Medora Campground, Medora, North Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed two nights in Medora to see the musical. Reservation process was good, check in was smooth. Sites are a bit tighter than we prefer, but we had good neighbors so it was no issue. We would stay here again. I rate it as a 9 rather than a 10 just because the sites are a bit tighter than we prefer. *If traveling with dogs, the dog area isn't the best as there is prickly pear cactus in it. Stay at the edge and you won't have an issue. However, the park just down the road on the edge of town allows off leash which gave us a chance to really give the dogs a good run. Just PLEASE, pick up after your "kids". We camped at Medora Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We took our propane fire pit with us so we were able to have a "campfire" at our site. Really made the evening enjoyable to sit by a fire.

Jones High Country RV, Nephi, Utah

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Wifi signal is strong, clean park, very clean bath/shower house. Shower stalls are VERY tight. Many what appears to be permanent residents, but we have no issue with that. Good overnight spot. Everyone in the park was quite friendly and courteous.

Nephi is a VERY sleepy town, but this park is fine for an overnight. One can't beat the price! Tight spaces is the only reason I don't rate it higher. We camped at Jones High Country RV in a Fifth Wheel.

Red Desert Rose Campground (formerly RV World Campground), Rawlins, Wyoming

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park, excellent dog park, exceptionally clean bath/shower house. Water presure was impeccable. Having mini golf right there was great since we we're traveling with our teenage grandson. The only thing that keeps me from rating this as excellent is the showers are built for someone 5'2" or shorter. Pretty small thing, really. Would definitely stay here again in the future. We camped at Red Desert Rose Campground (formerly RV World Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

Wifi was ok, great at table outside office. End spaces seemed to be a smidge bigger, offering a little more privacy, but very tight to try to get in with our rig.

Tall Pines Campground, Branson, Missouri

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Clean park, lots of trees for excellent shade in the summer, good wind break the rest of the year. Firewood is available at a reasonable rate. Campground is on a ridge, therefore, getting into the site is tight - very doable, just need to be cautious - but our site is quite spacious once getting into it. All campsites are rocked, just needed one board to level the rig out. Owners have been very accommodating to us needing to add on nights waiting for the weather near home to clear up for us to continue North. We camped at Tall Pines Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Because the campground is on a ridge, do not fudge out the length of your rig so you can get a reservation into a site that you will easily get into. If in Branson to see the shows, pick-up tickets at the "Purple House" on Route 76 - the only spot we found that did not require a time share sales pitch.

Though we did not use them, we checked out the showers and restrooms - EMACULATE! Staff was nothing short of Texas hospitable, wonderful to visit with. Great stop over point for us. Appreciated the dog friendly attitude. We camped at Ole Towne Cotton Gin RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Famil-E-Fun Campground and RV Park, Mitchell, South Dakota

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Right off the interstate with lots and lots of big, mature trees throughout the park that create a very quiet, relaxing atmosphere. Pool is open, a little chilly, but open! A small put put, lots of room for the kids to burn off all that energy from traveling. Sights are dirt but very level and very shaded. This is a definite "do over" again spot! We camped at Famil-E-Fun Campground and RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Gunsmoke RV Park, Dodge City, Kansas

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This is a tough one to truly rate. First the good...Spaces were quite large for a private park which was greatly appreciated. Grounds were picked up and tidy, though the dumpster was over flowing. Understandable since it was the owners "2nd day open". We heard this phrase to many times to count while checking in. Sites were easy to pull in to, especially given "2nd day open" and not many campers. Now...I'd read some negative reviews and thought maybe people just weren't having a good day. However, we did not have a reservation, and felt a little as though we were putting the owner out to allow us to check in. The park was nearly empty, and given "2nd day open" we both felt the rate was little high for the shoulder season. Her attitude of telling us EXACTLY how I should park the rig came across condescending and as though she felt we were in 1st grade and she was the teacher giving us precise instruction. Going over "the rules", each instruction was ended with "I don't give warnings, I just give you the boot." Between hearing "2nd day open" and "give you the boot", had our credit card not already been run, we would have simply continued down the road, even if that meant spending the night in a rest stop. Got the feeling the owner doesn't particularly care for people, let alone the dogs they may travel with. There is a "dog walk" space, but zero off leash space. Picnic tables have not been painted in years and all show it. No where did I see a spot for a community campfire, let alone have one in your own space. Over all, the park is a nice park, probably just fine if you don't have animals, but we won't be returning because of owners attitude. We camped at Gunsmoke RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

