Hay Creek Valley Campground, Red Wing, Minnesota

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We had such a strange experience at this campground. We were at site 95, which is a good location but the hookups were on the opposite side. We were then told this was a pull-thru site, but the opposite side was a hill covered in trees! The camp staff never gave us any help - just admitted that it was set up strange. Aside from that challenge, we actually liked this place. They have a nice pool and swing set and the saloon has good food. It does feel like you are a stranger in a small town though, as there are so many permanent sites. The bathrooms are not the best so we used our camper. There are nice bike paths but be warned that there is a fairly busy road that runs through the campground. We camped at Hay Creek Valley Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Mountaindale Cabins & RV Resort, Colorado Springs, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

I would go back to this campground every year if I could! The sites are spacious but tricky to park: the campground crew was incredibly helpful. There is not a lot of activities for kids, but we spent a lot of time doing local activities. The grounds are all rock, which isn't the greatest for bike riding. This is a great place for a quiet getaway and relaxing. We saw lots of hummingbirds and the setting is beautiful. We camped at Mountaindale Cabins & RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

This is a great location for activities in both Colorado Springs and Pueblo. If you have pets, consider bringing a sizable rug as the rock is hard on them for a long period of time.

Michigan City Campground, Michigan City, Indiana

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed overnight at this campground while driving through Indiana. We stayed on a Saturday night and it was quite busy. There seemed to be people, cars, and campers everywhere. The pull-thru was fine for the night, but too close in proximity for longer than that. They have other sites that are more spacious. This is not a quiet get-away type of place. It is more suitable for hanging out with friends and letting the kids play. We camped at Michigan City Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Country Oaks Campground, Dorothy, New Jersey

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed 6 days in the nice pull-thru sites in the front of the park, in close proximity to the playground and pool, which was great for families with kids. The laundry was also nearby, and it was clean and well-maintained. The camp store is small but well-stocked. There is a nice game room, which thankfully our kids did not learn about until the last day: instead they spent lots of time biking and playing.

There are a lot of permanent sites and regulars, therefore is quite busy and a little rowdy on the weekend. Our biggest issue was with the bathrooms, which they desperately need to update. The showers have a push-button style that is awkward and they really need to put a screen door on the bathrooms! We avoided the bathrooms as much as possible and used our camper instead, which was usual for us. We camped at Country Oaks Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Bring a screen tent as there are a lot of flies. Plan to swim as the pool is huge and well maintained.
