Shipshewana Campground - South Park, Shipshewana, Indiana

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed in our Class A, 45' Entegra. Roads are easy to navigate & sites are plenty long for big rigs and tow vehicles. Pavilions for group. Restrooms clean, staff friendly, full hook ups, 30 and 50amp sites plus tent sites. Would have rated higher if roads were paved and/or sites were paved. Rain keeps the dust down. Most sites have 'some' shade, but few sites have any obstruction to satellite. Verizon pretty good. Great park to see the area, flea market, Amish attractions and visit the RV manufacturers. Would stay here again. We camped at Shipshewana Campground - South Park in a Motorhome.

Sparrow Pond Family Campground, Waterford, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Second time to visit Sparrow Pond in our 45', Class A motorhome w/tow. Quiet, gated park. We camped in Joey Circle which has no satellite obstructions. Site is crushed road pavement which is not that smooth, but other sites have smoother gravel. Full hook ups, picnic table. Park has a large pool, game room, fishing pond, large pavilions & activities. 6miles to Hwy 90. About 7-8 miles to Walmart, groceries, restaurants, etc. Roads are easy to navigate in this front area. We camped at Sparrow Pond Family Campground in a Motorhome.

My Brother's Place Campground, Houlton, Maine

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Our second time to this park, before going into Canada, and returning from Canada after 1 month. Park-like setting, playground, clean camp restrooms.Large pull thrus with plenty of room for big rigs (45') and tow vehicles, full hook ups, picnic tables and fire rings. We would return when in the area. Paved roads, grass sites, mostly level, no dust! Highway 1 noise can be heard if you are in a tent or a light camper. The highway is generally quiet during the night. Ask owners for restaurant recommendations. We camped at My Brother's Place Campground in a Motorhome.

Bras D'Or Lakes Campground, Baddeck, Nova Scotia

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We used Bras D'Or Lakes as a base for 1 week to explore the Cape Breton area & Cabot Trail. Our Class A, 45' motorhome fit on the back-in site with just enough room to park our tow in front. Sites are close together if park is crowded. Our site needed re-grading and fresh gravel. Roads are dirt, so dust can be annoying if no recent rain. Campground is convenient to TransCanada highway & start of the Cabot Trail. Baddeck has several restaurants, coffee shops, some shopping, pretty wharf area, and 1 Co-op grocery. Portions of the Restrooms were under construction, but the ones open were clean. Lake frontage at the rear of the campground is very nice, but few campsites actually have a view of the lake. Utilities are at the back of the site, so long cords may be necessary. Staff friendly. After 2 years of full time travel, we had our first theft here during the day. Our awning pull rod was stolen while we were away from camp. Spotty wifi. No DirecTV satellite. Cabot Trail was somewhat disappointing, especially riding a Harley. Roads were in terrible condition in August in many sections. Lots of rough sections, patching, & the mountain drive near Pleasant Bay was particularly bad with long sections unpaved with gravel only. The beauty of Cabot Trail is on the western side from Margaree Harbour to Pleasant Bay. We camped at Bras D'Or Lakes Campground in a Motorhome.

Elm River RV Park, Glenholme, Nova Scotia

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

This campground can handle big rigs. Our 45' motorhome just fit into our grass site & we parked our tow across the gravel street. Mostly dirt/gravel roads with grass/gravel mix for sites. Can cause some dust without recent rain. Mostly 30amp service in the park, but there are some 50amp. Our 50amp was fine for the first part of the week, however the last 3-4 days it kept losing power & flipping the breaker. Restroom/Laundry clean but dated. Our satellite picked up DirecTV, but heard that DISH would not pick up due to low satellite direction. Park is gated at night after 11pm. Several RV caravans come through the park, so make reservations accordingly. MassMarket (a very nice deli/market), Petro Gas, and a diner are within 1 mile. Truro is about 15 min away. No wifi, must go to wifi hotspot at Playground, or the office. Easy on/off TransCanada 2. We camped at Elm River RV Park in a Motorhome.

The Villages RV Park at Turning Stone, Verona, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Visited in our 2018 Class A, 45' motorhome. Office staff friendly & responsive. Bath houses clean. Some laundry machines out of order, $1.50wash, $1.00dry. Big rig sites paved (that's great) & enough pull thru space to park tow. Our FHUs were good. Navigating is easy & turns are good, BUT there are several spots where tree limbs need trimming (roads, turns, sites) Our 12'8" height brushed several limbs. There are many shady sites where satellite would be impossible. Ask the staff if that is important to you. Would stay at this park again. If you only need a night or 2 off the road, go to the "High Roller Truck Parking" lot where parking is FREE, there are electric hook ups, and a shuttle to the Casino. Sav-On Gas (next door) has excellent gas & diesel prices. We camped at The Villages RV Park at Turning Stone in a Motorhome.

