Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park of Estes, Estes Park, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $58.00
Overall Rating:

We needed 2 nights in the Estes Park area and this was the only facility that had an opening. Jellystone is geared for juveniles and they did have some programs. That said, this park seemed to have fewer things for kids than the Jellies I've been in. On the plus side, utilities worked and I had a great view of Southern sky for Dish reception. We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park of Estes in a Motorhome.

Wellington KOA, Wellington, Kansas

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

This is a fine spot for overnight. Utilities work, moderate cellphone reception for tethering (both Verizon & AT&T). Park is cramped, tight turns. It is about 1-1/2 miles from the interstate so no highway noise, BUT. There is a rail yard nearby and for about an hour beginning at 3 AM there was the constant bang, bang, bang of trains being "assembled". Impossible to sleep through it. We camped at Wellington KOA in a Motorhome.

Beaver's Bend State Park RV Campground, Broken Bow, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This was a fun place to be. There are about 5 RV campground throughout the whole park, only one is reservable. As far as I could tell, only the handicap sites had FHU. That said, my site was one the river, nice view and fun. We camped at Beaver's Bend State Park RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Ms. G's RV Park LLC, Loraine, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Rating is based on how well they deliver what they promise. This is a no frills park that is under renovation. All the sites have new power pedestals but they aren't activated yet. The host has VERY long extension cords running from the main power panel to your site, which work well. Quite location, far enough away from the interstate to abate traffic noise. Cash only, military discount. We camped at Ms. G's RV Park LLC in a Motorhome.

Distant Drums RV Resort, Camp Verde, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

This is a premium Snow Bird location. Most sites are back-in with a few pull-in. I've not seen pull-in sites before but seems practical for the big diesel pushers they put there. Most sites are concrete double width so parking your toad or truck is not a problem. The large staff keeps the park immaculate. There are no discounts during the Snow Bird season, hence the Value rating. We camped at Distant Drums RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Cactus RV Park, Tucumcari, New Mexico

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

The ratings are based on how well a park delivers what they advertise. This park states up front they are a no frills, clean park and they are. The grounds are well maintained, pea gravel mostly level with full hookup. No restrooms, showers, laundry and they advertise as an overnight facility. The staff asks you tons of questions with regard to your needs to include satellite antenna and then personally escort your to a site matching your needs. 100% pull-through sites. Price included retired military and cash discounts. We camped at Cactus RV Park in a Motorhome.

Fishing Bridge Campground (Concessionaire Operated), Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

I have stayed here before and likely will again simply because my rig is too long for the other parks. There are a number of paved loops that are in excellent condition however on each of my 4 trips here I landed on one of the gravel / dirt loops. It seemed as if some sort of oil was laid on on the loop...and then snow and rain turned it into a tar black mud that literally got every where. This impresses me as a typical government contract facility...charge as much as you can and provide the minimum. That said, the staff is superb. I had a series of one-day reservations that they were able to combine to keep me from moving every day...2nd year in a row they managed that miracle. We camped at Fishing Bridge Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Peregrine Pines FamCamp (Military FamCamp), US Air Force Academy, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

One of the better Military RV Parks (FamCamps). I've stayed here before and will again. They are very busy and don't often answer the phone but they do call back. Reservations far in advance are encouraged. One of the few FamCamps that allow Snow Birds, other times of the year stay limits are imposed. We camped at Peregrine Pines FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Garden of the Gods Campground, Colorado Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $68.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very popular "premium" facility that is always full. As a result the sites are adequate but small and over priced. We were not told what to do with the trash and could not find a dumpster so we left the trash on the picnic table when we left. This was my 2nd and last stay here, the local state parks appeal to us more. We camped at Garden of the Gods Campground in a Motorhome.

Amarillo Ranch RV Park, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very large park, over 200 sites, some are permanent. All gravel, level, pull through. I've stayed here at least 5 times and never made a reservation, however in summer they do fill up on Thurs - Sun nights. There is a new outdoor bar & music stage right across the street (used to be a water park). Coincidentally it is open Thurs - Sun nights. It might get loud, don't know as I was there on Monday. They have a cute gift shop and free donuts & coffee from 8-9:30 each day. I down graded cleanliness a little simply because a gravel facility at 90+ degrees is naturally dusty. We camped at Amarillo Ranch RV Park in a Motorhome.

Twin Pines RV Park, Lander, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

As with any product or service an RV park must be viewed in context of a like item. If you are looking for a 5* luxury facility this is not for you. If on the other hand you want a place to spend a night or two in the quiet of the country with a great atmosphere, then this is the place. As compared to other small remote facilities this one is great, flat level gravel (no levelers needed), good utilities. They offer a Military discount to Active Duty or Retired if you present a valid military I.D. card. We camped at Twin Pines RV Park in a Motorhome.

Peregrine Pines FamCamp (Military FamCamp), US Air Force Academy, Colorado

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Another excellent campground. I timed it just right, left the morning of the Air Force - Navy football game. Pure traffic mayhem from noon on. Lot's of great shade, makes a portable satellite antenna almost required. The day I arrived they were expecting 30 + snow birds to come in for the winter, summer is limited stay. Plenty of room for the MH and toad. All the base amenities are available, gym, shopping, eating, etc. We camped at Peregrine Pines FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Buckley AFB Famcamp (Military FamCamp), Buckley AFB, Colorado

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

One of the best FamCamps I've had the pleasure of using. This is attested to by the long lead time for reservations. You can not reserve more than 30 days in advance, wait to 29 or 28 and you likely won't get in.

The campground and spaces are spacious, clean and for a Military Base very quiet. Many pull through and back in sites, first come first served so arrive early on your reserved date to get the best sites. Most sites have sloped entrance / exit, but the pads are flat & level.

They have a long term issue with water in the campground so the normal $24 rate was reduced to $10. We camped at Buckley AFB Famcamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Lewisville Lake Park Campground, Lewisville, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $8.00
Overall Rating:

This is an OK park if you are interested in a no frills area. The sites are water and electric only with a dump site. For the most part it was a good stay except they have 2 looong term residents whose old run down stuff spreads all over their site. This is unusual for a city park but...the follow most of the rules. 30 day limit, out for a few days and back in for 30 days. He said he's been doing that for 5 years. When ever code enforcement or the campground staff tries to get him to tidy up or limit his stay I'm told he goes to the city council and complains that they won't let a homeless vet use the park. So for him and a neighbor the rules are bent. I cut my visit short by 50% and no, no refund. According to a staff worker there had been so many early departures in the past that the City of Lewisville stopped giving refunds.

While there there are picnic tables, many are in too poor a condition to use. We camped at Lewisville Lake Park Campground in a Motorhome.
