Carrabelle Beach RV Resort, Carrabelle, Florida

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

A beautiful rv park in all ways: Landscaping, great concrete sites, picnic table, terrific pool with canopied areas with comfy seating, showers and restrooms very nice and accessible from all sites. Very nice sand beach just across the street, covered picnic areas there also. Easily the nicest and best rv facility in this stretch (Carrabelle to Apalachicola area). We camped at Carrabelle Beach RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Just be aware that Carrabelle doesn't have a big choice of restaurants close by ---PLEASE NOTE: We were scheduled for a week but the park closed and we had to leave because of Hurricane Hermine. Only negative was the staff was confused as to status but we had to leave anyway.

If you go, stay there, eat at Red Pirate in Eastpoint and definitely Blue Parrot on St. George Island (assuming it's still there). Don't go into Harry's Package Liquor Store --- scary.

Oak Plantation Campground, Charleston, South Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park, lots of room between sites, most shaded. Only negatives were the MANY speed bumps which are bad for any RV rig, and the nice new pool right next to a busy, noisy highway. Other than getting yelled at for going 12 in our car between the speed bumps (WAY too many for any park!) the staff was pleasant and helpful. We camped at Oak Plantation Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Located about 8 miles from downtown Charleston so convenient but 17 is a very busy road, stoplights, etc., but still convenient to town.

Restaurants, gas stations nearby. Recommend Gilligan's ( a few blocks away) and Swig and Swing; avoid Southern Roots.

Bobcat Creek RV Park, LLC, Sayre, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very small operation but it was convenient, clean, safe and quiet. NO FACILITIES although some obviously longer-term customers.

Caution: Drive in off the highway involves a rather steep gravel road which dips down and then back up. Could be a problem getting in/out if there is heavy rain/flooding as some places have had. Otherwise, OK for a night's stay. We camped at Bobcat Creek RV Park, LLC in a Motorhome.

Not a bad place to stop for an overnight. Do check the weather though because it could be dicey if heavy rains!

Memphis KOA , Marion, Arkansas

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Only stayed one night and it was raining so were not able to use the pool, but the park and grounds looked clean and well-tended. Office staff were very nice and helpful. Location convenient to I-40 (7 miles north), they offered BBQ for delivered dinner, breakfast in AM (didn't have either). Some slight distance train and highway noise but not enough to be really disturbing. Would recommend this KOA. We camped at Memphis KOA in a Motorhome.

Only here for one night but would make a good base for Memphis activities if you didn't mind the longer drive into town.

Sleeping Ute RV Park (formerly Ute Mountain Casino RV Park), Towaoc, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

The park overall was not bad but needs some sprucing up. The indoor pool was not well-kept, dead bugs on the floor, only 2 chairs, etc. Noticed the nearby playground was choked with weeds and unusable. Plus's were the nearby casino and a good restaurant in the casino. Be aware the advertised rate of $18 is for tent sites, not RV sites. Also, they are no longer honoring the advertised (Internet and billboards) $5/night free slot play. This park is OK for a night or maybe two but definitely not a vacation destination. Would not necessarily stay here again. We camped at Sleeping Ute RV Park (formerly Ute Mountain Casino RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The casino was pretty much like other casinos but there was a decent-sized non-smoking area (bonus). Only one restaurant and one small café, but the restaurant was good: Waitstaff pleasant, Prime Rib Buffet on Saturday night a good value and good food.
