Lazy Day Campground, Danville, Missouri

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice campground with relatively new and friendly owners. We were escorted to our site by one of the owners in a golf cart. The grounds are well maintained and the sites are reasonably level - although a bit close to your neighbors. Full hookups with a store with lots of campground-themed and crafty items if you're into that. We camped at Lazy Day Campground in a Motorhome.

Singing Hills RV Park & Campground, Cave City, Kentucky

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Bare bones campground with nice owners who live onsite. Business cards were provided to insure 24-hour accessibility in emergencies. Gravel roads and sites can be a bit bumpy. Full hookups with good WiFi and basic cable TV. Needed to use boards to assist hydraulic jacks in leveling our MH. Bathhouse needs an overhaul - very rustic but appeared to be clean. Sites are very tight. Convenient to Mammoth Cave. Business cards were provided to insure 24-hour accessibility in emergencies. We camped at Singing Hills RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Make sure to order your tickets online at least a month or two before visiting Mammoth Cave if you want to take one of the main tours on a weekend. They are sold out at least 2 weeks in advance of the actual tour date. We ended up standing in line for an hour on a Saturday morning to get the Frozen Niagara Tour. This tour has 10 tickets per tour time that are available only on the date of the actual tour - these are sold out by 8:30 AM on the weekends.

Greenbrier Campground (formerly Greenbrier Island), Gatlinburg, Tennessee

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

Grounds are landscaped and well maintained. Showers and laundry facilities are clean. Expansion across the road to add more sites. They did not honor our Good Sam Discount through the online reservation system and we asked for it again at check in - Still waiting for it to show up on our statement. The bugs were terrible making it virtually impossible to enjoy being outside - Campground manager said to start a fire, but when the temperature is 90 degrees in the shade, not feeling like sitting in the sun next to a fire. We had a pull through site with no shade. We camped at Greenbrier Campground (formerly Greenbrier Island) in a Motorhome.

Lake Powhatan Recreation Area, Asheville, North Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

The roads are narrow and winding into the park with a few low limbs scraping the coach. Easy check-in. Very private spots with dense trees cover making any TV reception impossible. Our site was long and very spacious. We needed to use blocks to get our rig level. The bathrooms and showers were very clean and nice although there were just 2 of each for the loop so sometimes there was a short wait. Our site had full hook-ups so we just used our own facilities. Some of the sites appeared to be smaller, tighter and not as level as ours. We camped at Lake Powhatan Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Tanglewood Park Campground, Clemmons, North Carolina

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

We had full hookups with WiFi and Cable TV. Sites were spacious with easily maneuverable, paved interior roads. At check-in we were greeted at the Welcome Center who then radioed our arrival to the on-duty host. The host met us at the entrance to the campground and escorted to our site and also helped us hook up the cable TV. The campground is clean and appears to be well maintained. Tanglewood Park abuts up to the campground and is heavily used by the general public. We camped at Tanglewood Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Babcock State Park, Clifftop, West Virginia

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful park with large, spacious spots. Park roads are narrow but maneuverable for our 38' MH with tow car. The dump station was a little tricky with several U turns getting into and out of the station. Beautiful and historic sites in the park to see. We camped at Babcock State Park in a Motorhome.

Kentucky Horse Park Campground, Lexington, Kentucky

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

The we site reserved in advance was occupied by a party that refused to move. The staff put us in a different spot that when we stepped out of the MH we would almost end up in the drainage ditch. The park was packed so we were unable to get a different site until the following Monday (we were here for 5 nights). We had to use blocks to get our 38' MH level. The front wheels were off the ground by 4-5 inches. No sewer hookups but there are 4 dump stations. We kept loosing the wifi signal. Be sure you have a pressure regulator for the water as it is very high. No patio and we didn't use our mat because the site was muddy. Traffic through the park was constant. Kids were racing around in golf carts and dogs were allowed to run off leash. Grass hadn't been mowed and was fairly tall. Given the size of the campground, you would think there would be more supervision. Given the number of people using the facilities the restrooms were cleaned early in the mornings but could have used another one in the afternoon. On the positive side, the location was convenient to activities we had planned. The staff tried to accommodate us on our second request to change sites. We camped at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Colter Bay Village RV Park -- Full Hookups (Concessionaire Operated) , Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $68.00
Overall Rating:

On the positive: Campground is conveniently located near the lake and hiking trails. Nice wooded campground. On the negative: Price is reflective of location, not amenities. Spots are close and we found it very difficult to get level. Had to ask a neighboring camper to move his pickup so we could leave on day of departure. No showers in the campground but public showers are located in Colter Bay Village and are $4.50 per person. No Wifi, cell or cable service. Neighbors did not recognize 11:00 pm quite time, but that is not necessarily the park's fault. We camped at Colter Bay Village RV Park -- Full Hookups (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, Lucerne Campground, Manila, Utah

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Views of the lake and mountains were gorgeous. The RV sites are spacious, paved and level. Each space has room for a camper, vehicle and boat. The pad/parking and picnic area for each site is paved. The fire rings and picnic table are cement. The only thing this campground lacks is shade trees. Access to lake could have been much better. Not much in the way of services at the actual campground, but we walked across a field to the marina where there was a store and boat rentals. They charge $6 to dump and the Credit Card Reader was broken. The pronghorn antelope roam freely around the camp. We would camp here again. We camped at Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, Lucerne Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We drove the Sheep Creek Scenic Byway, went to the Red Canyon Visitor's Center & Overlook and took the tour of the Flaming Gorge Dam. Put our kayak in at the dam. During our paddle we saw the Ospreys nesting and feeding their young on the islands near the dam. Wonderful place to visit.

Dead Horse Point State Park, Moab, Utah

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

The park sits on top of a mesa overlooking the Canyon. The views and trails are fabulous. This campground has no water available and very little shade. There are flush toilets and sinks but no showers in the restrooms. No water at the sites or public spigots anywhere to be found. Make sure to fill your water tanks before arriving. Only dumpster is on your way out at the dump station. Many of the sites are sloped requiring extra leveling efforts. Each site had a covered picnic table with food storage. We had a couple of Kitt Foxes spend some time around our camp site.

Make sure to stop at the visitor center and ask about the moonlight hike. We would definitely camp here again. We camped at Dead Horse Point State Park in a Motorhome.

Alpen Rose RV Park, Durango, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Nice and clean park just on the North side of Durango. Staff was great. The site was pretty sloped making getting level difficult. Cable signal was strong - we received about 8 channels. WiFi was only available near the store. All you can eat chuck wagon breakfast was available every morning for $8.95. Large store and cook to order pizzas in the office. One load of laundry (expensive) will run you around $6 to wash and dry. It rained everyday while we were there and although we had really nice shade, the ground was red clay with some gravel. Sites are very cramped - Just barely enough room for our tow vehicle and we shared a picnic table with other campers. We would stay here again. We camped at Alpen Rose RV Park in a Motorhome.
