Houston East RV Resort, Baytown, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

About 99% live in, but the cleanest, most well kept we've seen for mostly live-ins. Used to be a KOA, redone nicely, with friendly, helpful staff. Big pull throughs, with shade trees easily accommodated our 5th wheel. Great, convient overnight spot for travelers. We camped at Houston East RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Dixie Caverns Campground, Salem, Virginia

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Small park adjacent to Roanoke, the Blue Ridge Parkway, I-81 and their own Caverns. Restrooms looked old, I didn't use them. Full hook-ups available with fairly level pull through sites available for big rigs. They fill up so it might be good to call ahead.

Sites have grass between, picnic tables and fire rings. Tent sites around the perimeter. Lots of garbage cans around so not a problem to dump your own. Dog friendly. We camped at Dixie Caverns Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Adventure Bound Camping Resorts (formerly Duncan's), Lothian, Maryland

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $66.00
Overall Rating:

This is now an Adventure Bound RV Park and I thought they deserved a better review. The park is centrally located between Washington, D.C. and Annapolis, MD. It is a large park of pull through sites with full hookups for RV's, in addition there are cabins and tent sites and it appeared that they are trying to bring it back. There are quite a few full timers, but the travelers are in a different area. Sites are large and graveled, mostly level, with grass in between, picnic tables and fire rings. They have a lot of activities for kids, pool and dog run. Several laundry, bathroom and shower facilities as well as a store are on site. They could accommodate some of the largest rigs I've seen, but the trees can be a little close in some sites. Our cable went out, but I'm not sure that was their problem. Antennas work well there, trees might make it difficult for satellite in most sites. We camped at Adventure Bound Camping Resorts (formerly Duncan's) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Fastest route to Annapolis is to take Rt. 2 after the roundabout in Lothian rather than the freeways. Nice drive through farms.

Woodland Park Inc., Ebensburg, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

We needed to stay near Johnstown and this was the closest. Not your average park for travelers. Most are setup as seasonal trailers and tents for family getaways in a heavily wooded campground. The regulars are friendly and they had a lot going on for kids on the weekend and several play areas. The park itself is very run down and bathrooms, laundry, etc. in poor repair. There are a few pull through sites for overnighters. Some roads are paved, some sites are graveled, some are overgrown grass. That said, we enjoyed being in the cool woods and the feeling of camping. We camped at Woodland Park Inc. in a Fifth Wheel.

Baylor Beach Park, Navarre, Ohio

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We picked up our new 5th wheel nearby and they gave us a huge pull through site so that we had room for our rig, truck and U-Haul. We stayed for 3 days. Sites on the hill (50 and up) are best for big rigs, but all sites are nice, graveled, level with large area of grass in between. The water park and campground close the last week of August which was perfect for us. We rode our bikes all over the farm, ran our dogs and enjoyed the company of only a few other rigs. All buildings and grounds were clean and well kept. It is on the edge of the Amish country so be careful to share the road with the carriages and people walking. We camped at Baylor Beach Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Multiple Amish towns and farms nearby. The football hall of fame is 30 minutes away. Shopping in Masillon 11 miles away. We had to deal with some road closures that made it difficult to find the park from the North, management had maps to help us find our way around it when we left. I would think it gets very busy when the water park is open, but would be a paradise for children.
