Lakeside Beach State Park, Waterport, New York

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We enjoyed our stay at Lakeside. It is a pretty large campground with both non-pet (A-C) and pet friendly (D-G) loops. Most loops have a mix of shaded and open sites, however loop G is in a field and probably the most big rig friendly. We stayed in F which is almost all wooded - definitely our favorite. Our site was great, however the fire ring looked to have not been used yet this year (filled with leaves) and the picnic table was broken. There are potable water fills spread throughout each loop, however their placement is a bit awkward - if you're not filling a portable tote or carrying 100'+ of hose, your camper will be blocking the loop road while you fill. 3 dump stations and there was a decent line at checkout on Sunday morning. Has lots of amenities for families (playgrounds, basketball, volleyball horseshoe pits, walking paths) but no lake access. Nice views of it though. We'd stay here again. We camped at Lakeside Beach State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Mathews Arm Campground (NPS Campground), Shenandoah National Park, Virginia

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

We decided to spend an extra night on our trip and moved here from Big Meadows which was already full - turned out to be well worth it. Not sure why but this campground was nearly empty and we ended up with a fantastic site. Bathrooms were barebones but clean - no showers available. Lots of hiking available both directly from the CG and a short drive away. Most sites are pretty unlevel so bring plenty of blocks. Great scenic spot, would definitely stay again. We camped at Mathews Arm Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Big Meadows Campground (NPS Campground), Shenandoah National Park, Virginia

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Arrived in the dark, site was easy enough to find though. Site was just barely long enough for our 22ft trailer and extended cab regular bed truck. This site offered a bit of buffer from neighboring sites which was great. Bathrooms were clean. Nice location for accessing different areas of the park. One dump station for the whole CG, could be a hassle on busy weekends. We camped at Big Meadows Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Ives Run COE, Tioga, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived late for a quick overnight stop. Really enjoyed the remoteness of the Pine loop, there are some beautiful sites there if you can go without hookups. After a night of heavy rain your rig will need a good wash upon exiting - road from Pine to the main campground is unpaved. Would definitely stay again! We camped at Ives Run COE in a Travel Trailer.

Timberland Campground, Shelburne, New Hampshire

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Owner was very nice and you can tell they take pride in their facility. We chose a back-in treed site with 30a & water and it was very nice. Great location, some road noise and one late evening train but we sleep with white noise so no bother for us. Bathrooms older but clean (it's a campground, not the Hilton). Not sure if it's related to the time of year but we were there after Labor Day and it seems some items (kayak rentals mentioned on their website) were not available, owner was helpful and happy to refer us to a nearby rental place however. Would definitely stay again. We camped at Timberland Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Lamoine State Park, Ellsworth, Maine

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Loved our stay here. Some sites for big rigs closer to the entrance which are not shaded - two rows closest to water are quieter and shaded but for mostly smaller trailers. No hookups however they have added a dump station and potable water fill since the older reviews. Easy location for visiting Acadia and the rest of Mt Desert without the hustle and bustle. Would definitely stay again. We camped at Lamoine State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Webster Park, Webster, New York

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Always enjoy our stays here. Most sites offer some shade and privacy, big rig sites on the entrance road not as much. Electric at all sites (30a or 30/50a depending on which one), water spigots also very convenient. Late checkout time compared to some parks which is a bonus! We camped at Webster Park in a Travel Trailer.

Stony Brook State Park, Dansville, New York

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

Nice place to stay in off season, peak season can be very busy. Lower loop has nice creek-front sites. Beautiful hiking trails in park. Not much privacy between most sites. No hookups, potable water and dump station available however. We camped at Stony Brook State Park in a Motorhome.
