Oceanside Beachfront RV Resort, Coos Bay, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This absolutely rates in the top 3 parks, in our experience. Park ownership changed between the time we made our reservation and our visit. The new owners, Sun Communities, will no doubt make lots of improvements in the next year or two. We found the new management team to be wonderful, and very accommodating. This is a park that is all about location. The beach is steps away through the dunes. The beach is beautiful, and varies in width, depending on the high and low tides. The beach width can vary by 100 yards. There are several rocky outcrops that expose tidal pools at low tide. Many times we were the only people on the beach. There are tents sites that are literally on the beach. Oceanside is situated in between two state parks, and just a mile or so from Shore Acres State Park and gardens. Charleston, and several restaurants is less than 5 minutes away. Coos Bay with Walmart, Fred Meyers (Kroger), and Safeway, are all 15 to 20 minutes away. We stayed for about 3 weeks and saw empty sites during mid-week, and every site filled on weekends. There were many groups during that time, and while some liked to party, we saw no groups who were too loud or obnoxious. We are anxiously looking forward to another visit. We camped at Oceanside Beachfront RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Columbia Riverfront RV Park, Woodland, Washington

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

I read all of the bad reviews, which appeared generally to be 3 to 10 years old. My experience was different. I left a phone message and received a return call within a few hours by the owner. She had me bring up the website map, and walked me thru the sites that were available. We picked one and I was quoted the price, minus tax. When I arrived several months later, the first thing the check-in person did was to ask if I had AAA or Good Sam. She asked to see my card, and the original quoted price was reduced by 10%. Our space was nice, level stone. The stone was a good size; not too big to interfere with your walking on it, and not so small to get stuck in your tire treads. The park is beautifully maintained. Two grassy areas near the office are off limits to pets. However, pets are allowed on the grassy area along the river, which is larger than two football fields. It is open in the middle and has large trees at either end. There is a sandy beach at the river's edge, but swimming is not recommended. A park employee stopped by and warned me about the Sheriff's Dept writing "Fire Lane" tickets if any part of your vehicle sticks out over the asphalt driveways. There was no fire lane signage so I was skeptical, but it was easy enough to pull my truck completely off the asphalt on to the level rock site. I can't tell you how often I've had trouble backing into a site because someone's vehicle is parked stick beyond there site. I had a dedicated electrical pedestal. But I did notice that some motorhomes drove straight into "back-in" sites (I guess to take advantage of the river view). This would put their hookups on the wrong side. There are a lot of written rules, but none of them seemed to affect me. I'm not sure what the local attractions are, but I'd return just to sit and watch the river flow by. We camped at Columbia Riverfront RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Sunrise Resorts-Copalis Beach Park, Copalis Beach, Washington

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

For me, this resort is all about location. It's located against the dunes, bordering the beach. There is a well-defined path leading from the corner of the resort to the beach. It is about 1000 feet to the beach. The beach is very wide, especially at low tide. Most days you may be the only ones on the beach. We were here in August, and most days were cloudy and misty in the morning and evenings. This is not a beach for getting a tan. The temperatures were consistently in the Mid 60's during the day and the high 50's overnight. The water temp was 60. The resort itself is plain. The sites are gravel and level. None of the sites have trees or shrubs. However, many sites can see over top of the dunes to the ocean, when you are in your RV. Power, water, and sewer are all good. There is a small grassy playground area, which was very popular with children on the weekends. Most nights deer would wander around the resort. They became so common that after a while we stopped pointing them out. There is a nice little grocery store across the road. It's great for a gallon on milk, superb vegetables, and snacks. Less than a block down the road is the Green Lantern Bar and Grill, serving good food. A short 10-minute drive takes you into Ocean Shores with lots of restaurants, a grocery store, and nice shops. 30 minutes away is Aberdeen and a Walmart. We camped at Sunrise Resorts-Copalis Beach Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Jantzen Beach RV Park, Portland, Oregon

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice park with a mixture of long-term residents and short-term guests. We stayed for a month and after submitting to a background check, we received a great monthly rate. We found the only real drawback to this location is that it's an island. The only way on and off the island is to use I-5. Leaving the island isn't too bad, but if you try to return during the afternoon rush hours, be patient. You can reach the light rail "Park and Ride" lot in about 5 minutes, and then take the train in to Portland, or any other destination around the city. It's very convenient. We found the park to be generally clean, and well maintained. The staff and most residents were friendly and helpful. We camped at Jantzen Beach RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Vineyard RV Park, Vacaville, California

