Black Rock Park, Buchanan Dam, Texas

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Nice place, friendly host. Shaded sites. The park is listed as pull trough but only Site #9 is a pull through, all others are back in. Asphalt drive fairly level, various lengths.

If you have dogs they will pick up stickers, they seems to be everywhere, is just the type of vegetation/grass. An abundance of low flying insects and tiny spiders. Did not bother us but somebody may not care for. Probably seasonal. All sites have 2 sewer hook up on raised concrete plates. 20-30 & 50 A seem to be standard at all sites. We camped at Black Rock Park in a Travel Trailer.

Jim Hogg Park COE, Georgetown, Texas

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

This is a Corp of Engineers facility so we got a 50% discount. The Jim Hogg road is at a stop light, marked and easy to spot. Access is a nice paved road.

There is no sewer at the camping spot but there is a dumping station before the park exit. Bathroom and showers are a bit nasty.

The park host drives around every couple of hours. There are a few double spots for those with a boat. All sites have 20A and 30A service but not all have 50A, is not indicated on the website so you need to call. We preregistered on line, the formalities at the gate were fast. Nice trees and a 15'x15' covered pavilion with table and BBQ. Most site have lake-view, there is a boat ramp and fishing doc. No WiFi. No permanent residents seen. Lots of deer. We camped at Jim Hogg Park COE in a Travel Trailer.

2 miles from the park is a major road (Williams) with all sorts of convenience stores and a supermarket before getting into Georgetown which is 6 miles east on Williams.
