Santa Fe Skies RV Park, Santa Fe, New Mexico

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This is a combination RV park / sculpture garden - very Santa Fe. The spots are separated by wild flowers, which gives some attractive privacy, but the sites are relatively small and it is dusty. There is a nice sized dog run, which actually is big enough for the dogs to run. There is also a walking trail around the campground with pretty views. The back-in spots around the periphery share those views. We had a somewhat larger pull-thru spot next to the office, but it was very busy. Overall a pleasant, convenient place to stay. We would return. We camped at Santa Fe Skies RV Park in a Motorhome.

Route 66 RV Resort, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice campground. The spots are huge, far apart and level. There are lots of amenities. There are 2 nice enclosed dog runs. The spots in the middle are back in with grass. The pull-thrus have gravel. The campground is completely surrounded by a fence and has lots of pretty dog walking. There aren't any trees or shade, the only negative of note. We didn't get to the attached casino. We would definitely return. We camped at Route 66 RV Resort in a Motorhome.

J & H RV Park (55 + Park), Flagstaff, Arizona

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This is a decent small campground with a lot of seasonal campers. The sites are adequately sized and level. There are a few sitting areas with shade and water features, all of which have large "No Pets" signs. The dog run is small with alternating dirt and tufts of grass. Although they advertise that they have cable and wifi, they have no cable at all and essentially no wifi. The Verizon cell service is also terrible, although it is fine a few miles down the road. We will certainly not be returning. We camped at J & H RV Park (55 + Park) in a Motorhome.

LVM Resort, Las Vegas, Nevada

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $72.00
Overall Rating:

This is a lovely campground with lots of amenities. The staff was extremely helpful. We were traveling with dogs and the temperature was over 100, so we wanted to change to a grassy spot (which was not what we had reserved). The staff gave us exactly what we needed -- not only grassy but spacious and private too. The wifi worked well, it was quiet, and the grounds were very attractive and well-maintained. My only gripe is that the dog run was not fenced. It was big and grassy but outside the gate with cars regularly driving by. Even so, we would definitely stay here again. We camped at LVM Resort in a Motorhome.

WillowWind RV Park, Hurricane, Utah

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This seems to be a park primarily for seasonal or longer term campers. We opted to stay in a satellite-friendly site (no shade), so we could be near the dog walking area. The site was level and nicely spaced. The dog walking area was 8 - 10 foot wide elevated packed dirt with overgrown trees, no enclosure, and a lower border of rocks. There is also an enclosed area behind the office, long and narrow with rock footing. The dog washing station was barely large enough for my small corgi. There are actually 3 entrances to the park, two for vehicles and one behind one of the sites where people can (and do) walk in off the street. None of the sites had picnic tables; this was a first for us. The park is well-kept, the wifi worked, and we had good Verizon service. We camped at WillowWind RV Park in a Motorhome.

Cannonville / Bryce Valley KOA, Cannonville, Utah

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in the lower section of the park to be near the dog run. (We shouldn't have bothered. Although it was enclosed, it was tiny and packed dirt. ) The lower sites are separated by grass. The sites and the interior roads are rocks (which makes for tiring dog walking). The upper sites were smaller but had views of the red cliffs. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. They offer a pancake breakfast in the mornings and ice cream sundaes on Saturday night. And, importantly, it is close to Bryce. We camped at Cannonville / Bryce Valley KOA in a Motorhome.

Thousand Lakes RV Park, Torrey, Utah

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice park. The sites are level and adequately spaced. It is carefully maintained. Although there is no enclosed dog run, there are several large grassy areas . I would have given it a higher rating if the wifi was even barely usable (or if we had any reliable Verizon cell service). We camped at Thousand Lakes RV Park in a Motorhome.

