Albuquerque Central KOA, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $58.00
Overall Rating:

This is an easy stop off of I40. We've stayed here a couple of times and will likely stay here again during our westward travels. We get a deluxe to accommodate our 5th wheel and both vehicles. There's a fire ring and picnic table at the site. The deluxe sites aren't overly spaciaous but suffice. Although the neighborhood is somewhat sketchy the KOA is clean and secure (they have a security guard at night). It's a busy KOA even during "off-season" so you may want to call ahead. We camped at Albuquerque Central KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Majestic Pines RV Resort, Willis, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

While the sites were a little too close together the place was immaculate. FHU pull-thru with plenty of room to park. Some toad noise from I45 but not horrible. We made a reservation over the phone. Our receipt and reservation info (including site # and gate code) were promptly emailed to us. They have WiFi but I didn't receive the code and didn't bother with it since we only stayed one night. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Majestic Pines RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

High View Campground / Bardwell Lake COE, Ennis, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great little COE. We had a back in site on the water that accommodated our 41ft 5th wheel, truck and a small SUV. Electric and water services were fine. No sewer connections but. It a big deal for a short stay. It's about 10 minutes or less off of I45. Very quite. We camped at High View Campground / Bardwell Lake COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Ole Towne Cotton Gin RV Park, Quanah, Texas

Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is a gem of a park off of 287 between Witchita Falls and Amarillo. The new owner is super friendly. The pull through sites are long and level. We didn't have to disconnect and we had plenty of room for our additional vehicle. Power was fine and water pressure was adequate. The sewer connection is in the middle of the site. Right where I needed it. There is a cell phone tower in the field next to the park resulting in a great AT&T LTE signal. The cable was being worked on so we didn't try that. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Ole Towne Cotton Gin RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Imagination Mountain Camp-Resort (formerly Great Smoky Jellystone Camp, Cosby, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $71.00
Overall Rating:

Absolutely spectacular resort. Our site (most do) backed up to a stream. There is a lot for the kids to do including s game room karaoke, mini golf, and playground. It is expensive but we felt we got what we paid for. One of the best RV parks we've stayed in. The owner is great. The scenery is great. Can't say enough good things about this place. Already booked again for next fall. We camped at Imagination Mountain Camp-Resort (formerly Great Smoky Jellystone Camp in a Fifth Wheel.

Try out the Magnolia Tree restaurant. It's a tenth of a mile from the resort. They have specials every day. We went a couple of times. Also, there is excellent hiking from the Cosby Campground. About 5 miles from the resort.

Sallisaw / Fort Smith West KOA, Sallisaw, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Nice KOA off of I40. Far enough off the interstate that noise wasn't an issue. Sewer and water was fine. Surge protector showed a ground issue and I was told that all pedestals show this issue when the park is full (which it was). When confirmed this. Owner was working to have it corrected. Sites were on the short side and there are trees to contend with. Overall a nice place to stay for a night or two. We would return if ever in the area. We camped at Sallisaw / Fort Smith West KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Hot Springs National Park KOA, Hot Springs, Arkansas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

A really nice KOA. It's a wooded park with undulating terrain. Our site was level and the other sites appeared to be level as well. There is a shuttle b/t the KOA and downtown for $5 a person. Most of the staff was super friendly. Good power, adequate water pressure, and very good AT&T signal. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Hot Springs National Park KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Amarillo KOA, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

This KOA is good for an overnight stop. Level grass/gravel sites. The interior roads need some work as there was standing water in many areas, which led to mosquitoes swarming around our RV. It is Amarillo so expect the smell of cow dung and some flies. There were some permanent residents and while their sites were clean there were a couple of the trailers that looked like they were about to disintegrate. The staff we encountered were all very friendly. Good power and adequate water pressure. We camped at Amarillo KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Chelan County Expo Center, Cashmere, Washington

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

We decided to stay here to save a little $...and we didn't have many options. The KOA in Leavenworth wanted crazy money and some of the other nicer campgrounds were full. It's basically a big field, which we knew before we got there. No frills, but the best wifi of any park we've visited as we were able to stream Netflix. There are some full time residents that were a little messy. There is no shade and it was unusually hot (90+). I would stay here again but only as a last resort. We camped at Chelan County Expo Center in a Fifth Wheel.

Oasis RV Resort, Amarillo, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

We were headed to another park in town but decided to stop in here instead. Glad we did! GREAT park with paved roads and pads. Super clean and quiet. About half a mile off of I-40 but we didn't notice any noise. The cable channels were a little fuzzy so we used our antenna to watch that big football game. HD signal worked great. We will definitely stay here again. We camped at Oasis RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

USA RV Park, Gallup, New Mexico

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here in December on our way to Utah from Texas and again in February on our way back to Texas. The park is about a 1.2 miles off of I40. Friendly staff and laid out nicely. They have heat tape on their spigots and exposed water pipes as it gets cold here. The only downside are the trains and planes. The airport is basically next door so you get some noise during the landings. Train tracks run behind the park. It really wasn't bad and certainly didn't keep us from getting a good nights sleep. They do treat veterans very nice here as current military stay free and former military receive a steep discount. We camped at USA RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Las Vegas KOA at Sam's Town (formerly Sam's Town Casino & RV Park) , Las Vegas, Nevada

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

This park is really nothing more than a slightly manicured parking lot. It's ok as a base camp for Vegas. The check in was smooth and the staff were nice. It's about a 1/4 mile walk to the Sam's Town casino, movie theater, bowling ally and restaurants. There is very little space between your neighbors and you. You'll also get to enjoy a "celebration" of police sirens all day and night. We likely would not stay here again. We camped at Las Vegas KOA at Sam's Town (formerly Sam's Town Casino & RV Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Park City RV Resort, Park City, Utah

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

We enjoyed our month stay here. Nightly rate is based on monthly rate + electric. The park is partially open in the winter and we had a great FHU/50AMP back in site. It's convenient to Park City, The Canyons, and Salt Lake City. The only real inconvenience is that they don't have propane onsite. You have to drive a few miles down the road to refil tanks or have an account with AmeriGas. An AmeriGas truck would stop in weekly to refill tanks (again...you have to have an account). We've already booked here again for next winter. We camped at Park City RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Sun Resorts RV Park, Mesquite, Nevada

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Loved this park. We stayed overnight on our way from Park City to Vegas. Extremely clean grounds, level gravel sites, and friendly camp hosts. There is a gate from the park to Smith's grocery store. There was also a mobile RV wash service that we used. Landry room was clean and convenient. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Sun Resorts RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Sully Creek State Park, Medora, North Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at Sully Creek State Park based on the "Excellent" reviews. We registered and paid for 2 nights, but only made it through one night before we relocated. The ambiance of the park is just okay. No real enduring factors.

Issue 1: There is a sign posted when entering the park about driving slow due to the dust. This was certainly not obeyed. Issue 2: The site across from us ran their generator all night (I know this isn't necessarily the park's fault, but the host should enforce the rules). Issue 3: its a fairly rough road to get down into the park. Issue 4: you're basically setup in an open field with no shade (there are some shaded sites, but bigger rigs don't fit). Just wasn't our cup of tea so we relocated to an RV park in town. We camped at Sully Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Definitely attend the Medora Musical. It was awesome. The pizza place downtown (can't remember the name, but it's next to the musical's ticket office) was excellent.
