Fries New River Trail RV Park, Fries, Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is lovely, clean, quiet and well kept. The owner goes the extra mile to make you feel welcome. He even helped us set up and arrived at 6:30 AM to help us hook back up when we left as he knew we were not very familiar with the process.

The two private baths are spacious and spotless. The fact that the campground is in the "holler" seems to keep it a bit cooler than the surrounding area in the summer.

We loved the campground, Fries, the New River Trail and the old time music. A great place to get away from the rat race!

Note: If you stay in site #7 it is like having your own private restroom/shower. We camped at Fries New River Trail RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a great little deli just out of town at the bridge which has quite an extensive menu, great prices and fun people. We liked it better than the cafe in town.

Sharing the building with the deli is a bike/kayak/tube rental place that we rented kayaks from. They also sell fishing licenses.

James Island County Park, Charleston, South Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice campground with spacious sites located within a large county park that offers many activities. A water park operates in the summer for a fee. The kiddie splash fountain is free and offers a longer season. There is a playground, fishing pier and miles of bike trails. Downtown Charleston is a short drive across the Ashley River. Shuttle service to the visitor center is available for a fee. Your campground fee also gets you a pass into other Charleston county parks. Note that tax added $6 per night to our stay, for a total of $50/night. We camped with our granddaughter who had recently turned two: great fun. We camped at James Island County Park in a Travel Trailer.
