Reunion Lake RV Resort, Ponchatoula, Louisiana

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for the month of Feb. This is what I call a destination park. Pretty much has it all. Regular pool with water features, Adult pool, largest hot tub I have ever seen, cabanas, lazy river floating water feature, lake for fishing, exercise room, Miniature golf, basketball, tennis, clubhouse with happy hour, golf cart rental. This park is less than 2 years old. It is large and they have a large staff to maintain it. We travel fulltime, traveled 44k miles in the last 18 months and have never seen so much care. Actually saw a fella checking every picnic table for loose screws etc. Everyday a team checked every vacated sight, cleaning firepits, etc. And the sites are huge, compared to any other park we have been in. No full timers allowed. Come Friday nite, even in Feb, they were full. The showers are individual baths inside 2 very nice buildings (one on each side of park) that also house the laundry. This would be my only negative - they could use more laundry facilities. We don't use the showers, but perhaps need more of these too, when they are full capacity. A little pricier than some, but so worth it. There is also a gas station and Sonic right at entrance. The entrance us gated. Access is right off of interstate. We camped at Reunion Lake RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Great for visiting New Orleans and the surrounding area. Necessities are close by, full grocery store about 2 miles, several good dining choices within 10 to 15 miles. Pauls in Ponchatoula is great for breakfast and lunch.

Brazos River RV Park, Waco, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Don't know about summer campers, but in November we were disappointed, to say the least. We had come thru Waco when heading west, so came back thru heading east. COE park was not available. Chose this park because it was on the river and sounded nice. Everything was very rundown. The "clubhouse" was locked. I went into the shower house and was glad I didn't have to use it. Unlike other parks, where we have stayed a week, there were no newcomers and no one leaving. Most are workers, etc, full time on a month to month lease. The residents seem to have a understanding with the owner to park in multiple places, have dog pens, etc. I say it is satisfactory, because the site was plenty big for our 40 ft 5th wheel and truck. It is easy in and out, and all utilities worked fine. We knew it was 12 miles out of town, and if all other things had been as advertised, it would have been good. The property is huge and could be a gorgeous place, if someone wanted to invest the time and money. As it is now, we would not go back. We camped at Brazos River RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Medina Highpoint Resort (Formerly Koyote Ranch), Medina, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

First I will say: This is a beautiful setting and a really nice RV park with good facilities. Our rate was based on a month. It is located about 18 miles south of Kerrville and 8 miles north of Medina.

However, we would suggest not coming in from the north. Pulling your RV down highway 16 rom Kerrville would be a challenge, especially for a big rig. It is one curvy, hilly road! We intentionally went out of our way to come in from the south, and were glad we did. Would go so far as to say, driving thru the Rockies wasn't any worse.

A negative to some/positive for others: no cell service and no Verizon mifi service. The park does have free wifi and it is about the best I have ever found in any rv park. My phone and Consumer Cellular service does not have wifi calling capabilities, which is what is needed for most visitors. We were here a month and found not having cell phone service a little inconvenient. Cable tv was fine.

Another thing that is a neg/pos: those same curvy/hilly roads are loved by motorcyclists. Many stay in the very nice cabins that the park has to rent. Nothing against cyclists, but be ready to hear them coming and going at all hours. They don't think about the "quiet" time of 10pm to 8am.

If not for these 2 things, I would give this park a resounding 10. The staff are super nice. They have a restaurant, the Koyote Grill, which has great burgers and pizza, and on Fridays a fish/chic tender buffet that was excellent. The camp store sells basics.

Roadways in the park are very adequate. The sites are level, long and wide with packed gravel, concrete patios, picnic table, fire-ring. There is parking space for an extra car. Good utility hookups. Great dog area. Beautiful walking/hiking trails and one of the prettiest pool and patio areas I have seen. So, even with the little inconvenience and bike noise, we like this park and would go back. We camped at Medina Highpoint Resort (Formerly Koyote Ranch) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The Apple Shed in Medina has all kinds of baked apple items, great lunch food and the apple ice cream is a must. In Kerrville some of our fave restaurants were Francisco's, Thai Ocho, Popos, Pint and Plow Brewing, Billy Genes, and Soaring Dragon. In Fredricksberg we liked The Rathskellar and Sunset Grill. The LBJ ranch is interesting.

