Highbanks Marina & Campresort, Debary, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great little campground along the beautiful shores of the St Johns River. The site was spacious enough for us, level, and free of an obstacles, power was clean and water was good. The park just recently renovated their bath houses and bathrooms, and they are in excellent shape! There is a very good restaurant/bar on site, great food and atmosphere. This campground does have full time residents, but they're located in the back of the park and all the we encountered were very nice. We will be coming back to this campground in the future! We camped at Highbanks Marina & Campresort in a Travel Trailer.

Kennedy Space Center - KARS Park (Military FamCamp), Kennedy Space Center, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

If you are retired military or retired civil service/NASA you can use this park. The location is great as it sits right along the Banana River on the south border of the No Motor Zone. Fishing from the shore of this park is great, there is a very nice boat ramp that can accommodate boats up to 33'. However, some of the maintenance has fallen by the wayside over the years. Sometimes power won't work at a site, or the hose bibs are seized up, or the dump station is backed up. With that being said, anytime there is an issue, the maintenance guys are there to solve the problem immediately. We camped at Kennedy Space Center - KARS Park (Military FamCamp) in a Travel Trailer.

Boyd's Key West Campground, Key West, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $136.00
Overall Rating:

Boyd's Campground is simply great! We came down for a week in early April and enjoyed every minute of it. In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we extended our stay by an additional day. The only point of disappointment was we had an excellent site for the 6 nights we were there, but we were unable to stay in that site for the additional night that we stayed, but that is to be understood. We moved down two sites and were just fine. We actually appreciated the fact that the office didn't move the next camper coming into our spot as they had requested and paid for it, good job by the front office. As far as the campground goes, sure it is tight in some spots but this is the Keys, and space is a premium, but the maintenance guys will come out and direct traffic and help you get in. We saw several large pushers there get in and out with no incident. The local wildlife we found enjoyable, even the roosters starting early in the morning! Power was clean, water pressure was great and the water at our site had no smell to it, cable TV was plentiful, and the wifi next to the boat ramp at our site was fast and free. We would recommend going either to the point where the tent sites are or over to the beach to watch a sunrise, its unforgettable. We brought bikes and it took us about 25 minutes to ride into downtown or to the Historic Seaport, and we actually left the bikes unlocked at our site overnight. There was no feeling of inadequate security at the campground throughout our stay. I highly recommend this campground if you want to stay near Key West! We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Hogfish Bar & Grill just down the street is amazing! Grab the hogfish sandwich and start with the tuna nachos. Ask the front desk for a 10% discount card.

Tropical Palms Resort and Campground, Kissimmee, Florida

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $67.00
Overall Rating:

Booked a last minute site with some friends for the Independence Day weekend, and to our surprise, there were sites available. The gentlemen who helped us on the phone was very courteous and did his best to locate us as close as possible to our friends. When we arrived check-in was quick and smooth, however when we arrived at our site it was flooded from the previous evening's showers. We went back to the front office and they gave us several other sites to choose from, then remembering that we were traveling with another group, they told us that they did have a site available right next to the rest of our party, and they put us there! I honestly couldn't ask for better service from a campground staff! The campground itself is clean, fairly well maintained, and the campers in it are generally courteous towards each other. One member in our party did have issues with the 30 amp breaker tripping, but as I have noticed with other campgrounds, this is a common problem. They went and purchased a 50 amp adapter and all was well after that. Pool can get overcrowded, but that is expected during a holiday weekend in the middle of a very hot Florida summer. I will gladly camp here again! We camped at Tropical Palms Resort and Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Map out your path to your site using a service like Google Earth as this campground is tight. We navigated with a relatively small set up (3/4 ton truck with a 26' TT) and it was still tight.

Long Point Park Campground (Brevard County Park), Melbourne Beach, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This campground has probably the best location possible for enjoying all natural aspects of Florida. You have immediate and close access to the southern Indian River Lagoon, nature trails on Scout Island across a neat wooden bridge over the creek, a sleepy beach just down the road at Sebastian Inlet, and if you bring watercraft, you can navigate deep into the natural Florida back country up the St Sebastian River on the west bank of the Indian River. Waterfront sites are what make this place so great, what's better than pulling your boat up to your site every afternoon? Facilities are average, which is expected at a county park, but as I said before, the location MORE than makes up for that. Stop reading and get on down to Long Point with your significant other and family and enjoy the outdoors! We camped at Long Point Park Campground (Brevard County Park) in a Travel Trailer.

Jetty Park Campground, Cape Canaveral, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

We live just about 10 minutes away from Jetty Park but love to go here as often as we can. The staff is very accommodating and the campground itself is beautiful. All sites are very easy to back in and set up, all have power and 30 amps, and most have sewer as well. The beach speaks for itself, and the fishing pier is a great place to go and either fish, or watch the cruise ships go by. If you can plan your trip around a rocket launch I highly recommend going to Jetty Park to watch it! We camped at Jetty Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Chokoloskee Island Park Campground, Chokoloskee Island, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

If you want to travel back in time and get away from the hectic "tourist-y" Florida then make the drive down to Chokoloskee. I go down to Chokoloskee Island Park and Marina 3-5 times a year to camp and fish for 4-5 days. This is the perfect place to get away from it all and connect with nature, whether you're an avid fisherman, bird watcher, or it's just your curosity that brings you down to the Everglades, I highly recommend staying here! The owners and manager make you feel right at home, other residents will welcome you with open arms and you will leave there with a few more friends. The campground gets busy from late December to late April, so call early to make a reservation. Sites are very close to each other, so anything bigger than 30 feet will be tough to park and set up. All sites have sewer hook up, good 30A power, and clean water. All campsite surfaces are a mix of hard shell/gravel, grass, and sand, with a couple of the end sites uneven, so bring leveling blocks. Collier County Sheriff's Deputies regularly patrol the park, which is an added sense of security. Make sure to watch the sunset from either the dock or the chickee there, it's second to none! We camped at Chokoloskee Island Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, Lake Buena Vista, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2016 - $84.00
Overall Rating:

What a wonderful experience! Disney is known for always going above and beyond in everything they do, and that holds true with Fort Wilderness. This campground is by far THE BEST I have ever stayed at, the staff is wonderful, the campground layout is awesome, and there are so many activities that I could return for years to come and still not experience everything. The campsites are very clean and very big! Plenty of parking either at your site or in the overflow parking. I highly recommend renting a golf cart while you are there if you don't own one, it will make your experience that much better! Truly an awesome campground that I will be returning to again and again! We camped at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in a Travel Trailer.
