning appliances on or off so as not to trip the breaker. We talked to a gentleman who comes here every summer to escape Florida, and he said that he had the same issue with power last year in this site. Management is adding new sites but not maintaining the sites already in service. Poor way to run a business! We will never return!

P.S. Wifi was advertised but non-existent. Never did find it, even at the office. We camped at Rutledge Lake RV Park in a Motorhome.
