Woodland Park Campground, Grand Marais, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

Tent camped here and had to take an "overflow" site. Very busy time of year. We did not have a picnic table but were glad to find a small space for our tent since the park was full. Most of the sites had picnic tables. Best thing, we had a full grass campsite, no dirt, a few trees. No major complaints. The bathrooms close from 9-10am for cleaning, a bit inconvenient closing in the morning. The bathrooms were ok, but the showers are in desperate need of a remodel. They were only adequate for cleanliness. The showers were 50 cents and the water was hot:)

This was the second time I stayed at this campground and the one thing I noticed about my trip overrall is that it has become very crowded at Pictured Rocks in the summer. I would stay here again, but I would try to go earlier in June and hope there is more availability for camping. Another thing, is that most of the activities that we were interested in are located in Munising. We had to drive over there everyday and it takes a good hour on the 2 lane Highway. We camped at Woodland Park Campground in a Tent.

Munising/Pictured Rocks KOA (Wandering Wheels Campground), Munising, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

This was the 4th time I have camped at this site over the last 13 years. I won't stay here again after this last experience.

I tent camped and was offered a choice of 2 sites that were very small with no privacy at all, camping very close to other campers. I went in and asked for a site directly across from the site I was given that was more private and was told they could not allow it to be used until all the other sites were taken. I continued to press for another site and then was told about several others that were open after I was orginally told there were only 2 open. I took a site with electric and water in the back of the park that offered more room and trees between sites, backed to woods.

Cost me $41, which leads me to one of the reasons I won't stay there again, very expensive to pay $39 for a tent site even if it has electric I was not using. Also, if you camp at this campground you will be camping on dirt and gravel. There is virtually no grass at all. There are only 2 showers located in the ladies room. The water was not cold, but barely warm. Overpriced for sure, if you have an RV it might be a better experience. We camped at Munising/Pictured Rocks KOA (Wandering Wheels Campground) in a Tent.

Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping, Mackinaw City, Michigan

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

Tent camped on a more rustic site. Plenty of privacy between sites, trees and shrubs, and grass to place tent on. The water was hot in the showers and free of charge. There is a swimming pool and bikes for rent.

We didn't have a Fire Ring but never asked about it because we were not having a fire. We actually asked for this particular site and was told it was not an available section, but they let us camp there anyway. We were lucky and didn't have any one camping right next to us, so it made it more private.

Overall very satisfied with our experience. I would camp here again next summer. We camped at Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping in a Tent.
