Crow Wing Inn, Park Rapids, Minnesota

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Park sits adjacent to the motel with a couple well-kept permanent mobiles in between. In a field at the edge of a grove of pine and spruce trees. We are parked pretty close kind of in a chain around the trees but no one is in the other campers. One is parked beside us with our doors facing each other. Full hook ups however.... Not much info on their website so I called ahead and the owner told us it is 30 amp. We got here, started setting up and realized it's only a regular house plugin. To her credit she did call around to about 10 places for us to find an adapter. Got one about 10 miles away and it's been working fine. The moral of that story is make sure you have an adapter with you!

There's a lumber yard across the highway with some noise from trucks and beeping during the day. They close around 5 pm.

Bullwinkle's Bar & Grill within walking distance. Less than a mile into town with several shops and restaurants. Beautiful area and a cute town that looks like it has a lot going on.

No extra amenities but it's all we need. Just a place to park with hookups for a fair price. Got here on Thursday and plan to stay the weekend before moving on. We would stay here again. We camped at Crow Wing Inn in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Crow Wing is actually located in Nevis, not Park Rapids. They are about 11 miles apart.

Itasca State Park is a good visit with the Mississippi headwaters located there. You can wade across or cross on the rocks and go swimming at the headwaters.

Watona Park, Madelia, Minnesota

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Dirt/gravel/grassy sites and it had recently rained a lot so some sites were very muddy. Some were under water due to flooding. One entrance was closed. There is a camp host on site at the entrance. He told us to park wherever we wanted so we chose a spot backed up to the beautiful golf course. The site was long enough for our 32' plus the truck so we didn't have to unhook. AT&T phones worked great. Park WiFi showed up under connections but it was secured so only being there one night I didn't ask if we could use it. Got plenty of antenna TV channels. Water pressure was the best we've had in months.

Ball park nearby with a game going on but still managed to be peaceful. We were told by neighbors there is a very good Mexican restaurant close by but it was closed because of the flooding. Watona Park was a very pleasant experience. We were there on a Wednesday night and there were only 3 other campers. Some sites were partially/mostly shaded. We would stay there again. We camped at Watona Park in a Fifth Wheel.
