AB Camping & RV Park, Cheyenne, Wyoming

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is gravel with level sites. It is fairly easy to find off the highway, however, it is easy to miss the driveway. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. We had a spot in the rear of the campground (but next to the secondary restrooms & laundry), with lots of grass to walk the dog, and a small unleashed fenced area. Super quiet and away from highway & train tracks. We camped at AB Camping & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Best part: their nightly BBQ. Fantastic!!! Slow-cooked in the smoker, it melts in your mouth and falls off the bone. BBQ sauce is homemade, and so are their pies. Definitely indulge! Don't waste your time going to town to eat BBQ or chicken.

Red Barn RV Park, Tea, South Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

What a beautiful family-owned park! Be sure to use Exit 77 off Hwy 29 as it is paved all the way to the campground. Do not use Exit 71 as the road is gravel all the way to the park. Sites are gravel but level. Interior roads are gravel, but maintained. Nice-sized concrete pad with picnic table. Lots of trees throughout the park. Some sites have fire rings. Pet and kid friendly with a nice play area, pool and lots of grassy areas to walk the dog. Restrooms, showers & laundry are centrally located in the park. The park was full, but reasonably quiet. Not near the highway or a train track as far as we could tell. We camped at Red Barn RV Park in a Motorhome.

Rapid City RV Park and Campground, Rapid City, South Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Really liked this park. The sites need a little TLC (gravel sites not quite level) thus the reason for not giving this a 10+ rating. The sites are terraced and the deeper you go into the park the better. Sitting up on a hill you have a panoramic view of Rapid City. About 1.5 miles from grocery, restaurants and services. East jump off spot for Sturgis, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Deadwood, etc. Great dog areas with grass. Nice laundry facilities, workout room, pool. People we met were nice and friendly. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Rapid City RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Cedar Oaks RV Resort, Grove, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Although we didn't have a view of Grand Lake (one row back), we still had a nice spot, without someone crowding us on either side. Gravel roads, level gravel sites, with tight turns causing us to have to unload our car. Beautiful grassy areas to walk the dog, lake access, clean bathrooms & showers, nice laundry facility. Staff is friendly and "Lady" the cat is there to greet you at the office or in the laundry room. Reasonable rates, nice and quiet. Would definitely stay again! We camped at Cedar Oaks RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Branson Shenanigans RV Park, Branson, Missouri

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Love this campground! Not far from Hwy 76, it is a great jumping off spot for anything in the Branson area. Lots of trees, and bordered by woods, it feels like you are really camping. The gravel sites are terraced so you don't feel boxed in by neighboring coaches. Very hilly with some tight turns, so you will need to unhook a tow vehicle, however, several big rigs were scattered throughout the park. Very strong Wi-Fi, clean laundry facilities and lovely waiting room that felt like the living room in someone's house. Camp hosts are super friendly and helpful, living right above the camp office. They will order discounted show tickets, and your tickets will be delivered to your rig. Also, they can recommend the various shows based on your preferences. Would definitely recommend this park and stay here again. We camped at Branson Shenanigans RV Park in a Motorhome.

Rockwell RV Park, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Our one night stay turned into 5 days due to RV issues. Wonderful place to get stuck! Quiet park. Level gravel sites, great dog walking area. Indoor pool, weight room and beauty salon onsite. Clean laundry facilities. The campground also holds church services in their community room on Sunday morning. The staff is helpful and friendly, with great advice on local sightseeing. Easy access on/off highway. Close to restaurant, shopping, sightseeing. Would definitely stay again! We camped at Rockwell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Pioneer RV Park, Guthrie, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This park is easy to access from the highway. Just 5 miles south of Guthrie, it is convenient and reasonable. Not a lot of amenities (no cable, pool, Wi-Fi) but the park is quiet and sites are fairly large so you don't feel like you are right on top of your neighbor. Roads in the park are potholed, but they were working on them when we left. Would stay again. We camped at Pioneer RV Park in a Motorhome.

