Table Rock Lake State Park, Branson, Missouri

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

A really nice state park. I have stayed here before. All services (electric, water and sewer) are first rate. Was very hot, 90+ and 50 amp power never dropped below 121 volts even when every site was full. Water pressure was 45psi, and sewer was fine. Television is a little limited using over the air, but satisfactory. The staff and rangers were very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Most of the larger sites at Campground 2 are level, Campground 1 not so much. Lastly, this seems to be a tent camping mecca. Lots of tent campers and very well set up. This campground is always my first choice when I come to Branson. Only negative I can think of is that the picnic tables need new 2x6 boards. They have aged out. We camped at Table Rock Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Best dining in Branson is at College of the Ozarks, Ketter Center, but need reservations. All the beef, lamb and pork are grown at the college. Home made ice cream, and all the grains are milled at the college so breads are fantastic. Great experience and service (students) is excellent. Price is very reasonable.

Catherine's Landing, Hot Springs, Arkansas

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

A really terrific campground, very well laid out and maintained. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We were here with about 60 other units and the Campground handled everything very efficiently. Water pressure was find, 15, 30 & 50 amp electrical was fine, and sewer was slightly uphill but not an issue. The site had a level concrete pad with table, grill and fire pit. We had a back in site that was very easy to get into and nothing close to be in the way. The roads in the campground are all paved and easy to navigate. Hot Springs has a lot of road construction so the directions provided by the Campground website would not work. GPS is often wrong in Hot Springs so we got lost. Did find a 10'3" railroad bridge in our way. I suggest you call and get verbal directions or use phone GPS. Nature trail is nice, Yurt area well done, and Tent Camping had wood floor/bases. They are adding another 100 spaces to this campground. We camped at Catherine's Landing in a Fifth Wheel.

Petit Jean State Park, Morrilton, Arkansas

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

A beautiful state park. My site was in Campground A, site 22. Terrific lake and forest views. The park itself has many attractions including hiking trails from strenuous to easy. The lake has several types of fish including Crappie(Good eating). Went to a large waterfall today pouring water into a huge grotto, was a spectacular hike. The lodge is a CCC style building with a terrific restaurant. Breakfast, lunch and dinner reasonably priced in a great setting. The park employees are helpful and courteous. My site was FHU and everything was working exactly as it should. Water pressure at 50 psi, 121 volt 50 amp service with no issues. We camped at Petit Jean State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Frog Hollow Campground RV Park, Grenada, Mississippi

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived at 7:15 p.m. on a Sunday night, and the owners were there to greet us. They theoretically close the office at 7:30, but I bet they will always greet Campers. Small but very nice park. Electricity (50 amp), water and sewer were all first rate. It had been raining for several days in a row, so some of the turf was torn up, but the gravel roads and sites were all in very good shape. Is halfway between Memphis and Jackson, fairly close to Oxford and right off 55. Easy on and off, with a little traffic noise, but not bad. Would clearly stay there again if I was traveling through. We camped at Frog Hollow Campground RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Meaher State Park, Spanish Fort, Alabama

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Really nice small State Park, right on the water. Four inches of rain yesterday so some of the grounds were flooded, but none of the sites or roads. Very nice large sites with full hooks ups. Sites really easy to back into, and almost level. Plenty of room and the park is very nice. Grounds are well kept, the staff very nice, and there is a locked front gate at night with an access code. Only negative is the WIFI is VERY slow -- .1 MPS down. Verizon is fairly good here for the hotspot is fine. TV OTA is ok. 16-25 stations depending on where the antenna is pointing. Most signals are good-weak. They do warn about ants, so bring Boric acid to spread around the parts of your coach that touch the ground. Interior roads are excellent, big units will have no issues here. We camped at Meaher State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tombigbee State Park, Tupelo, Mississippi

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

We were just traveling through and stopped during a horrible rain period. Rain didn't stop for two days and most of the campground had water puddle over the grass and leaves. The park employees were terrific when we checked in, and the office is worth a visit. The campsite was excellent, good water and mine was 30 amp, but they do have some with 50. We didn't have sewer, but some sites do. Very pretty area, wish we could have enjoyed it, but too much rain. Tupelo is a really nice city to visit. Some good restaurants and music. We camped at Tombigbee State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Lots of things to do in Tupelo. Elvis's birthplace was ok, but $14 just to see the house which is 400 square feet is pretty steep. Stables Restaurant is a nice bar/restaurant is you like loud, but friendly. We then went to Vanelli's Bistro is very informal and the food is terrific. Even brought out soup complementary. Voz is the owner and is a real character, you'll enjoy meeting him. Jerry Garcia type and was musician in the early 70's.

