Elizabethtown / Hershey KOA, Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here six nights last week of September - this is by far one of the best campgrounds we have stayed at this year. The campground was very clean and well maintained - no trash, no weeds, no ruts in roads. The bathrooms are the best I think I have ever seen - cleaned daily and plenty of hot water. Even with the campground just about full on the weekend, the staff kept up with the bathrooms. Plenty of activities for the kids as well. Would highly recommend. We camped at Elizabethtown / Hershey KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Shenandoah Valley Campground, Verona, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

If you are looking for a campground to take the kids to that offers plenty of activities, this is the place. From renting golf carts, tubing down the river, arcade, put put golf, swimming pool and hot tubs, there is PLENTY to do. Not to mention karaoke and a DJ for dancing, the campground offers many activities. During our stay the campground was very close to full and surprisingly, very quit in the evening and night. Parking within the sites would be somewhat tight but manageable. Trash cans were convenient throughout the grounds and picked up twice a day. Restrooms and showers were clean, no lack of hot water. We would stay here again. We camped at Shenandoah Valley Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

NOTE: there are TWO campgrounds named Shenandoah Hills fairly close by; this review is for the one in Verona. The other Shenandoah Hills is in Mount Jackson, Va, near Route 11 Chips and Shenandoah Caverns, just so anyone thinking these venues are close to the Verona Shenandoah Hills.

Shenandoah Hills Campground, Madison, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

This is the second time we stayed at this campground - first time was three years ago (I did not review at that time) and it is much improved since then. Cleaner, well maintained and friendlier. No problems maneuvering in or out of campground or camp site. There was some rain while we were there and drainage throughout was good - I did not see standing water in our site or around the campground. Restrooms are clean, well lite and well maintained. The pool was nice and clear. This campground also has nice little things for you to do over the weekend as well - ice cream social and a small craft for dad to make (Father's Day Weekend). The camp store had a good selection if you needed something as well. We would camp here again. We camped at Shenandoah Hills Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Chickahominy Riverfront Park, Williamsburg, Virginia

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice local park run by Jame City County with a great location along the river. If you are into boating and fishing, this is a great place for both. It is not a large campground and has the feel of a smaller one, but with plenty to do if you want to. The downside to this campground is that the sites need to be re-graveled; because it rained prior to our arrival and while we were there (not the campgrounds fault) and all the low spots showed up and there was alot of mud, unfortunately. The restrooms are average at best, and what you would expect for a county park. There is no cable TV or WiFi but there was good cell phone reception and the TV antenna picked up plenty of local stations from Richmond and Norfolk. With some camp site maintenance this could be a much better park without a tremendous amount of work. If we were to stay here again, we would ask for site 321 - it seemed to sit the highest with plenty of room for big rigs and a beautiful view over the river. We camped at Chickahominy Riverfront Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We picked this campground because of the close proximity to Williamsburg, which has plenty to do. If you are into seafood, Captain George's Buffet is worth going to.

Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

This the third time we have camped in the Gettysburg area and this, by far, is the nicest campground (we camped at Drummer Boy twice before). With only about 70 sites, it is small enough to not feel crowded but has all of amenities you would expect at a larger campground. It was not difficult to get my 5th wheel into the campground or back in, and we were escorted to our site by staff. The bathrooms are some of the best we have seen; trash is picked up daily right from our site. The only downside to this campground is the WiFi leaves alot to be desired, if that is important to you. We would camp here again. We camped at Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Shenandoah Valley Campground, Mount Jackson, Virginia

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

Like most other reviews, this is a very clean and well kept campground. Campsites are laid out nicely and spaced nicely too. Very convenient to I-81 as well; there is some road noise but we did not find it overly loud. Shore power was good, no interruptions, and water pressure was fine as well. The camp store was well stocked and prices were moderate. We had a good time here. We camped at Shenandoah Valley Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Country Acres Campground, Gordonville, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

This is by far the cleanest and friendliest staffed campground we stayed at this year. The grounds were well kept, the bathrooms were cleaned daily and overall the campers around us were quiet and well behaved. There were no problems with any of the hook ups, very good selection of cable channels and the WiFi actually worked well. The only suggestion that would make this campground any better would be to space out the sites somewhat more that what they are now. We did not use the pool because it was closed. We would definitively stay here again. We camped at Country Acres Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Heavenly Acres Campground, Stanardsville, Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This campground provides one of the most peaceful and relaxing camping trips for us so far this year. The site was very spacious and fairly level - there was a charcoal grill as well that was newer. This, however, is not a campground that will keep children occupied and there is limited activities for them, even during the height of the summer. The staff was very friendly and nice. There is a part of the campground that has some long term sites but it was not very close to where our site was. There are also several cabooses that can be rented out -they looked interesting. There was also good antenna reception for the TV. The bathrooms were just male/female single toilets next to each other. We did not use the showers and the pool was already closed. Water pressure was good and even had a good taste to it. We would go back there again. We camped at Heavenly Acres Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Bull Run Regional Park, Centreville, Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

It is hard to believe that this park is so close to Fairfax and DC - lots of open space and very quiet, considering I-66 is so close. We really like the way you pull into your site along the camp road and the hook ups are close to the road. Our site was very spacious, level, and we felt as if there was more room because there was not another campsite in front of us. Dump station was very convenient and spacious. The only negative during our stay was the noise from the shooting range, which is located in the park, mostly during mid-morning time frame; however, it was not that bad. We would definitely consider camping here again. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Endless Caverns Resort, New Market, Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

This was our first time staying here and we really enjoyed it. There was a knowledgeable staffer that escorted us to our site and was very personable. We had a great campsite; long and fairly level and there was no one in front of us. No problems with power or sewer hook ups. We went to the pool to swim three times; the pool was clean and well kept. The campground overall is well maintained and there was a water truck that came around on Sunday to keep the dust down. There are some parts of the campground that have some fairly steep hills that could be a challenge; however, it looked like all the sites in the E section would be easily accessible for big rigs and 5th wheels. The only downsides we saw to this campground were that the WIFI signal was only good at the bathhouse and there is no cable TV. Cell phone reception was fine (Sprint) and the bath house was clean and well lit. Overall we had a good experience here and would consider a return trip in the future. We camped at Endless Caverns Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Luray KOA (formerly Luray RV Resort Country Waye), Luray, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $61.00
Overall Rating:

This was the second time we stayed here and this time we camped for a week. Very clean campground, very well maintained.

I did not have a problem with the WiFi. There was a good signal at our site.

The playground was nice and the grand kids had a great time playing there with other kids in the campground. The pool is very well maintained and appears relatively new.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. We would stay here again. We camped at Luray KOA (formerly Luray RV Resort Country Waye) in a Fifth Wheel.