Hickory Hill Family Camping Resort, Bath, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $71.00
Overall Rating:

Very good location for visiting the Finger Lakes, wineries, parks, lakes, etc. Park is geared for families & children with lots of activities/ amenities. We visited in a Class A, 45' motorhome. Some sites have shade, some are totally open. Big rig area has pull thrus, picnic table, full hook ups, fire ring. Some have a paver or concrete patio also. Mostly dirt/gravel roads which creates some dust. Our site was a gravel/grass mix. Roads to 'big rig' area navigate well & turns are fairly easy. Not a 5 star for us since we don't travel with children & the price is fairly high. We camped at Hickory Hill Family Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Bath has all the necessities. Nearest Walmart is in Corning, about 18 miles from the campground. Travel to the campground on Route 13 from downtown Bath to the entrance currently has several tree limbs that are low. RVs 12'8" or higher will brush these branches. Chat A While diner in downtown is a nice stop for breakfast or lunch.

Gettysburg Battlefield Resort (Travel Resorts of America), Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed as part of a Promo for membership. Check in was pleasant & quick. We unhitched from our 45' motorhome to move thru the park to our site. Roads are a mix of narrow & wide streets & turns, but manageable. Some paved roads & gravel sites. Some sites are shady, some completely open. We had a camp volunteer lead us the best way to the site. Our pull thru was plenty long enough for our rig & parking our F150 tow vehicle. Wifi was pretty bad & kept popping me off, so I used my Verizon set up without problems. We had partial shade that blocked satellite reception, but sometimes shade is a nice tradeoff. Our site had elec & water only, no sewer. Fire ring & picnic table at each site. There is a "honey" truck that is available in the campground if needed. Pool, kids activities, fishing pond are available in the resort. On weekends there is a cannon firing reenactment. The park is located on the edge of the battlefield, a few min from downtown Gettysburg & the Visitors Center. Quiet at night, no trains or highway noise. There are a few areas where campers appear long term & their sites are cluttered. Gave site #200 three stars because no sewer available. The site was pretty level and in fair condition as far as the gravel. We camped at Gettysburg Battlefield Resort (Travel Resorts of America) in a Motorhome.

Drummer Boy Camping Resort, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $74.00
Overall Rating:

As others have said, this is a large park. We camped during Fathers Day weekend & it was crowded. There is a large section for "seasonal" campers who leave their RV at the campground for the year & visit it intermittently. We were assigned a large space (#410) recently vacated by a "seasonal" camper. This back in site has level gravel, easy access to hook ups, shady on one side, more than enough space for our Class A, 45' motorhome & tow vehicle. Note: It backs up to the interstate, so noise is constant. Dust on the roads from vehicles & golf carts passing by was annoying. There are a couple of tight turns to get to this area of the campground. We unhitched at the office & drove to the site to preview our route & turns to get to this site. We also found our route out prior to moving our RV out of the campground. Again, there is a variety of tight turns, wide turns, & narrow roads to leave the park. For the rate we paid, we will probably not return. These park owners need to visit a Florida "resort" to understand what the term "resort" means. Its not just about having a pool & playground. Our site was pretty clean, probably because of the recent change from seasonal. However we walked by several sites that were full of weeds & generally not manicured to the level you would call "resort". Several RVs required leveling blocks for them to be close to level. We camped at Drummer Boy Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC), College Park, Maryland

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $66.00
Overall Rating:

