Iron Horse RV Resort, Elko, Nevada

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

We limped into our space with a truck not running right and the staff told us the GM dealership was right up the road. This campground was a nice surprise. Very neat and tidy, clean and the sites are well spaced and good size with some shade. We were here for 3 nights while our truck was being repaired, and they were really good about letting us rent the site day-to-day as long as we let them know by noon. The office staff were really nice and the laundry facilities were great and reasonably priced. I highly recommend this RV park as an overnight or a longer stay in Elko. We were on foot and groceries were just .5 miles away, so an easy walk. Very good location, quiet and clean. We camped at Iron Horse RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

McCloud RV Resort, McCloud, California

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very strange campground. It was in a beautiful location but the sites were placed very oddly and close together. All the sites were grassy. Our particular site was a back in with the hook-ups on the wrong side. The sewer was located just outside our front door of our 5th wheel so we didn't hook it up until just before leaving to dump. The campground is handy to Shasta City and has views of Mt. Shasta. The staff was less than helpful. Bathrooms were OK. We were here 4 nights. We camped at McCloud RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Hat Creek Resort & RV, Old Station, California

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Resort? Hardly! This campground is in major need of a make-over. The area is pretty with lots of trees and a creek but the whole place is totally run down. The one positive is we had a very helpful man guide us into our spot. The sign to "STOP and check-in at the store" is well past where you need to stop and check in at the store! The sites are very poorly marked. You really don't know what is a site and what is a road, as it is just all dirt and all the sites are just helter skelter. The hook-ups worked OK. The road or exit out was very poorly marked and full of pot holes. The bathrooms were horrible. I doubt they had been cleaned in years although the toilets did flush. This campground is in a good location for visiting Lassen Volcanic Natl Park but I would never stay here again. The volcanic dust gets into everything and everything is gritty. They need to add some gravel, define the sites, pave the sites or at the very least the road, so there isn't a constant cloud of dust. The motel looked very run down. The store was an absolute joke and since the nearest grocery store is almost 30 miles away, it was very disappointing. Cannot recommend this place at all. We camped at Hat Creek Resort & RV in a Fifth Wheel.
