Bear Creek Lake Park, Indian Paintbrush Campground, Lakewood, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Our site was very spacious and level. The road is paved and well maintained. It is an easy ride into Denver. 2600 acres just outside a big city -- great combination. The down side is if you have dogs, which we do. There isn't really any grass; it is brush, which is cut back for the sites. My dogs didn't like walking on it. There is also some foxtail around, which can be dangerous for a dog if it gets in its eye or nose, so you have to be careful. Still, it's a terrific value and we would definitely return. We camped at Bear Creek Lake Park, Indian Paintbrush Campground in a Motorhome.

Four Seasons RV Resort, Salida, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We had a level site right on the Arkansas River. It had a very nice patio. The owners were very helpful. However, the road needs regrading. and the entrance and exit are quite difficult for a big rig - curved and steep. The dog areas are gravel and small. Friends of ours stayed in one of the cabins, which was clean and stocked, but with inadequate air conditioning. We probably would not stay here again. We camped at Four Seasons RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park, West Memphis, Arkansas

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This is a lovely campground right on the Mississippi river. The sites on the river are set so you don't really see other sites even though they're nearby. It is very well maintained even with the acres of grass. The drainage is good, in case it rains. Potholes seem to be filled as soon as they appear. The staff is efficient and very pleasant. The dog walking area is vast. The only downside was that our site, which was at the far end, had no wifi. Our Verizon cell did work though. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

Yellowhammer RV Sales and Campground, Clanton, Alabama

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We reserved a spot in advance online but weren't assigned a specific location. When we arrived, the office was closed and there was no information left for us. There was one person in a golf cart who knew nothing about our reservation and said to just pick a spot. So we drove around only to discover there was no way to loop around with a rig our size towing. We had to leave the campground to find a way to turnaround and try again. Once settled, I took our dogs for a walk on the paved campground road, where one of them was bitten by a snake which required a visit to the Animal ER 50 miles away. Clearly we won't be returning to this campground. We camped at Yellowhammer RV Sales and Campground in a Motorhome.

The Pines RV Campground, Tifton, Georgia

This is a very clean small campground. It appears to be mostly longer term campers, but well kept and pleasant. It's convenient to I75, so it's a good overnight stop. We camped at The Pines RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Casey Jones RV Park, Lake City, Florida

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great overnight stop. It is right off I75 but wasn't noisy. It has large, easy to get into, pull throughs on nicely kept, level grass. The garbage cans are conveniently located. The owners are very nice. The dog walking is good. It is reasonably priced. We would definitely return. We camped at Casey Jones RV Park in a Motorhome.

Yogi Bear Jellystone Park, Bremen, Georgia

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

We decided to stay here for an overnight after cancelling our reservation at a campground in Anniston because of their restrictive dog walking policy. Jellystone was a good decision. It is an easy drive from the highway and a quiet well maintained park (we were there during the week). Its unusual design of 2 concentric circles with grass and woods around the perimeter makes for very nice dog walking. We had some problems getting level in our narrow pull through spot but did succeed after a few tries. I wouldn't try this in a motorhome any bigger than our 38 footer though. We camped at Yogi Bear Jellystone Park in a Motorhome.

Memphis KOA , Marion, Arkansas

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice campground. There is lots of well kept grass, mature trees, and sizeable level sites. It is an easy drive to downtown Memphis. The office staff was very nice and helpful. The only downside is the truck noise from the close highway and the train whistles from the nearby tracks. We kept the air-conditioners on at night so they didn't impact our sleep. We would definitely return here. We camped at Memphis KOA in a Motorhome.

The Landing Point RV Park, Cape Girardeau, Missouri

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

The office was closed when we arrived at 4 PM, but our site was clearly noted on a calendar taped to the door, along with a site map. We had a huge level pull through spot. Most of the campground seems to be dedicated to full timers, but it was well kept and very quiet (except for somebody walking their barking dogs at 5:45 AM). There was lots of grass and a stream with a few steep and slippery paths down. And, finally, a campground with a dog exercise pen that's actually big enough to exercise a dog! Verizon cell service was excellent. We would return. We camped at The Landing Point RV Park in a Motorhome.

The Campus RV Park, Independence, Missouri

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We had one of four pull-through spots. The spots were tightly packed in and had a steep incline just beyond the pad itself. The car had to be unhooked and parked in front of the rv. The whole campground seemed an odd hodgepodge of sites, some more generous, some facing in weird directions, some clearly in long term storage. There was lots of grass which could use a good mowing. There are 2 sets of train tracks closeby, but the train whistles weren't as loud as some we've encountered. The location is close to downtown and an easy drive to KC. Be sure to follow the directions on the campground website(the truck route) instead of the GPS. We camped at The Campus RV Park in a Motorhome.

WaKeeney KOA, WaKeeney, Kansas

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice quiet little park with level spots big enough so you can leave your car hooked up, if it's just an overnight. There is lots of grass for excellent dog walking and a tidy, well-maintained dog exercise area. The owner was very pleasant. They offer ice cream floats and parfaits in the evening, which we didn't get to try because of a thunderstorm. We camped at WaKeeney KOA in a Motorhome.

Tiger Run RV Resort, Breckenridge, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very pretty, well-kept park. We just stayed here overnight so we didn't take advantage of the extra amenities. It seems to have a lot more chalets than it does RV sites. Our site was level, nicely situated, and would be very pleasant to sit outside (had it not been raining). However, there was not enough space to leave the car hooked up. There is a small dog enclosure with grass and a small dog walking loop. There is access to a narrow trail, but we didn't have an opportunity to try it. We would stay here again. We camped at Tiger Run RV Resort in a Motorhome.

OK RV Park & Canyonlands Stables, Moab, Utah

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very basic campground which is in a particularly windy area. There is a strip of grass between sites but most of the park is gravel. Some of the sites on one side of the park have a view of the cliffs. Ours was towards the entrance of the campground where the heavy equipment is stored and there are several unattractive buildings. For a small campground, there is a lot of traffic. It is a tough place to walk dogs, not only because there is very little grass but there is also an abundance of sharp burrs and red ants. The owners try to keep the offending shrubs cut, but once the stickers are on the ground they stay there. One of the dumpsters was overflowing. The park is quiet and set back from the main road and very convenient for getting to Arches and Moab town. The office staff is very nice. We camped at OK RV Park & Canyonlands Stables in a Motorhome.

Salt Lake City KOA, Salt Lake City, Utah

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

This park would have had a higher rating if it didn't have trains blowing their whistles as they drove past all night. No sleep for us. We also had to detach our car because the spot was only long enough for the RV (the car is parked next to it). On the positive side, it is conveniently located and the spots were level and shaded with a little grass around each one. The staff was very nice and helpful. It has a great dog walking trail and off leash area just outside a gate on the property (you have to ask the office for the code to get in). But we would most assuredly not stay here again. We camped at Salt Lake City KOA in a Motorhome.

New Frontier RV Park, Winnemucca, Nevada

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

This was an overnight stop for us. It is right off I-80 but we didn't hear highway noise. The spots were large, level, and paved, as were the interior roads. There are a lot of cabins that look like barracks (way more than RV spots) but hardly anyone was in them. We camped at New Frontier RV Park in a Motorhome.