Lots of traffic in the DC area. Cherry Hill Road from Baltimore Ave is narrow & rough, so take your time. We camped for 1 week in a Class A, 45' motorhome. Our original assigned site was too short for our 45', so a park employee helped us find another back in site that would fit. Our site was neat & adequate for our size, however not enough room to park our Ford pick up & be safely clear of the road. Used the nearby bathhouse parking spaces, no big deal. Clean bathrooms! Staff is friendly & helpful. Great location to see the DC sights, Annapolis, Arlington, etc. We used the Metro station located about 5 miles from the park at $5.20 per day for parking even tho there is a bus from the park entrance to this station (it takes 30 min). You can drive faster. Wifi was iffy, kept popping us off even tho we could see the booster antennae. Could hear the hwy noise when outside, but it never bothered us inside the RV. We camped at Cherry Hill Park (Washington DC) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Stayed 2 nights during Memorial weekend in our Class A, 45' motorhome with tow in a pull through site. Friendly staff, convenient on/off highway, lots of activities for kids & the pancake breakfast is nice. Pool under construction. Park was crowded as expected & bathhouses should have been cleaned daily. Gravel was almost non-existent on our site which was mostly dirt. Other sites had newer compacted gravel. We unhitched at check in to make maneuvering thru the park easier & had no problem. Shade trees are nice, but we were unable to use satellite. Other hook ups were fine. Easy walk to a craft brewery which had live music during the weekend. We camped at Americamps RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Sycamore Lodge, Jackson Springs, North Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

We accepted an offer to visit this property at the Atlanta RV Show. We took the tour for membership & enjoyed learning more about the programs offered. Our guide was professional & knowledgeable. All staff was very friendly and helpful. Our site L19 was very nice, wonderful landscaping, partial lake view, full hook ups, satellite no problem, all gravel with plenty of room for our Class A, 45 foot motorhome, tow parking across the street. Lovely landscape in this loop, however roads to this site are tight for a 45'. Must unhitch. No permanent park models or live-in trailers at this park. This campground is a bit isolated in the forest, certainly QUIET in the evenings. 16-17 miles to Aberdeen, shopping, restaurants, Walmart, Lowe's, etc. Plenty of activity for kids, walking paths, pool, camp sponsored activities. There is a general store on site too. We attended the pancake breakfast & it was done nicely! Thanks. The reason this is not a 'perfect' score is the roads & sites are all gravel creating lots of dust & dirt. We were told the owners are working on this for the future, maybe 2019? It would be very nice to have the main travel roads paved at a minimum. Another plus would be to smooth out and extend the turning radiuses. Progress is being made to upgrade the property, particularly ongoing construction to get full hook ups to more sites. Recommend unhitching a tow except for the small number of pull thru sites. Verify hook ups, not all sites are equal. Site L10 has a fabulous lake side view! We camped at Sycamore Lodge in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Big rig friendly for our Class A 45' motorhome & tow. Easy to navigate, full hook ups, some pull thru & some back in sites. All open, no shade, pretty level sites, satellite no problem. Easy on/off the interstate. Friendly staff, pavilions for rally groups. East to get to Blue Ridge parkway and good motorcycle riding in the area. Several discounts are accepted. Restrooms/laundry room located at the office. We had to report a barking dog next door during our stay & the staff handled it immediately. The only reason not a perfect score is all roads & sites are gravel creating lots of dust. Would be GREAT if at least the roads were paved! Will return if in the area. Unicoi Springs Camp Resort, Helen, Georgia

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

We visited in our 45' Class A, Entegra motorhome. Staff is friendly, but should have warned about LOW clearance entrance to the campground, tight turns, narrow roads, & narrow campsites. Built years ago when RVs did not have slide outs. Some campsites are being updated. We cleared the 13'3" clearance, but be aware! We unhitched & traveled the camp to our site in our tow. We had to plan how to make turns & find the right streets. Streets were not named, but appear on the site map. Hook ups fine. Gated entry. Wifi pretty good from our site. Inviting clubhouse and pool area. These are probably busy in summer, but with temps in the 30s, the campground was pretty quiet. 10min to Helen. Stone Mountain Park Campground, Stone Mountain, Georgia

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in our 45' motorhome for several nights. Near freezing cold weather really slowed things down at the park. Things were pretty quiet. Our 30-RV group used the open pavilion for gatherings and meals. There is a fireplace in the pavilion so that helps keep some warmth in the building. Staff was friendly and responsive to any requests. Our back-in site was fairly level, gravel with picnic table and grill. However, due to rain the entire day prior to our arrival the utility hookup area was completely covered in water. We alerted the staff & they brought a load of base gravel to try to mitigate the standing water. Many of the sites need to have the gravel re-leveled & edged. Several paved roads need asphalt patching as there are broken off/cracked areas. Overall a good place to stay. Recommend you walk your site first before bringing RV to the space. Note: Left Lane at Entrance gate to park is EXTREMELY tight for large RVs. Approach slowly! Swing a wide right into the Campground as there is a stone monument divider at the entrance. Inside campground, the roads can have tight turns. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.