El Reno West KOA, El Reno, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Campground is clean with very readily available trashcans throughout. We did not use the bath house or laundry so cannot speak to those. There is a pond which one of the cabins appeared to sit right on. Had to look for a staff member both when checking in and out. Many construction workers there long term which I have no issue with. Those I spoke with were friendly and quite nice. It is easily located as it is RIGHT off the highway which gives you a lot of road noise. Spots are very narrow and close together; we had literally a 1/2 inch to spare when we pulled our slide out. I personally would not stay here again just because of all the road noise. We camped at El Reno West KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Goose Island State Park, Rockport, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in the wooded part (30 amp only) and absolutely loved it. Sites were very spacious and campfires are allowed in that area. Shower house is dated, but clean and the water pressure was phenomenal! This is definitely on our return list. Nightly rate does not include the $5/person/day use fee. Texas State park passes available for $70/year up to 15 people in your vehicle. We camped at Goose Island State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Albuquerque North / Bernalillo KOA, Bernalillo, New Mexico

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Dry camped one night as we headed south. Staff was courteous and friendly both on the phone and in person, attendant put extra thought into where she put us so we could easily pull into our site.. Maintenance guy came right to our spot to grab our propane tanks to fill them for us. (Propane charge was very fair....$.05/gal more than what we paid at home.) Desk gal even brought my propane receipt to me in the dog park. Dog park is nice for small dogs, sufficient for my bird dogs - they are used to 5 acres. I was impressed that people were cleaning up after their pets as requested. Shower house is spotless, though the stalls are small. Park is quiet, and their is a brewery just outside of it, though we didn't make it over there. Site was very level, would definitely stay here again and recommend it. We camped at Albuquerque North / Bernalillo KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Colorado Springs KOA, Fountain, Colorado

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We dry camped overnight on our way south arriving after the office closed. Staff was very friendly, courteous and helpful both on the phone and as we checked out. Campground is located right on the river, though levels are very rain dependent. Fire rings are upgraded in each spot. Though there was several inches of snow on the ground, the park seemed very clean and tidy. Shower house was IMMACULATE with LOTS of hot water. Pool is in the process of being completely re-done, a great playground for the kiddos. My only negative is it would have been nice for our camp spot to have been plowed out. It wasn't a huge deal, but would have been a nice touch. For a KOA I thought the spots were spacious. (We normally forest camp so I am used to large spots.) We camped at Colorado Springs KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Pony Soldier RV Park, Lingle, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Excellent base camp spot conveniently located to town of Lingle, town of Guernsey and Ft. Laramie National Park. We didn't make it up to Guernsey State Park so not sure how much farther up there, though I suspect it would convenient to there also.

Park is kept clean, full hook-ups available, some spots had 50 amp available, pretty level spots, good water pressure while we were there, owners go above and beyond to help accommodate. There is no pool, but if you have brought bikes along for the kids, they can certainly burn some energy that way. Community fire pit available when the weather allows (county was on fire ban while we were there.)

Yes, the park is located across the highway from a train crossing, but once we were in our camper for the night we did not hear it at all. Nor did we find it a nuisance while sitting outside visiting. We camped at Pony Soldier RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Buffalo Bill State Park, Cody, Wyoming

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in one of the 'reserveable' spots in the Northfork Campground, river side of the road. Currently no hook-ups on this side of the road, but the uninterrupted view was really great; and with potable water and a dumpsite as you pull into the campground, no hook-ups was not a big deal to us as we are used to dry camping. The upper loop which is right down on the river is better sites as you are down out of the wind, and as I said, right on the river, however, there are more bugs there.

Picnic tables are in all the camp spots along with nice fire rings, shower house had good pressure and lots of hot water. I believe I used 6 quarters to have a great shower.

Downside: You WILL be charged a FULL camping charge if an extra vehicle is in your site over night. No where did anyone in our party see that on the website. Beware so you aren't surprised at the gate as we were. The gentleman running the gate couldn't show us anywhere in the literature where it said that was policy. It took the camp hosts until the following day to find it in the literature.

Camp hosts were very nice, friendly, helpful folks. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