Branson KOA, Branson, Missouri

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

A very nice KOA with extremely helpful staff. Free pancakes for breakfast, very helpful and knowledgeable about the Branson area. Cable TV was excellent, water pressure 40 psi, good electrical and sewer. WIFI was fairly weak, sites very small and not very level. My 6 pt levelers lifted one side of tires off the ground. Barely long enough site for my towing vehicle, and sites are very close to each other. That said, it is a great location and I'd stay here again if in the area. We camped at Branson KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

For a really nice dinner, go to College of the Ozarks, food is mostly raised by the students, dinner is exquisite with a piano player -- about $50 for two before the tip. Branson has excellent shopping, fun entertainment and lots of places to dine. Most places are fairly good, but only a few are excellent.

Denton Ferry RV Park & Resort, Cotter, Arkansas

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice basic campground. Clean, good WIFI, basic utilities, although no TV over the air. Nicely landscaped and taken care of. Right on the White River so very scenic, and nicely laid out. All the sites are fairly level and have plenty of room for your rig plus. There are several shared fire rings, lots of tables, and the people who work here are very helpful and friendly. Cotter is a very small community, as is Gassville, next door, but both have adequate cafes, and small grocery shopping. For anything major, Mountain Home is only 10 miles away. There is a large RV Center three or four miles from the park. This is a very nice park, especially if you want to fish (either drift or fly fishing is great) We camped at Denton Ferry RV Park & Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Cotter claims to be the Trout Capital of the US, they stock the White River with 200,000 Rainbow each month. Gassville 3 miles away has Nima's Pizza. Nima's has won national and international awards for pizza. A must if you are a pizza eater. They have a small bakery section too. Great BBQ places in Gassville, Yellville, and Mountain Home.

Bull Shoals - White River State Park, Bull Shoals, Arkansas

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Rarely give a 10, but this place is great. Exquisite views on the White River, the park itself is beautiful and the sites are roomy (Unless you are on a site that backs up to the River). Park Rangers are informative, and the boat dock here is terrific. Only negative, if you want one, is the Boat dock has the only WIFI. I brought my own hotspot, so it doesn't matter. TV over the air is fine, several channels from Springfield, MO, and one from Little Rock. Site is level, water at 50PSI, and electricity is good. Can use 50, 30, or 20 amp. Got here during the rain, and site was a little muddy, but hey, this is Arkansas. We camped at Bull Shoals - White River State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Bull Shoals have basic shopping. Lake View nearby is very limited, and Mountain Home 15 miles away had almost anything you might need. White River is stocked with 200,000 rainbows every month of the year. Flow is regulated at the damn, and can fluctuate widely. Need to be cautious at the river current is swift.

Crowley's Ridge State Park, Paragould, Arkansas

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful state park. Camping area is small, and many of the sites are far from level both front to back, and side to side. There are no sewers, which is common in our parks, but the dump site is clean, and very well laid out. Electrical hookup and water were both very good. The restroom, showers, and entire area is very well maintained. The interior road is narrow, and there is a small turn around at the end of the road. I had to back and forth 3 times with only a 27 foot trailer. Some sites are very roomy, others are very close. I had to ask my neighbor to move his truck to get into my site. #12. With all those qualifiers, it is a beautiful setting, wildlife abundant, and very fresh and clean. We camped at Crowley's Ridge State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Ol' Macdonald's Farm, Savannah, Missouri

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Very difficult to stay here. It is poorly marked, never did find the restroom or the office. The sites are newly graveled, so the trailer left ruts backing in. Need 50+ feet of water hose, and same may be true for electrical. Sharing pedestal for electric and one water post per two trailers. Some don't have splitters for the water. It looks like they are adding a pool, and this could be a really great place, but right now it is very difficult to stay here. We camped at Ol' Macdonald's Farm in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

A nice KOA near the Missouri Rive. I was just driving through and wanted one night in this area. State Parks required two nights, and I was able to get in here. People at the store/desk are very helpful, the site is FHU and everything is as it should be. The interior roads are fine and easy to navigate. The park is clean and attractive. Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

An exquisite little resort. The setting is magnificent, the staff very helpful. Restrooms and showers are cleaner than home (in a log house that smells so good). Only 8 sites and one pull-through, but this place is a real gem. If you are in the Custer area, don't miss this one. Does not have a pool. but cool enough here, I didn't need one. Sand Hollow State Park, Hurricane, Utah

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

The Park itself is very nice. There is a warning at the lake about "Swimmers Itch" being present in the water. When I got to my site, my EMS indicated reversed polarity so I went to the office. Was told that it was ok, there is no positive or negative wiring in the park. Checked other sites, reverse polarity there too. Not one other camper had EMS. Was 106 outside so I plugged in. The State of Utah needs to fix this issue. Nice people in the office. The site was level and spacious, although there is no shade in the desert.