AOK Campground and RV Park, Saint Joseph, Missouri

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Owner was very friendly and helpful. Had to call # on "office" door upon arrival, and she was there within minutes as she and her husband live onsite. Strong Wi-Fi, very nice/beautiful pool. Lots of grassy areas, trees and built-in fire pits at most sites. Be prepared to drive down a VERY dusty dirt/gravel road for .5 mile to get to the park. The speed limit is 35 mph, so there is a LOT of dirt/dust in the air every time someone zooms up or down the road. You will hear Jake brakes from trucks traveling Hwy 29, as it runs along the backside of the park. No cable hookups, but did get several clear local channels via antenna. Site breaker tripped several times, due to the receptacle and breaker being old and worn. (Hubby is a retired electrician.) Two large ponds, but like a lot of areas in the US there is heavy algae growth. Overall, our stay was very pleasant, as the campground itself is quiet. We would stay again. We camped at AOK Campground and RV Park in a Motorhome.

Omega Farms RV Park, Willis, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

So disappointed, what could have been SO nice, was not. Should have known there was an issue when I called to make a reservation and the man who answered the phone said, "We aren't a Good Sam's campground anymore." The pictures on the website must be over 10 years old. The campground could be a really wonderful place, but it definitely needs TLC. From what I was told, the place has changed hands a couple of times over the last few years. The first campsite we were assigned had a huge mound of fire-ants, a soggy large area rug where a patio should have been. And THAT was considered a deluxe spot. The man in the office did move us to another site when we mentioned the issues. The "gravel" (needs to be re-graveled) sites were not very level, and there were a lot of potholes in the interior roads. Large grassy area needed mowing, but good to walk the dog. The can to put the dog poo in was full. The pavilion was surrounded by yellow caution tape due to one of the corner posts laying on the ground from either termite or dry rot damage, and a temporary post temporarily in place. No cable, no wi-fi, no pool - way overpriced for the lack of amenities. Laundry facilities were OK. I hope they find the money to update and improve the grounds, because it is a lovely and quiet wooded area. It has a beautiful pond, but it too needs some maintenance. We camped at Omega Farms RV Park in a Motorhome.

Southern Star RV Park, Van Horn, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park with level gravel, shady spots. Camp hosts are very friendly and helpful. Easy on/off highway, near a train track, but no horn-blowing near campground location. However, you can hear it in the distance if your windows are open. Nice fenced in dog area, with a large pine tree for shade. Only about 50 spaces, it is a great place for an overnighter or a couple days rest, because there is nothing to really see in Van Horn, TX. (But do stop at Cooper's BBQ in Junction, TX.) Many of the campground's sites are weekly/monthly residents. We camped at Southern Star RV Park in a Motorhome.

San Antonio KOA, San Antonio, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

So glad we picked this campground for our stay. Very close to The Alamo, Riverwalk, and downtown San Antonio. It was an easy on/off the highway, but far enough away so you didn't have traffic noise. There is a train track nearby, but didn't bother us at night. The gravel sites are level, and there are plenty of grassy areas to walk the dog, along with a country trail right along the creek. The staff is friendly and helpful, plus the park is very large with outstanding amenities you expect from KOA. Definitely recommend this facility! We camped at San Antonio KOA in a Motorhome.

Tucson / Lazydays KOA, Tucson, Arizona

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

This is a HUGE campground, very big rig friendly, and easy on. I believe all of the sites are pull-through. KOA has been very smart to install large solar panels above a majority of the sites, thus providing much needed shade in the summer. Those sites go fast, so book early during summer months. The onsite bar/grill is family friendly with good food for good prices. My only "complaint" is the off-leash dog park was on the opposite side of the park (right near the park entrance). However, there are several grassy areas where you can walk your dog on-leash. Overall, fantastic place to stay with an easy on/off the highway. We camped at Tucson / Lazydays KOA in a Motorhome.

If you are going in the winter months, be sure to book early because even though it is a huge park, it fills up fast. Summer months there are covered spots, but those too go fast. However, there are trees on most spots.
