Coon Creek COE, Ponca City, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

This is COE park, it was very clean, new restrooms and were very clean, they are the kind that gets stuffing and hot in the summer...so shower early or late. We stayed in #47, #48 and #49 with a group of friends, these are very large, flat and nice sites. Each site has a covered table, fire pit, grill and small table for serving. There are lots of trees for shade. Most sites have trees, however a few are in the sun. Most sites are long, however a very few are kind of short, so pay attention to the length when you reserve the site. The lake was very muddy, which is to be expected since it is a river lake. We caught several nice catfish on jug lines...almost enough for a fish fry! We stayed 3 nights. The camp hosts were very nice. The park was very quiet even though it was full...I am thinking that is because the sites are pretty nice size. The ones down by the boat ramp are closer together, but still better than other places we have been. There is a boat ramp in the park that is nice and wide with a boat dock as well that will fit 3 boats docking while waiting for trailers to be backed down. There is really no swimming area in this park, but you can drive a few miles down to a designated swimming area in I think it was called Pioneer Park. We camped at Coon Creek COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Ponca City is close, there are two geocaches in the park itself, we didn't go get them, but they are there. Kaw City only has one gas station. The Catfishing below the dam when they are release water is amazing...very large catfish. There is a water park close by with other things to do there as well.

Sportsman Lake, Seminole, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed for two nights in cove 3 sites 4-7. Stayed in a site with full hookups with sewer so we didn't need the bathhouse which was a good thing, the toilets were stopped up and dirty. The sites were very shady and roomy. Each site has a grill and fire pit. The ranger was very nice and helpful. There was a nice playground for the kiddos. The lake was very nice. A no wake lake. Great for kayaking as there were many necks to explore. Lots of geocaches too. There is a swimming beach and two boat docks in the cove. We camped at Sportsman Lake in a Fifth Wheel.

Robinson's Landing, Lawton, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Nice city rv park. Wonderful view of Mt. Scott and great for kayaking. Bathhouse was nice and clean. Small playground for the kids. Quite a few sites are water front. Not a good place for swimming though. Other sites are in a small grove of trees and some away from the water with not too much shade. Close to Lawton for groceries and movie theaters. No sewer but all sites have water and electric. Very quiet park. Come here at least a couple times a year. We camped at Robinson's Landing in a Fifth Wheel.

Downstream RV Park, Quapaw, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here on our way to Table Rock Lake. If you have never stayed, you can go into the casino and get a players card, then go over to the gas station/convenience store and get a free nights stay. They have a courtesy shuttle to the casino, ask for the phone number when you checkin at the gas station, call them and they will take you to the casino. Same on the way back. It was basically a paved parking lot with water and electric hookups. No shade, very hot in the summer. But that was OK, we drove in, hooked up the air and went to the casino to give the RV a chance to cool off. Worked perfectly for a one night stay, passing through. But don't plan on staying long term if you want a nice shady spot. We didn't use the bath house, so can't say about how that was. It would have been nice to be able to get your players card at the gas station. Was kind of a pain to drive over to the casino, park way out in the parking lot so not to be in anyone's way, then walk into the casino to get players card, then drive back over to the gas station. But it was doable, just inconvenient. You are also allowed to use the casino pool if you stay at the RV park, just go to the hotel registration desk and they will give you a key card to get into the pool area, the pool area was very nice. There is a dump station if you need it. We didn't stay long enough so we didn't worry about using it. They have free wifi, make sure you ask for it when you checkin. The staff at the gas station were very friendly and helpful. No picnic tables or grills. We camped at Downstream RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Coon Creek COE, Ponca City, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Another COE campground: very nice. Very friendly gate attendants. Some of the sites are still grass and uneven. We were in site #48 and 49. Very shaded and large with flat large back in sites. These sites had covered concrete tables, fire ring and standup grill both along with a side table. These sites were waterfront just across the road with the ability to pull your boat up to the shore. Not all sites had that. Very quiet even though it was full, had lots of space between sites, in these specific sites. The sites in the circle we stayed in, did not have a through street, but a turn around. Had to unhook the boat, which we pull behind our 5th wheel to make the turn around. But totally doable. We camped at Coon Creek COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There weren't any small stores around to buy ice, had to go into Ponca City to do that: about 20 minutes away. Lots of things to do in Ponca City, Movie Theater, Museums, Parks, etc.

The Dam was open due to the high lake levels and there were a lot of fish to be caught below the dam.

Port of Kimberling Campground (formerly Waters Edge Cabin and RV Resor, Kimberling City, Missouri

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for a week. Very close to Branson, and lots to do here. The sites were very close together. We stayed in 68 and 69 with my daughter's family. The sites were nice, level and OK long enough. On site 69, you could not park your truck in front of your trailer, had to park it sideways, but on site 68 you could. They had fire pits and wooden tables that were moveable at each site. There was a nice swimming area with a dock in the middle to jump off of. There was a courtesy dock that you could stop to unload and load things, the marina with boat rentals was just across the neck. The sites 301-316 were very, very close together with very little shade, more like a gravel parking lot. But the sites 40-62 were all pretty nice and had plenty of shade. There was a nice, but small play ground that the grandkids enjoyed, it was beside the bathrooms, which were very nice as well. The little loop was a nice evening walk and the dumpsters were just as you drove into the area across from site 301. We camped at Port of Kimberling Campground (formerly Waters Edge Cabin and RV Resor in a Fifth Wheel.
