Glacier Campground, West Glacier, Montana

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice campground very close to the west entrance (about 1 mile) of Glacier NP. Pros: Location. Wooded and shaded sites. Nice campground office with sitting area, TV, books and DVD's to use. Very helpful staff. Cons: Sites are not easy to get in and are not very level. There are hills you have to navigate to almost all the sites. Older campground with old electric grid. We use 30 amp and had low voltage issues while there, going as low as 104 volts. Our Progessive surge protector gave use numerous errors and I finally just unhooked it. We pull a 26 foot trailer and we were lucky enough to get a pull through site, E9. If we would have had a back-in it could have been tricky getting in. If we were to come back again I would insist on a pull through or I probably would not stay. We camped at Glacier Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Glacier Grill and Pizza in nearby Coram had great pizza and local beer. Paved bike path along the main road that runs west to Glacier NP and then East for about 12 miles to Hungry Horse.

A Prairie Breeze RV Park, Menoken, North Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We stopped here for a quick overnight while traveling through. Park is self-service. Very easy to get in and out. Restrooms and laundry area very nice. FHU. Has a lot of seasonals but there were plenty of spaces still open. We would definitely stay here again for an overnight. We camped at A Prairie Breeze RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Moonlight Bay Resort & Campground, Walker, Minnesota

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We made reservations for two nights while on the road only one day in advance. When we got there we realized this is primarily a seasonal park with only about 10 spots for traveling RV'ers. When we booked we were told our space was a pull through. Once we got there and looked over the space we saw there was no way it was a pull through. This is an older very established campground with lots of trees and very narrow roads. We pull a 30 foot trailer and it was not easy getting around. There was no way I was going to try backing my unit into the space. So we asked for a refund and received it without questions, so kudos to them for that. My only complaint was that they weren't more upfront when we booked our reservation. I would not recommend this park for anyone pulling a trailer more than about 20 feet at the most. We camped at Moonlight Bay Resort & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Faribault County Fairgrounds, Blue Earth, Minnesota

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Used this park for a quick overnight stay while traveling. It has 9 RV sites and only three were occupied on a Tuesday night. Easy in and out. Site was fairly level but well kept. Note: At one time the first night was free, this is no longer the case. $20 very reasonable for full hookup. We used it to dump because it was our last night of the trip. Saved me from stopping at a dump site later. Good deal! Nothing fancy but very adequate for a one night stay. We camped at Faribault County Fairgrounds in a Travel Trailer.

Big Pine Campground, Custer, South Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for 5 nights while visiting the Custer area. Could have easily stayed longer as there are many things to see and do in this area. The owners were very friendly and helpful with things to see and do in the area. This campground has a lot of trees and that makes it really nice. You are not sitting out in an open field or lot somewhere. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Big Pine Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Sunrise Campground, Storm Lake, Iowa

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for one night on our way to Custer, SD. Pulled in without a reservation and secured a pull-thru site. On-site managers were very helpful. Campground is gated, so that gives some level of extra security. They have cable TV and I did not have a cable with me, the manager found one and let me use it for free. The sites are pretty close together, but we really didn't care for one night. The location is great, right across from a beautiful lake with a paved walking/bike path. Facilities were very clean. We would stay here again. We camped at Sunrise Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Keyhole State Park, Moorcroft, Wyoming

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for two nights on our way to Yellowstone. We took one of the days to visit Devils Tower, it is only about 30 minutes away. We had reserved in advance. When we arrived at our reserved spot we had problems backing in with our trailer (25 Ft) since the spot was hard to get into and not level at all. So we called back to the office and they allowed us to move to another more level site. The campground was not busy as we were there on a weekday. The office person we talked to seemed a little "put out" about our request, but allowed us to change.

We had a good view of the lake and also spent some time walking and biking around the park. We did not use the lake, but it had a nice marina also. This park has no showers, only composting toilets. There is a dump station at the entrance to the park. We camped at Keyhole State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Fishberry Campground, Valentine, Nebraska

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here on our way to Custer, SD. We had a pull through site, which made pulling in for the evening easy. Park is very clean and well maintained. My wife used the shower and said it was very clean also. There is WIFI but no local TV stations or cable. We would stay here again for an overnight stay. It is somewhat secluded and not close to stores, etc. We camped at Fishberry Campground in a Travel Trailer.