Country Roads Motorhome & RV Park, Lake Delton, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

If visiting Wisconsin Dells, I highly recommend. Very convenient to highway without having highway noise and super easy in and out. We were only here for 2 nights, passing thru the area. But it is very convenient to everything the Dells has to offer. It is a large property with lots of room, and very well kept. We camped at Country Roads Motorhome & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Two Rivers Campground, Nashville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $46.00
Overall Rating:

Great location. Very convenient to Opry and restaurants, etc. Husband thought our back in sight was a little tight. We were lucky, in that the sight directly in front of us was empty, and he pulled in there, and then backed in. But this park is clean, and an exceptionally good value for Nashville. They have very limited pull thru sights, but we would plan our next trip to Nashville based on when they had one available. We camped at Two Rivers Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Raccoon Valley RV Park - Escapees Rainbow Park, Heiskell, Tennessee

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

Very small park outside of Knoxville. Everything worked fine, site was ok for our 40' 5th wheel, but would be tight for big rigs. Laundry was fine, but small. Showers, restrooms were clean and adequate. Not a "destination" park, but ok for short stay or passing thru. Couple of miles off highway - makes it quiet, tho. Staff was nice. Airport Park COE, Waco, Texas

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is based on Senior Park Pass. Gated entry closes at 10pm. Great COE park with a few full hook ups, which is rare. Large gravel pads, pull thru and back ins with gravel area around picnic table and fire-ring. Lots of room between sites. We were in site 15 which is on the water. Being a COE park, there are no commercial facilities on the property. About a 10 minute drive to most services needed. We loved this park. We camped at Airport Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Lebanon / Cincinnati NE KOA, Lebanon, Ohio

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Formerly Cedarbrook, KOA is adding new cabins, premium sites and overall improvements. The turn into the park and the driveway coming in is narrow. But we didn't have any problem with our 40' 5th wheel. We were here the week before Labor day and the park wasn't very busy. We had a pull thru with plenty of space between. The pool was clean and adequate. Laundry was small but very clean. Would stay again. We camped at Lebanon / Cincinnati NE KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Beautiful park, manicured landscaping. Nice pool. At one time, park was set up for buying sites. So there are quite a few owners, which keeps it exceptionally well maintained. Roads, site space, grass, clubhouse, showers are all outstanding. Highly recommend if you are going to be in the Ludington area, stay here. We camped at Vacation Station RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Gold Ranch Casino & RV Resort (formerly Terrible's Gold Ranch Casino), Verdi, Nevada

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Easy in and out from I80. $ based on weekly rate. Paved roads, sites. Grassy area at each site. Pinic table is located on a gravel area at each site. Plenty of room between. We were in site 51, PT FHU, which was extra long for our 40 ft and truck. And the view from this site is gorgeous. Mountains and trees all around. Plenty of full timers here, but everything is well taken care of. No junk. Laundry is in clubhouse with 7 washers and dryers, 1.50 ea. Go sit in lounge area with book, or watch tv. There are also 7 private showers w/sinks/toilets in the clubhouse. Water pressure is great. Cable tv good. Wifi good. Pool was heated and very clean, although small. Horseshoe area, too. Nice pet area and walking trails. We haven't stayed at casino owned rv parks. And some we have seen were like being in their parking lot. Not this one. And we did like the restaurant, which we tried for all 3 meals. Plus there is a coffee shop w/limited, but very good bakery items - a Jack In The Box - a gas station and convenience store. If you want convenience, in a pretty setting, this is it. We camped at Gold Ranch Casino & RV Resort (formerly Terrible's Gold Ranch Casino) in a Fifth Wheel.

Yosemite RV Resort, RVC Outdoor Destination (formerly Yosemite South , Coarsegold, California

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful piece of land. The park meanders down a steep hillside. There are LOTS of older, large trees. RVC bought it from KOA over a year ago. They are in the process of renovating. The main roads are paved. You are led to your site, which is pretty much necessary, due to winding layout. The sites are grass/gravel. Many are very unlevel. We had a VERY difficult time getting level, using all 20 leveling blocks. Neighboring rigs could not get level. Some trees have been removed, but there are still some sites that are challenging for larger rigs. Hookups are to the back, on the side. Need long hoses. Had to increase from 15' to 20' for black tank. Direct tv needs long coax -50'. We have our own wifi, but heard from neighbors the provided didn't work. The pool is new with nice deck and umbrella tables, located at top of hill, by office. Great view for sunrise/sets. Laundry and bath houses are new. They have planned activities - Memorial day weekend had horseshoe games, brought in animals for a petting zoo, bounce house. We were allowed to wash our rv for a $20 fee. They have a ways to go, but this could be a fabulous park if they get the sites paved/leveled out. Based on what accommodations are in the area, we would stay again. We camped at Yosemite RV Resort, RVC Outdoor Destination (formerly Yosemite South in a Fifth Wheel.
