Byrd's Branch Campground, Elkin, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for one night on our way up to NYS and liked it enough to stay again on our way back home. Campground is quiet, clean and not far from I-77 (but far enough so no highway noise). Easy in and out. Owners are very friendly and helpful. Our site #11 was level up by the power post, with gravel which was good in the rain we had - no water or mud problems. Full hookups. We had 28' Airstream with F250 long-bed and didn't have to unhook. Campground is small, so good to check ahead on availability. Sites vary from tent sites to partial hookups to full hookups. Some are shady and back up to pretty stream. Ours was more open (good for those with satellite) although there are young trees planted on that area, so will be even nicer when they grow. We called ahead, and the owner told us to go directly to our site and they would come down (office is across the street) and check us in. Nice! Trash is simple - leave your bag by your site in the morn and they pick it up - I liked not having to trek to a dumpster. :-) We camped at Byrd's Branch Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Little Cedar Creek Campgrounds and Cabins, Ridgeway, South Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed 1 night on the way back home to GA, called while on I-77 about 2 hours from the campground and got the last available site. Pull-through site, water/sewer/elec. Managers extremely helpful and nice. Note this park only takes cash or check, no credit. Nice relatively short hiking trail goes past first campground pond, through the woods and comes out at a second pond in a small field.

Very clean, quiet campground, no Wi-Fi or cable; Verizon signal excellent. Most sites have long-term occupants. We camped at Little Cedar Creek Campgrounds and Cabins in a Travel Trailer.

GrandView CampResort & Cottages, Moodus, Connecticut

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

The owners were extremely helpful and friendly - The husband was mowing when we pulled up to our site, and he stopped and came over to see if he could help. Site and roads are grass/dirt. Our back-in site on row E had water/electric, was level side-to-side, and had a great view. WiFi worked even though we were a good distance from the office. Verizon was good as well. Pool crystal clear; restrooms spotless.

The Owners gave us lots of advice on where to go sightseeing, and even before our trip they made sure to warn us not to follow the GPS, and gave us the best route there when towing a camper.

Price compared to other RV parks and state parks in CT was very reasonable. We camped at GrandView CampResort & Cottages in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Mystic Seaport is about a 45-minute drive. The Submarine museum is slightly closer, on the way to Mystic. Gillette Castle State Park is definitely worth seeing, about a 10-minute drive down the road.