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $75.00
Overall Rating:

What a nice park. Green with trees, flowers and shrubs. Plenty of space to walk, two nice pools, an exercise room. The park is just a few minutes from Vacaville, with loads of shopping and restaurants. It's about an hours drive from San Francisco. There is a nice mix of short and long term residents. We stayed for four nights. This is our third stay while visiting relatives in SF. Great staff. We camped at Vineyard RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Williams / Exit 167 / Circle Pines KOA, Williams, Arizona

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This was our fourth monthly stay at this park. We stayed from May through June. New management has continued upgrading the sites and amenities. Most sites are under the pine trees. The only issue we had was dripping sap from all the pines. I guess every slice of paradise has at least one issue. The staff are helpful and friendly. They now have a huge "bouncy thing". Our granddaughter and most other kids couldn't jump up and down on it enough! We camped at Williams / Exit 167 / Circle Pines KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Yellowstone Golf Resort, Ashton, Idaho

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

This might be my favorite RV park yet. Most sites are nestled in a picturesque Aspen forest. Many sites are hidden from their neighbors by the trees. This morning a doe and two fawns wondered thru our site. Weekdays the park is mostly deserted; and even when it fills up on weekends, it remains quiet and peaceful. They have a par 3 golf course, which is seldom crowded, so you're not rushed from hole to hole. There is no WiFi, but we had excellent AT&T and Verizon service. We had no problem streaming Netflix. There are no street lights in the park. Night is pitch black unless the moon is out. The stars are magnificent. Yellowstone Park is an hour away. There is a Walmart 30 minutes South in Rexburg. The new owners are working hard to make this a great RV park. It is now called the Yellowstone Golf and RV Resort. We hope to be back many times. All sites either had a fire ring, or cinder block fireplaces. We camped at Yellowstone Golf Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Hidden Valley RV Resort, Tijeras, New Mexico

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for 6 days while visiting friends in Albuquerque. The park is on a hill and the sites are level, but narrow. Water, electric and sewer all were fine. About a third of the park appears to be long term residents. There is a nice pool and club house with a couple of treadmills. The park needs a little TLC, but is still a good place to stop for a few days. We camped at Hidden Valley RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Hidden Valley is a good name. The driveway to the park is next to a convenience gas station. You drive around and behind the station and up a steep driveway before descending into the "hidden valley". Other than the convenience store, Albuquerque is 10 miles west and has any shopping you need.

Riverview RV Park & Campground, Loveland, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice RV park, situated along the Big Thompson river. There are many sites that back right up to the river bank. They have a nice park with swings and a jungle gym; plus ample grass to throw a football and play volleyball. There is usually weekend entertainment in the pavilion. The dog run is a good size and grassy. There is a nice walking trail that borders the park and follows the river. There are long term residents in the park. The free WiFi service from Tengo was so-so. AT&T had some cell service, but there was no data service. Verizon had cell service and occasional data service. We normally had to drive 3 or 4 miles into Loveland for cellular data service. We camped at Riverview RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Dakota Ridge RV Park, Golden, Colorado

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park, on hilly terrain, but the sites are level. Each site had a small patch of grass and picnic table. There are trees throughout the park, and a nice pool. Water, electric and sewer were all fine. I would certainly return the next time I'm in the area. We camped at Dakota Ridge RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Williams / Exit 167 / Circle Pines KOA, Williams, Arizona

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This was our second time at Circle Pines. The owners are wonderful people and their staff are amazing. They all try very hard to make your stay nice. All the sites are located in the pine trees, and most, but not all have gaps for satellite reception. The park cable and WiFi work fine. AT&T and Verizon service, both cellular and data are excellent. There is a seasonal restaurant with simple, but tasty food (burgers, pizza, breakfast, and ribeye steaks). They have three nice fenced dog runs. There are two playgrounds for the kids, plus an indoor pool, and Go Kart Track. Williams is nice little tourist town with many good restaurants, and shops. We camped at Williams / Exit 167 / Circle Pines KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

If you need work done while at Circle Pines, we used A1 Mobile RV Service, John McKnight; to install a second A/C unit and fix a few other items. He was very knowledgeable and we were happy with his work. The office can give you his card and phone number. Bearizona, a drive-thru wildlife park and zoo, is must see while you are there.
