Carowinds Camp Wilderness Resort, Charlotte, North Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Only stayed here 1 night as a stopping point b/w PA & FL. Park was nice. Went to clubhouse and played checkers with the kids for a bit. Didn't use the showers but saw them; bathrooms and showers were clean. Liked the view of the roller coasters and slides; of course, kids wanted to go. Sites were of avg spacing; probably a bit on the narrow side really, along with the roadways.

The guy across from us got in late and didn't seem experienced navigating with his 5th wheel; since the areas were narrow and it was getting dark, he smashed the cab of his truck with the trailer. Overall, nice campground with lots of shade, families, and activity. We camped at Carowinds Camp Wilderness Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Oak Hollow Family Campground, High Point, North Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We thoroughly enjoyed this campground. We were in section B, the gravel lot for larger RVs. We were concerned about lot being uneven in that section (we were in B17) based on previous reviews, but was not an issue at all; just needed a little leveling out. No trees in this lot, as in neighboring A & C sections (for smaller trailers and tent camping). View of lake from section B was great, including a shelter with picnic tables. Saw lots of canoes and kayaks, row teams, and ducks. Kids went to a nice little playground in section A (or C, can't remember) and then went to the large playground at the marina across the lake (had to drive). Overall, thought it was a great facility and would certainly recommend it. Only drawback is that the sites were smaller (width); our neighbor could not extend their awning all the way with our slides out. We did not have a neighbor on our other side, but we would've had the same issue. We camped at Oak Hollow Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Crawford's Camping Park, Darlington, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for 4 days visiting relatives in the area. The campground was nice and neat. We got a shaded, pull-in site. Many of the RVs seemed as if they were seasonals and were empty. Check in was fine and the campground was easy to find and access. They only accept cash or checks, so happy we remembered the checkbook. There was a nice playground; the kids enjoyed that quite a bit. The owner lady knocked on our RV to remind us that the pool was open, but we were busy with relatives. It was nice she thought about the kids. At checkout (we were trying to leave at 9am), no one was in the office or adjacent trailer so had to call the owner's phone. Wanted someone to come read the electricity meter, but could not get a hold of anyone. Finally, at departure time, as we were pulling out, we ran into one of the attendants and he read the meter. There was no delay afterall, but didn't like that I couldn't find anyone initially. (Only $9 for 4 days for electricity.) Overall, good experience & would stay here again when visiting family in Beaver.

Initially, I was concerned about the other negative reviews and questioned booking here, but turned out fine and it was convenient. There were RULES posted rather excessively (no rugs or anything on grass, etc) around the campground, but we experienced no issues or tongue-lashings; think they just take pride in their campground. We camped at Crawford's Camping Park in a Travel Trailer.
