Medora Campground, Medora, North Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

A bit expensive for what you get, but excellent location to T. Roosevelt NP. Our site was extremely close to our drivers side neighbor. Site next door was a very short pull through. Their awning almost touched our slide out. We could see straight into their coach as they could see into ours. Park is mostly gravel and dirt. Rained first day and water and mud puddles stayed for our 3 days there. Our sewer hookup was under our neighbor's table. Careful walking pets as there is prickly pear cactus in perimeter areas. We camped at Medora Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Very nice for our overnight stay. Convenient and easy to get to. Nice long site with good hookups. Great wifi. Behind hotel, use of pool included. Neat and clean. Small dog walk area, but they did have a full bag dispenser. Too bad some people can't be bothered to pick up! We camped at Cottonwood Inn & Suites in a Motorhome.

Dick's RV Park, Great Falls, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Park tucked at end of dead end street. Must pass under railroad underpass to get to entrance. Large park with some paved, nicer sites closer to office with nice grass between sites. However many sites, including ours, were gravel, out in sun, no shade, little grass. Entire row of stored RVs, some in not very good condition. Several permanent residents, including a very shabby site right next to a tiny dog park with no shade and no benches. However you can walk pets down toward the entrance road, which is a nice grassy, shady area. Lots of bunnies around! We camped at Dick's RV Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park with lovely landscaping and flowers. Well maintained. Quite a few extended stay RVs. Good hookups and well placed. Fairly close to busy roads, but no real impact. Backs up to neighborhood on one side, quiet. Everyone friendly. Nice pet walks through campground itself. We camped at Jim & Mary's RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Spacious sites in the upper section, which we really liked. Good hookups, but with well water. Lots of grass, nice area to walk dogs and trails down to the river. Enjoyed our one night stay and met several people who were there for longer stays. Would definitely stay again. We camped at Birdland Bay RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Bonner County Fairgrounds, Sandpoint, Idaho

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Nice campground at fairgrounds. Water and 50 amp good. Nice asphalt sites and very level. Most with some shade. Very clean. Friendly host. Most sites were fairly spacious, although I saw a few that looked close. Some sites big rig friendly, we had no trouble with our 36 ft MH. Had to park tow in grass behind site, but no problem. Rodeo both nights we were there, which was kind of fun to see all the arrivals. Quiet after, so no troubles with sleep. Train nearby occasionally. Lots of of room to walk dogs. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Bonner County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Swiftwater RV Park & Store, White Bird, Idaho

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Small park with some sites on the river. Nice view. However sites are very small in large gravel lot. Neighbors awning had to be retracted when we left. Electric and water only. Sites share pedestals which means doors open to your neighbor's door. Picnic tables were side by side. No cell and unable to connect to wifi. Not much to do in area. Would NOT say this is big rig friendly at all (even for our 36 ft) as people had to park tow vehicles and pickups anywhere they could find space. We camped at Swiftwater RV Park & Store in a Motorhome.

Water's Edge RV Resort, Cascade, Idaho

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice campground next to Payette River. Couldn't find our reservation, but they accommodated us with a nice level site. Tree branches overhanging, but the came immediately and did major adjustments which allowed our MH to fit nicely. Level site with good hookups and good cable. Wifi adequate only. Concrete patio, but located toward rear of site. Friendly atmosphere. Nice pet walk areas and trail along river. Enjoyed our one night stay and wished we'd had another night or two. We camped at Water's Edge RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Craters of the Moon / Arco KOA , Arco, Idaho

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed 3 nights to see Craters of the Moon and EBR 1. Smaller, older KOA. Green space between campsites, owners work to water to ensure they stay that way. Located in high, dry desert area. They do offer ice cream nightly, as well as waffles in the morning. They also offer a limited food menu which they will deliver to your site. Good utilities, wifi and cable. Very small enclosed pet area. We camped at Craters of the Moon / Arco KOA in a Motorhome.

Very nice campground in a pretty location, convenient to Virginia City and Nevada City. Good utilities, including wifi. Lots of green grass between sites, patio areas are rock. Had to maneuver a bit around a tree. Some sites had nice views of a valley and surrounding mountains. Pretty sunsets. Friendly owners. Nice space to walk dogs. Rustic Wagon RV Campground and Cabins, West Yellowstone, Montana

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $56.00
Overall Rating:

Nicely located, far enough away from main street area. Quiet. Sites are very close in a large gravel lot. Owners were extremely nice and made several good recommendations for things to see and restaurants in the area. We had an AC issue and they were very helpful in assisting us to find repair tech. No dog walk area, but there is a forest service road starting less than a block away that is very nice for a walk. We camped at Rustic Wagon RV Campground and Cabins in a Motorhome.

Madison Campground (NPS Campground), Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

Nice little campground, but obviously designed at a time when smaller rigs were the norm. Senior pass gives 50 percent discount. Very busy, all sites full each of 4 nights we were there. Our site was a pull off "elbow". Had to maneuver around trees on drivers side and position slide outs so they could come out around trees. Had two trees approx 6 inches from front driver side slide. A full wall slide would not have worked. Needed leveling blocks on downhill, curbside. That said, it was a nice spot at the end of the loop and we had quite a bit of outdoor space with some shade. No cell service or hookups. Generators can run 8a to 8p and we needed the AC during the day. No showers in the campground. Not pet friendly, they are not allowed anywhere but along roadsides and at your site. It was mostly quiet. We camped at Madison Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

The national park was extremely busy. Most points of interest required a 15-20 minute wait to get a parking spot. Traffic was very heavy. Construction between Mammoth Hot Springs and Norris lead to delays.

Really pretty park. Nicely maintained. Our site was nice with paved patio, swing and table. Level, gravel site and convenient on off I 90. Quiet at night, but with so many things for kids to do, it is busy during the day. Hookups good. Wifi adequate, but slow at times. We camped at Billings KOA in a Motorhome.

Devils Tower KOA, Devils Tower, Wyoming

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $63.00
Overall Rating:

Amazing views! Pretty expensive even for a KOA, but it is just about the only game in town. Hookups adequate. Water pressure a bit low. No over the air TV and wi fi very slow. Many spots in full sun with temps while we were here in upper 90s. We asked for a shady spot when we reserved and got a back in that did have some shade during the day. Fairly level on grass. Front windshield faced Tower (nice) and western sun (not so nice). Very dusty at times. They do show Close Encounters of the Third Kind nightly and that is really fun to see the campground used in the film! We camped at Devils Tower KOA in a Motorhome.
