Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park, West Memphis, Arkansas

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We used Tom Sawyer's as a overnight stay to and from a trip to the Smoky Mountains from Oklahoma. On our way east, we arrived well after dark. Once we got to the exit off I-40 it was very easy to find with signs and by following the directions from the website. After hours check-in was easy and the map to our site was well marked and we had no trouble at all. We left early in the morning, but from what we could tell, we wanted to stop on the way home to check it out. On our return trip, it was only about 2.5 weeks after they had been underwater. There were still some campsites not ready, but the best ones (next to the Mississippi) were fantastic. Had some nice shade and the view was awesome. They have 2 main camping areas - the motorhomes face the river so the view is out the windshield and the 5 wheels have their rear toward the river for the view out what most have as their living room. The road in looks a little sketchy and the camp is not a "resort". However, the views, shade, barges, were great. It was very peaceful and quiet. In the motorhome areas the sites are a mix of concrete pads and gravel pads. The concrete pads were very level. Could not tell if cable was at the park and not yet re-installed or not. Over the air TV was available with a variety of channels. WiFi was available, but too spotty to be useful at our site. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

Gatlinburg East/Smoky Mountain KOA (formerly Smoky Mountain Premier RV, Cosby, Tennessee

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $66.00
Overall Rating:

We spent 7 nights at Smoky Mountain Premier RV (Gatlinburg East KOA). The campground was only about 25% full as we stayed before they have got into the summer busy season. The grounds are well maintained. Although we did not use the bathrooms, they were fantastic. The laundry room was also great. The owner would stop by to chat from time to time while he was constantly working on the campground. He helped us with a minor mishap getting our vehicle off of our tow dolly. The staff was all very friendly. When you purchased firewood, they delivered it regardless of how close or far your site was. We were in a pull through site that was very large. As we walked around the park, except for the sites that were physically too short for our coach, we would stay in almost all of them. The park is about 15-20 minutes to Gatlinburg. The drive is a very nice one. The Wi-Fi and cable were both great. We were close to the office, so do not know how it performed at the back of the park. All the sites had at least part shade. In just a few years as the tree crowns start to expand, it will be an extremely shady park. Although we did not use it the pool and playground were both very nice. We would definitely stay there again. We camped at Gatlinburg East/Smoky Mountain KOA (formerly Smoky Mountain Premier RV in a Motorhome.

Lake Murray State Park / Elephant Rock, Ardmore, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

campground was clean and well kept. Elephant Rock is closed at night. Only a fraction of the campsites are reservable. As we walked the campground, almost every site looked good. The concrete pads were very large - much wider than most. We camped at Lake Murray State Park / Elephant Rock in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

The campground is very well maintained. Almost all sites are partly or mostly shaded. The roads and parking pads are asphalt. Picnic tables and fire rings in a pea gravel area adjacent to parking pad. Some sites have awesome views. We camped at Mueller State Park in a Motorhome.

Manor RV Park, Estes Park, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Staff were helpful and friendly. We stayed in a back in site on the river. It was very nice. The interior sites looked to be a little cramped for motorhomes and large 5th wheels. We camped at Manor RV Park in a Motorhome.

Shady Grove Campground, Seibert, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Campground was perfect for a stop over point on the way to the Rocky Mountains. It was clean and quiet with a fair amount of shade for a good part of the park. The listing shows no cable TV, but they did have antenna based TV with about 10 channels. We camped at Shady Grove Campground in a Motorhome.

Beautiful campground. The park is very active, but the campground is separated and was reasonably quiet. Plenty of hiking/walking opportunities. We camped at Natural Falls State Park in a Motorhome.
