Brazos Valley RV Park, Caldwell, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful park, the sites are spacious, level concrete. Plenty of room for the tow. We are 42 ft and fit comfortably, even a 45 ft would have no problems in the pull throughs. There is a small playground, and pool. The dog walk is central, with small walks on the end of reach leg. More than suffice room to turn a big rig. Trees are short, but only because they were just added. There is a nice rally room with dishes, stove & refer along with utensils. Two restrooms, tables and chairs along with comfy couches for watching tv. There is on site laundry and a game room. Close to a lot of things to see, this is a great park to set up in and sight see from. There is some road noise, and occasional trains. Some mooing cows also. We camped at Brazos Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Take a day trip to Washington on the Brazos in Navasota. So much Texas history! Good B-b-q in Navasota at Mallett brothers. For the ladies, have tea in Caldwell at the Mad Hatter, just off the square.

A Stone's Throw RV Park, Lamont, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

We came, tried space 16 could not level, then tried space 20 again could not level. We are 42 ft plus tow. Very steep front slope on #16 and same on # 20 plus problems side to side on 20. If your coach is self leveling, this probably is not a good spot to stop. The campground looks nice and appears to work if under 40 ft quite well with drop down levelers. Would be a great overnight stop. Sites were 1/4 minus rock that is not real firm on edges. Couple of low trees that could use pruning. We gave up and left after trying twice. We camped at A Stone's Throw RV Park in a Motorhome.

Pleasant Lake RV Resort, Bradenton, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $62.00
Overall Rating:

Office lady was very concerned when she saw our rig. Even looked to see if there was another spot to tuck us in. Had to keep original spot, but it was fine for our 42 ft rig. Could probably hold 45ft. We did back onto fence line and had road noise from Florida rd. 70. Location is not far from I75. But noise seemed to settle down after about 10 pm. Power pedestal was a bit worn, but good power. Good water pressure too. Early morning sunshine and shade would start about 3 pm. Used air for about 3 hrs as coach tends to warm up. Otherwise had windows open till AC kicked on at 79. Lots of permanent homes with RV spaces intermingled. There were some pull-throughs, but really glad we didn't get one. They were full sun. Large square lake in middle with fishing, birds and a gator in 2016. He was removed and none seen this year. Residents are very friendly. Marked gravel, but it was crushed shells. A bit soft, but rig is heavy. Had to be careful backing in due to large power box across street and street sign. Could have used 2 spotters, but made it without a problem. Was able to unhitch prior to site and will be able to hitch tow prior to leaving after pulling out. If in area again will gladly return. We camped at Pleasant Lake RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Ft. Myers / Pine Island KOA, Saint James City, Florida

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $61.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed for 7 nights. Traveling with friends but we were way apart. Spaces were tight and back in. Some park models as encore has joined in. Pad was cement and looked like a jackhammer had been used on it. Each section moved as our coach moved onto it. Fireants were present, had to request staff to take care of. Had a blurb in rules that they do "bite". We have them where we live and they are nasty. Had to throw water hose under coach to attach on passenger side. Neighbor was upset as we hooked up under his party awning, despite it being the only hook up for power available. Road in front was main through fare and busy most of day. Dog park was clear up in front, though there were several sites to deposit poo bags. Pool was very busy on daily basis. Backed onto a piece of land with chickens. Had early morning rooster call from break of dawn. We camped at Ft. Myers / Pine Island KOA in a Motorhome.

If you want to party, good location. Beaches are not accessible and mostly private with local police patrols. Was not impressed with island, just a party island.

Elkhart Campground, Elkhart, Indiana

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We attended a week long iRV2 rally, arrived 1 day early and had to stay 2 days longer. The owner only charged me rally rates for the extra 2 nights. That was a very nice surprise. We had a nice level spot, though the sewer hook up was at the very back of the spot. But we were able to park our tow in front. The rally had a very spacious hall that we used, it was kept clean by staff. An excellent dog park. In fact if the owners wanted to they could split it in two and have two large parks for the fur babies.

Only complaint was the voracious mosquitoes and that is not the park owners fault. We had no cable, but about 20 OTA stations at our site. Wifi was spotty at times, but usable most of the time. Would stay here again if traveling through. We camped at Elkhart Campground in a Motorhome.
