Copake KOA, Copake, New York

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is a true family owned park. Grounds are immaculate, facilities are clean and well lit. All interior roadways are wide, easy to navigate and most are paved or gravel. Sites are huge, and very close to level. Store is well stocked and as stated staff could not be friendlier or more helpful. Pool was clean with plenty of poolside seating. We camped at Copake KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Don't be afraid to ask the staff for anything! A family member enroute to the campground became stuck in their motor home. I went to the office seeking information and they offered to go out with me to see if they could assist in getting them on their way. This is a place that truly believes in going above and beyond in the area of customer service and satisfaction.

Rondout Valley Resort Thousand Trails, Accord, New York

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $69.00
Overall Rating:

We reserved full hookup sites (there were 5 families camping together) Upon arrival we were escorted to our sites. Roads were dirt / muddy and filled with large potholes. Arrival at our sites showed they were actually tent sites with scattered water and electric no sewer and heavily treed. We asked why were not getting the full hookup sites we reserved and we were told they go to "Members" first then to non members. This is a "Thousand Trails" campground and they clearly cater to those members. Our sites were just grass and A LOT of mud. No gravel, not even close to level and as it rained they became just complete mud pits. The security / maintenance staff that routinely travel the grounds were very polite and helpful and were clearly put in a spot between a rock and a hard place when management decided to put 30+ foot campers on tent sites. Several campers got stuck backing into or pulling out of sites due to the mud and trees that made turning extremely difficult. My Electrical Management System showed large voltage swings and at one point the drop caused a shutdown of power to my camper. Maintenance staff said the infrastructure has not been updated in this part of the park in close to 40 years The other areas of the park were clean and sites looked to be fairly level and spacious. The pool although too cold to swim in was recently opened and water was very clean. Nice activities for kids and adults as well. My main reason for the poor rating was the bad decision to place large campers in an area designated for tents. We camped at Rondout Valley Resort Thousand Trails in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

DO NOT expect a full hookup site even if you reserve one. This campground caters to it's members and will NOT offer any refund for not getting what you paid for. Paid for full hookup including cable and got nothing but spotty electric and water.

Lake George Escape Camping Resort, Lake George, New York

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $58.00
Overall Rating:

Campground was very clean and well kept. It was early Fall which is very close to the end of the season so the camp store shelves were a bit bare. Our site was a little small but easily navigated and level. There was some debris left in the fire ring from previous campers. There was a "Town-wide" yard sale going on during this weekend so the campground was at capacity. Utilities worked as expected and there were quite a few cable TV channels provided.

Interior roads are a mix of gravel and dirt but were very easy to navigate. We camped at Lake George Escape Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

If you are into Yard Sales the Town of Warrensburg has the largest Town Wide sale I have ever seen. Stay here during this weekend and you won't be disappointed!

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Lazy River, Gardiner, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $98.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at a site on a newly created section they call "Up on the hill" and it definitely was. Weather was extremely hot and it was compounded by the fact that the "Hill" had absolutely zero shade. The campground itself was clean and well kept. The pool and children's water park were pretty crowded but given the nearly 100 degree temps that was to be expected. There were not enough chairs around the pool area. I learned later that the water park is open to the general public for a fee so not only were there campers and cabin people there but people that were just there to use the facilities as well. That caused more overcrowding than was necessary. We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Lazy River in a Travel Trailer.

Copake KOA, Copake, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $58.00
Overall Rating:

We were there during a special event weekend. It was packed with things to do including a band - Skeeter Creek. Park is very clean and well maintained. Staff is friendly, polite and very informative. A local bridge under construction made getting there a bit difficult but the staff made personal contact prior to my stay informing of detour and the proper route to take. Our site was HUGE and fairly level. It was on grass, not gravel. We were able to do a late checkout on Sunday. We camped at Copake KOA in a Travel Trailer.
