O'Bannon Woods State Park, Corydon, Indiana

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We camped here for 3 nights for the first time. This an older campground that has all types of sites from level to I am not sure how you could get anything level. The campground was quiet where we stayed. The shower houses are older but clean and the shower water was the hottest I have ever encountered in a campground. They did update all the electrical service to 50/30 amps. AT&T service was not to be found anywhere in the park. OTA tv was strong with stations coming from Louisville. They have a really nice new pool and have some very nice trails that cover the park and the forest. The Ohio river overlook offers a great view. As with any Indiana State Park you have to pay to get in to the park to camp. We camped at O'Bannon Woods State Park in a Motorhome.

Overlook reastruant in Leavenworth offers great food and a spectular view of the Ohio river. Corydon has some nice shops and is home to Indiana's first state capitiol and there are several caves in the area.

Brookville Mounds State Recreation Area, Brookville, Indiana

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

One of the largest state park campgrounds in Indiana, this park has it all. Hiking, boating, swimming beach and lots of wildlife. I counted 7 red birds in a tree at out campsite one morning. Our site was nice but a tree had been removed and the stump ground out so that part of the site was uneven and had no grass. Full hook up sites go fast for weekends and Holidays so book early all other sites are electric only. AT&T was 2bars and OTA TV was adequate. Visitor center is managed by the Army Corp of Engineers and has an overlook of the Dam and lake. I was told the fishing is very good. We camped at Brookville Mounds State Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Point Mallard Park, Decatur, Alabama

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

We did a one night stay. The park was pretty much full with what looks like long stay residents. I would avoid this park in the summer months unless I was going to the water park, it has a large recreation complex that would be great for families. As others has said the roads are narrow and with low hanging branches and cars close to the road. Our site was more than ample for a quick over night, it was fairly level, quite and the all the hooks up worked. We camped at Point Mallard Park in a Motorhome.

We are already making plans to come back to this park when we can stay longer This has to be the best park for the value of any park anywhere. FHU and large level concrete pads. Johnson County Park, Edinburgh, Indiana

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed on a Saturday and Sunday night, by Sunday afternoon most all the campers left. It was quite and peaceful. Our site was level and had some shade, The park has installed all new electric boxes and water at each site, you now have a choice of 50 amp for $20 or 30 amp for $16 a night. we have stayed here a few times in the last year as its very close to home, there are lots of things to do at the park to keep you busy. The staff was friendly and helpful. We camped at Johnson County Park in a Motorhome.

Paynetown State Recreation Area, Bloomington, Indiana

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed 3 night during the week. With over 200 camping spots I counted only 12 campers using the campground during our stay. We had a nice view of Lake Monroe. It was peaceful and quite at this time of year, but I'm sure that in a few months I want to be no where near this campground as it is very popular with families and boaters. Lake Monroe is a beautiful lake with marinas and swimming beaches, it offers great boating and fishing. They have a camp store on site but for real shopping Bloomington is about 10 miles away. As with most all Indiana State properties they charge an entrance fee on top of the camping fee. We camped at Paynetown State Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Riverside Retreat, LaBelle, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

We stopped here overnight, its about 20 min from Ft Myers Fl. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Looks like a nice snowbird campground without all the bells and whistles of the high dollar resorts in the area. There is no shade in the campground. Full hook ups but the water has a smell. Campground is on the grounds of a nice church retreat and borders the Caloosahatchee River. We camped at Riverside Retreat in a Motorhome.

Corbin / Laurel Lake KOA, Corbin, Kentucky

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Park is nice and I am sure it very busy in the summer months. Our pull thru site was just perfect size for the Motorhome and toad. It had about six sewer dumps to use on this site and that was very helpful for a bath and a half that has two holding tanks. we would stay here again if we need a place to get off the road. WiFi was spotty in the section we where in. We camped at Corbin / Laurel Lake KOA in a Motorhome.

Coe Landing, Tallahassee, Florida

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at this small County park for a week over Thanksgiving. we had the campground all to ourselves for 2 night, but by the holiday and weekend all sites where full, It was still nice and quite in the campground. Some sites are right on the lake and all sites have a lake view. There is a public boat ramp and large parking lot right next door to the campground that produced more noisy than the campers. We where awakened a couple of mornings early by duck hunters on the lake, it seamed that there was always some body fishing from the docks at the boat ramp at night. Leon County needs to up grade the shower house. I'm sure we will stay here again in the future. We camped at Coe Landing in a Motorhome.

Brown County State Park, Nashville, Indiana

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We did a two night trip to view some fall foliage and we where not disappointed. The leaves where past their prime but with the temps in the 80's and sunny the remaining leaves showed us their beauty. The campground was not busy during the week and the camp store had 30% off every thing except ice and firewood. The park is very hilly and is great for hiking, biking and walking. You will have to pay or have a pass to enter the park for the first time. The only low spot was we where invaded by some kind bugs that looked like lady bugs, they seamed to like the warm exterior of the motorhome and then finding their way inside as the temps cooled, we spent the evenings removing them from the inside as we watched the Cubs/Indians games. We camped at Brown County State Park in a Motorhome.
