Hide-A-Way Campsites, Central Bridge, New York

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is just a nice, small and simple campground. There's no thrills, but they're not trying to charge you for thrills. You're definitely getting what you pay. Nice sites. Quiet Camping. Nice Pool. Playground area for kids. Big field for kids to play in. I guess they have activities during peak season, but we were there after Labor Day, so nothing was going on, but that was ok with us. You can certainly go with a Big Rig. We'll certainly return sometime. Best part is that it's 10 minutes from Howe Caverns. I gave this an overall rating of 10 because for what they're charging, they're giving you that all back in my opinion. We camped at Hide-A-Way Campsites in a Fifth Wheel.

King Phillip's Campground, Lake George, New York

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $68.00
Overall Rating:

NEW CAMPERS AND BIG RIG OWNERS BEWARE!!!! As my wife, son and I excitedly arrived to King Phillips Campground for our first time to join our parents for the Labor Day weekend, we were checked in for a site that was not our original reservation. Even the manager rolled his eyes in question the newly assigned site. On July 6th, I had been told I would be placed in section "C" over the phone after I had described that I drove a Freightliner truck and had a 40' 5th wheel camper. My parents were also questioning why we weren't in the section that even THEY were told we were going to be in 7 hours earlier. I was trying to follow the lead of the parking escort who guaranteed me there would be no issues fitting into the new site. I proceeded to try to park in the spot as directed by the parking escort when my truck and trailer began to slide down the road into a tree. After backing down the road and going to the office to tell them what had happened, they offered me another site that would involve me having to drive down the same steep slippery hill. I declined and asked about being placed in the section "C" which now had a 36' Motorhome in it. Also, the 2 sites next to it were empty. I was told they could not move the people soon to arrive from these empty sites (although they had NO issues moving us!). This left us no option other than to drive 2 ½ hours back home and leave our family members behind, ruining our family camping weekend. After numerous attempts to contact the owner, he finally returned my call 24 hours after this occurred. This is NOT the behavior of a professional business owner. He obviously did not even care this happened and offers no resolution for damages created by his staff and their not honoring our reservation. We camped at King Phillip's Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Hid'n Pines Family Campground, Old Orchard Beach, Maine

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

We thought the campground was a very nice. We didn't use the restrooms, but the other areas were very clean and well taken care of. I gave them a 9 only because they didn't have any activities like other campgrounds of this quality, but I do realize you're there for the beaches and town activities, which we took part in. We camped at Hid'n Pines Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Our site was a little tight given we have a 40 foot fifth wheel and a very large truck, but it worked out fine. We found some other sites we would request for our next visit.

River Plantation RV Park, Sevierville, Tennessee

The grounds were kept clean and mowed nicely. The pool area was very nice with shaded areas. There wasn't a whole lot for kids to do, but there's tons to do outside the park. We camped at River Plantation RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Pine Acres Family Camping Resort, Oakham, Massachusetts

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $73.00
Overall Rating:

This was our first time staying here and we were very happy with the campground. Lots of things for adults and kids to do. One of the biggest things that impressed us, was that they asked for you to use a certain kind of dog leash. So, instead of asking you to purchase one, they just gave them out for free. Took care of a problem in their eyes and didn't ask anything of the campers other then to use it. We camped at Pine Acres Family Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Adventure Bound Camping Resort at Deer Run, Schaghticoke, New York

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

They do have a nice list of activities for kids and adults. DJ one night with a band the second night along with hayride, which consisted of a wagon pulled by a truck, Bingo and crafts. I would estimate the campground is 90 percent permanent party campers. Leaving very few spots for weekenders. The spot they had for us was flooded with about 3 inches of water covering the entire site, so I requested a new site. After much whisper and meeting behind a closed door they said they had another site. I did make a reservation on January 25th and alerted them of the size of out camper. They drove me down to the site, which was not flooded and worked for us for the weekend, but they were very prompt to inform me that if there were no sites I wanted due to them being flooded they would not refund me my money and it was my problem. The two family pools were disgusting. Completely green is color and extremely dirty. I would not allow my son to swim in them. The water slides they had were suppose to be open from 12-3. At 12:00 only two out of the four were open for kids to go on. At 12:45 the mid sized slide opened and when we left at 1:30 the largest slide was still not open. On the next day, 3 slides were open on time and then the large slide opened at 12:30, but for only a half hour then they closed it. There had been no campground cleanup done. Piles of leaves were every where, where the campers had raked their sites, but the leaves on the campground facility had not been cleaned up at all. The playground area was almost non-usable from where they had not finished the work they had started. The site and roads were gravel, which turned to mud when it rained at all or were extremely dusty when it was dry. We camped at Adventure Bound Camping Resort at Deer Run in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

If you end up going here ask to stay in the back field. We walked down there and though there is no sewer at the sites, it's a nice grassy area with an amazing view through the trees. If we go back, that is where we would request parking.

Cold Springs Camp Resort, Weare, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $69.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived in the dark Friday night to a very crowded and busy entrance. Crowded and busy from people, bikes and golf carts, which just makes me a little nervous trying to drive through. Our site was plenty big enough and easy to back into with our 40' fifth wheel with Freightliner.

They have lots of activities specially during the Family Fun weekend when we were here. The pools and hot tubs, yes plural, were the nicest pools and hot tubs and area we had EVER seen camping. Certainly looking forward to going back.

My only complaint was the communication from the office to the gold cart escort should be more clear, as they took us the wrong way and then couldn't go over a bridge, so had to back out part of the way to get turned around. We camped at Cold Springs Camp Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Wells Beach Resort Campground, Wells Beach, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $93.00
Overall Rating:

To start they make up the rules as they go along. So, one person will be able to pull into their campsite at 11:00AM but the next can't even be on the property until 1:00PM. Then another will be able to have two cars at their site but the next will have to pay $8.00 extra per day for their extra car. These are just two examples. I'll share my biggest complaint more soon when I have more time but it involves the complete insensitive owners which are two of the rudest people I have ever met in my life.

Another issue was that right next door there was a construction site with extremely loud noise all day long, starting at 7:00am-5:00pm. They offered no discount due to this and didn't even care.

As far as the campground. I would not call it a resort, but a nice campground. It's difficult for 40' or longer campers to get into the Premium back in sites.

The sites are clean and have nice shady areas. The pool is nice, but I could see it being too small if a lot of people showed up at one time.

There's not much at all for kids. Two very simple and run down playgrounds and a couple of arcade games, but that's really it. No activities of any kind. We camped at Wells Beach Resort Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