Blue Mountain RV Park, Blanding, Utah

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a well located, very nice, basic campground. The upper spots have grass, while the lower ones are all gravel. The upper spot pull thrus are paired, so that you are on top of your neighbor, yet you have your own grassy area on the other side and it still feels private. The owners keep the campground in terrific condition, well graded, clean, and landscaped. It has very good dog walking areas. Although it is right on UT 191, there was minimal truck noise. The owner is very helpful, providing us with recommendations and maps. We stayed an extra night and would definitely return. We camped at Blue Mountain RV Park in a Motorhome.

Portal RV Resort and Campground, Moab, Utah

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in the resort half of the campground in a very nice site. It was wide enough that we could park our car next to the RV, as though we had 2 spots. There were plantings and a swing. The park is very dog friendly -- 2 nice sized runs and a dog pond. It has views of the red cliffs -- very pretty, especially at sunset. The laundry room was clean and had quite a few machines, although the dryer took forever. The one problem was the smell of horse manure in the evening. I don't know if that's actually what it was because the only 2 horses we saw were a large field away and contained, but there was an odor. Nevertheless, we would definitely stay here again. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section), Fruita, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

We really liked this campground. The spots are very private and spacious. There is a paved path next to the Colorado River where I rarely saw other people (or dogs). There is a nice trail around the lake. We had a problem with our RV on the day we were leaving and the staff was very helpful. My only complaints were that the grass around our camp site and other areas around the park really needed mowing and that there was a lot of goose poop near the water. Even so, we would definitely return. Actually, we didn't really want to leave. We camped at James M. Robb-Colorado River State Park (Fruita Section) in a Motorhome.

St. Vrain State Park, Longmont, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in the full hookup section right on one of the ponds, which gave us beautiful sunset views. There was a shelter over the picnic table which provided shade and wind protection, a very nice feature. The site was an easy level pull-thru. There are cleared trails around every pond, many of which interconnect, providing very convenient dog walking. Both Denver and Boulder are under an hour drives. There is an additional day use fee of $6/day plus a $10 reservation fee but it is still a very good value. We really enjoyed our stay here. We camped at St. Vrain State Park in a Motorhome.

Bear Creek Lake Park, Indian Paintbrush Campground, Lakewood, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Our site was very spacious and level. The road is paved and well maintained. It is an easy ride into Denver. 2600 acres just outside a big city -- great combination. The down side is if you have dogs, which we do. There isn't really any grass; it is brush, which is cut back for the sites. My dogs didn't like walking on it. There is also some foxtail around, which can be dangerous for a dog if it gets in its eye or nose, so you have to be careful. Still, it's a terrific value and we would definitely return. We camped at Bear Creek Lake Park, Indian Paintbrush Campground in a Motorhome.

Four Seasons RV Resort, Salida, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We had a level site right on the Arkansas River. It had a very nice patio. The owners were very helpful. However, the road needs regrading. and the entrance and exit are quite difficult for a big rig - curved and steep. The dog areas are gravel and small. Friends of ours stayed in one of the cabins, which was clean and stocked, but with inadequate air conditioning. We probably would not stay here again. We camped at Four Seasons RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park, West Memphis, Arkansas

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This is a lovely campground right on the Mississippi river. The sites on the river are set so you don't really see other sites even though they're nearby. It is very well maintained even with the acres of grass. The drainage is good, in case it rains. Potholes seem to be filled as soon as they appear. The staff is efficient and very pleasant. The dog walking area is vast. The only downside was that our site, which was at the far end, had no wifi. Our Verizon cell did work though. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

Yellowhammer RV Sales and Campground, Clanton, Alabama

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We reserved a spot in advance online but weren't assigned a specific location. When we arrived, the office was closed and there was no information left for us. There was one person in a golf cart who knew nothing about our reservation and said to just pick a spot. So we drove around only to discover there was no way to loop around with a rig our size towing. We had to leave the campground to find a way to turnaround and try again. Once settled, I took our dogs for a walk on the paved campground road, where one of them was bitten by a snake which required a visit to the Animal ER 50 miles away. Clearly we won't be returning to this campground. We camped at Yellowhammer RV Sales and Campground in a Motorhome.
