Raton KOA, Raton, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This is the second time we have stayed at this KOA. Great park for an overnight stay. Friendly and helpful service. Easy pull through sites to get in to and out. We didn't need FHU's but they are available. Sites are level. Next trip to Colorado we will stop here again. Call ahead, for they fill up fast. We camped at Raton KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Angel Fire RV Resort, Angel Fire, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We called 6 months in advance to make reservations and discuss what site we should chose with their agent. We decided we wanted a "Mountain View" site. However, when we arrived the worker wanted to give us a "buddy site" instead of what we chose. Everyone knows they can be bad if you don't know the people. The site was also facing the wrong direction. We said we wanted what we had reserved and the young man said there was nothing he could do. We decided not to stay after he told us to turn our trailer around and drag the sewer and water hose under the trailer. We left after that statement. We did get a refund. The supervisor called and ask if we were still coming. Told him we were there the day before & what happened. He did say that should have never happened. He seemed sincere and concerned. However, we will see if we ever return after that treatment by one of their employees. We camped at Angel Fire RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Petit Jean State Park, Morrilton, Arkansas

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Park rangers were extremely friendly & helpful. The park offers a 25% Senior discount, not offered online, but gave it to use when we arrived. Site was clean. Sites are nicely spread out in Loop A but not in the other campgrounds. Never saw the hosts, except when they were sitting outside their trailer. They kept to themselves, would have been nice if they had stopped by as other hosts have at other parks. Power went out and they said they knew nothing. The campers found out who the electric company was and called for information. This should have been their job to keep the park informed, instead of a camper telling them. Great hiking trails. Didn't use the pool for it was closed for the summer. We camped at Petit Jean State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

When we arrived we didn't like how close the sites were located and it was very muddy. We decided not to stay and went elsewhere. Nice location on the water. Owner was very friendly when we spoke with him. We camped at Grumpy Bear RV Park and Campground in a Travel Trailer.

River Country Campground, Gadsden, Alabama

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Very friendly and safe park on the Coosa River. Good security with a gate and security cameras. We were escorted to our site, but it would have been nice if he would have got off his phone to welcome us. Nice walking trail with wooden swings by the river. Nice garden area with a walking path, but kids were using it to race golf carts. Hopefully, manager takes care of this. Nice park for an overnight stay. We camped at River Country Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Only stayed overnight but a great little park. Easy in with wide paved roads and sites. Each site had a picnic table & a wooden raised patio. Friendly and helpful manager. Full time residents have exceptional clean sites. No free WiFi but good cable. Will stay there again when in the area. We camped at TA Travel Center in a Travel Trailer.

Walnut Hills Campground (formerly Staunton / Walnut Hills KOA), Staunton, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

Friendly staff and well kept park. Good cable & the best WiFi we have found at a park. We stayed at a site around the lake. They are nice sites but pretty close. Your neighbor's fire ring is practically behind your rig. Very nice, clean & reasonable laundry facilities. The one thing we didn't like was all the smelly duck poop. It's everywhere around the lake sites. Next time we'll request a site away from the lake. We camped at Walnut Hills Campground (formerly Staunton / Walnut Hills KOA) in a Travel Trailer.

American Heritage RV Park, Williamsburg, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $85.00
Overall Rating:

Great Park! We can highly recommend a premium site. Be aware that all premium sites do not have the tables on the door side. It was nice to have a table with an umbrella and the extra wide site. I did have to wipe the whole table & chairs down before we could use them. Would be nice if they had done this after the winter. The fire pit hadn't been cleaned from the last occupant and it was filled with water. When I asked, they did come right away and take care of it. Now, we did ask to change sites, so maybe this is why the fire pit wasn't cleaned or all the pine needles blown off. They have lots of rules, which keeps the place orderly. If you have a guest come to your site, they charge a $5 entry fee each day. They are not allowed to park at your site, which keeps the park nice, but maybe a long walk to some sites. The front of the park is shady but from about site #100 back there are no trees. Cable was good but the WiFi was terrible. Next time we are in Williamsburg we will stay here again. We camped at American Heritage RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Grand Lake St Marys State Park, Saint Marys, Ohio

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

We were waiting to go to an Airstream rally in Jackson Center, so decided to stay here for the holiday. Good, clean well run park. Even though it was really crowded over Memorial Day weekend there were no problems. We had FHU's with 50amp service. Our site was spacious with lots of green grass. The sites are short and someone with a big rig might have problems. Our 25' Airstream fit right in with little leveling. Enjoyed our weekend at this park. We camped at Grand Lake St Marys State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Oak Creek Campground, Verona, Kentucky

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Unfriendly service! When you check in they take your money & then give you a map and you are on your own to find your site and manage to get backed in. The sites are mostly short and narrow back ins. The sites are narrow that we had to step out into the mud after a rain. Had to pull the truck & trailer out of the site to even get into it without walking through mud. 50 amp service was good. Poor cable & no WiFi service. Site was not mowed and was unkept. Long term renters are located in the back of park. Short term are crowded together in the front of the park. Thankful it was only for 1 night. We camped at Oak Creek Campground in a Travel Trailer.

J.B.'s RV Park & Campground, Benton, Arkansas

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Small campground in a wooded area, run by a very nice man. 9 Long pull through sites with electric & water that are great for an overnight stay. Good 50 amp service. Didn't have cable but we received good local broadcast TV. We had to do a little leveling of our TT. There are long term renters in the back section of the park. Park is rustic and nothing fancy. We'd stay here next time we are passing through the area. We camped at J.B.'s RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Wolf Creek Park, Coldspring, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

We found a lot of trash in the fire pit. The sites were not policed after the last group left. Our neighbor found trash also In his site also. There is no trash can at the dump station, so people threw plastic gloves on the ground along with other trash. Park would be very nice, if it was cleaned up Lady working in office was helpful and friendly. Nice that they pick up your bagged trash daily at your site. Beware! You can't cancel your reservation for any reason. You can reschedule in the same season. We camped at Wolf Creek Park in a Travel Trailer.

Yampa River State Park (Headquarters Campground), Hayden, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Nice small state park with a friendly & helpful staff. Sites are nicely spaced & well cared for. Not much shade but each table has a cover. I would have given them 10 stars but there is a lot of road noise during the day. It quiets down during the night. We camped at Yampa River State Park (Headquarters Campground) in a Travel Trailer.
